I recognized the title from a study I had done in school on Hugo Wolf, and decided to give it a watch. I only happened upon this anime not having any idea what it was.

From the first few minutes of watching, I was horrified, amazed, and completely hooked.

A beautiful ballet of extreme violence, nudity, and romance. Beyond the bloodshed and murder lies the heart of the story - a tale of love and human morality. Gorey. Energetic. Emotionally Charged.

These are the three ways I could describe this series. Right from the beginning you are treated to sword-swinging demon-slaying eye candy that hits it right on the spot for action, violence, and plenty of gratuitous blood spewing. The story follows a stereotypical plot line: Strong, beautiful, and skilled warrior finds clingy love-seeking companion, they travel together, and slay demons. What a refreshing series.

It's not your typical sword and sorcery series. This show is extremely story driven, and the plot is not your run of the mill spell slingers/melee masters versus dark lords/demons/evil beings. It's all about economy and the wandering merchants, and most of the story is derived from trading, travelling, and the subtle spurring romance of Lawrence and Holo.

It has a very intelligent storyline, with quirky humor and witty dialog, and you really have to pay attention. I would have liked to have seen the character interactions developed a little more, and possibly some of the christian/pegan themes explored further, but they did ...
