In short: It's like a bowl of chicken soup: nothing complicated, but it's enjoyable and warms the soul.

Is it complex, with exciting highs and depressing lows? No.
Did it feel like an arduous journey filled with blood, sweat, and tears? Nah not really.
Is it simple, comforting, and lovable? Absolutely.

The story isn't special but it makes you smile. Most "conflicts" are resolved quickly or without much build up. Admittedly this could be seen as a flaw, but I would argue that it works in this story. The manga doesn't try to be anything more than relaxing and wholesome, and it succeeds.

Characters aren't complex, but still lovable. What ... they lack in depth they make up for with fun interactions you'll enjoy seeing.

The art is simple, expressive, and adorable. It does a good job presenting what the characters feel, as well as the tone of the scenes. I also love when the characters become chibis, I can't help but smile when I see them.

In conclusion, the manga is simple, straightforward, and cozy. If you're looking for your next favorite manga with ground-breaking story telling, 200 IQ writing, and loads of twists and turns this won't be for you. But if you're looking for a heartwarming story that's a relaxing read, you'll enjoy this manga.

In short: A funny, adorable, and enjoyable slice of life romcom with a twist to make it more interesting

Story 9
Pretty much like any slice of life or romcom (in a good way) except for the student and teacher relationship. While this is seen as unethical as real life... This is a manga so chill. The MCs are already together to not much development happens, and this can be seen as a good or bad thing, depending on your taste. Personally I really enjoy it, their interactions are funny and cute, and the student and teacher relationship makes it different and more interesting. It makes up ... for the lack of development with its warm lovers' banter. So if you're looking for development this probably isn't for you, but trust me, just seeing the two characters and their interactions make it all worth a read.

Art 7
Honestly, not much to say here. The art's simple, it shows what it needs to (Characters' emotions and what not), and you know what's going on. That said, it isn't particularly outstanding, but hey its good enough to support the story.

Character 8
We get a clear picture of the MCs through their cute interactions and funny banter. While there isn't much development, we get to know them as the story progresses through their interactions. They're lovable which makes the manga a great read. While there are some side characters, they've got limited "screentime", and in my opinion, it would be great if the manga introduced them and gave them more screentime with the MCs.

Enjoyment 9
Personally, I really enjoy reading this manga. I read it just for seeing the MCs together with their cute and lovable interactions and funny banter, both of which make up for the lack of development. Again the lack of development doesn't really hinder the manga in anyway, as it's still very enjoyable to read purely because of the aforementioned MC interactions and banter.

I highly recommend giving this manga a read, as it's funny, cute, and lovable. It's simple story is nice break from stories with heavy plots, and very fun to read.

In short, it has a pretty normal start (as far as supernatural manga go), from around the middle onwards it gets crazy and ultra dark (minor spoilers(?) below). A story that's definitely worth a read, and superb art.

Story
It starts off fairly innocently, reminiscent of Tokyo Ghoul but slightly toned down. It's somewhat of a realistic story on what would happen to a newly turned vampire, with a very dark and twisted... Well twist from the middle of the story onwards. I expected a twisted romance between MC and the vampire girl but all I got was a twisted (not exactly bad) story. So if you're ... here for the romance drop it, now, because it gets very disturbing.
The story goes from "A Vampire Teen Just Getting By" to a bunch of secret scientists, and a cult worshipping vampire teens. It includes incredibly graphic and grotesque scenes, and some twisted censored nudity.
I can't say much without spoiling, but it in essence it goes from normal to extreme pretty damn fast, a story formula that isn't for everyone, but still enjoyable for others.

Art
At first glance the art seems rough and unpolished, but the artist uses it to their advantage, giving you a real sense of what's going down. Sharper, brighter, more defined drawings for happy scenes, and rough, seemingly messily shaded, and dark drawings for horrific or grotesque scenes. The way the artist uses the shading and artstyle to really amplify the experience and feel of the manga is truly laudable.

Character
Character development was pretty basic, like being acquainted with people: you get the basic idea of their personality and mindset, but the manga doesn't delve deeper into its characters which is a bummer, so there's not much to say. While character development was minimal, it WAS enjoyable to see them and their interactions. In the end they all played crucial roles in pushing the plot forward, or adding more "feeling" to the experience.

Enjoyment
In my opinion the manga was quite enjoyable even with its dark and bizarre turn. This might not be the case for everyone, however. So if you're a fan of the darker side of supernatural stories, with gore and seemingly sickening parts, then by all means pick it up. But if you don't do well with grotesque and dark stories please stay away from it.

In the end if you'll enjoy the manga depends on your tastes. I picked it up expecting a supernatural romance, but I still stayed after its dark turn because its story was too interesting to pull away from. So if you decide to pick up the manga, again, prepare for a light beginning, and a very dark story onwards.

Edit: This review is a couple years old and I haven’t read this manga in years. Dunno how badly the manga has degraded but eh.

In short: It's a romcom that feels realistic in a way. It can make you laugh and giggle at times, but what it truly excels at is drawing you in with its characters, and in the later chapters, pulling on your heartstrings. I highly recommend it.

Srory 9/10
The manga starts off okay, albeit quite frustrating due to the MC's shallow nature. Its only saving grace was the heroine, Chizuru, and her interesting personality. But then it took the boring "everything's built on ... a lie" turn and I really considered dropping it. But I kept reading, and I'm truly glad I did.
Every chapter is satisfying because it pushes the story forward, never taking a step backwards unlike some romcoms. The plot, while dramatical, feels somewhat realistic, it's something that could happen to someone in college, with minimal exaggerations(except the coincidences that's its own thing).
In the later chapters (vol7 onwards) things get more serious, and there are parts that really pull on your heartstrings and give you the feels.

I can't say too much without spoiling, but I find it similar to an "Omakase": it's a slow but very enjoyable experience, with every course satisfying you to the fullest, and getting better and better.

Art 7/10
Honestly the art is standard, but when the artist wants to make a scene that hits hard, oh boy it hits harder than truck-kun hits isekai protagonists. Those scenes are so detailed, every stroke placed strategically to paint a beautiful picture.

Characters 8/10
As mentioned before, the MC starts off as very unpleasant. As the story progresses however, he is shown to be a kind and genuine person, and an all-round likeable protagonist. The main heroine is by far the best part of the story, her personality opens up as the story progresses, and you'll find yourself wanting to know more about her as you read on. New characters always bring something new to the table, with strong, distinct personalities that make them standout in their own way. The manga does however, completely forgets about some characters for several volumes, which is quite a waste.

Enjoyment 10/10
Personally I REALLY enjoyed this manga, mainly because of its always-progressing story, and its characters and their banter. The story pulls you along and before you know it, you'll have reached the 10th volume.

Overall 9/10
Overall it's a great manga that, in my opinion, is very underrated. Admittedly it isn't for everyone, and it starts off pretty weak, but if you give it time and keep reading, I really do believe you'll like it as much as I do. Worst case scenario is that you'll have wasted some time on a manga that isn't for you, but the best case is that you'll keep reading and really enjoy it, so I'd say you should definitely give it a shot.

In short: it's WORTH A READ. Admittedly it has a simple, unoriginal plot, but the characters and their interactions make it enjoyable to read.

There isn't much to expect story wise:
Our MC is reincarnated and adopted by a renowned magician. Our MC grows to become insanely powerful, but he has no common sense.

The art can really make you feel what the characters are feeling, and it conveys the power of casted spells very well.

Most of the characters have distinct personalities that make the story that much more enjoyable to read. The banter between them is funny because it cuts tension and brightens the mood, which prevents ... the manga from getting too dull.

Again the story isn't original, but that doesn't mean the manga is rubbish. What makes this manga enjoyable is how the characters interact and how they develop over throughout the story.
What's important is that the manga is enjoyable to read, even with its flawed story and structure.
There's no harm in reading a few chapters because you might really enjoy it, if you don't then you can always drop it, so I say give it a shot.

In short: a MUST watch, I'm not recommending it, I'm saying you HAVE to give it a shot. Breathtaking art, a story packed full of feels, and main character development that really makes you tear up. One word to describe this anime is "beautiful"

The first thing that I noticed was the stunning art style. Highly detailed and beautifully colored, it definitely has one of the best art. Some scenes are so well made that it really makes you go, "woah"

The story is mostly one episode arcs with only Violet tying them all together. The anime is mainly about Violet's encounters and how they change her. ... She starts off as emotionless, but she starts to develop emotions as she experiences things that melt the ice around her heart.

Each episode is packed full of feels that build up to a heartwarming, tear-jerking finale.

Again this anime is a must watch. At worst if you don't like it, you can drop it, but if people miss out on this anime, they might miss out on something so beautiful and heartwarming that they might really enjoy.

in short: It's different from the anime, and as of right now, it's better

Art is detailed and beautiful, and it really makes you feel what the artist is trying to depict (e.g. Desperation, anger, fear, etc.)

For the most part it follows the anime, but it fixes aspects such as
-removing the "Boys VS Girls" arc which was a waste of time
-making Ichigo more likeable
-giving other characters development

In later chapters the manga seems to be turning away from the anime, but in a good way. It seems like the author is fixing many mistakes with the anime, which makes the manga very enjoyable, more so than the ... anime story wise.

While I miss hearing Zero Two saying "darling" and hearing "Kiss of Death" every episode, the manga's improved story definitely makes up for it.

This manga has lots of potential to fix the bad reputation the anime had in the end, and as of right now, it's very enjoyable to read whether or not you've seen the anime.

Darling in the Franxx had memorable moments that were very emotional, interesting characters that stood out, and the story build up was very enjoyable, up till the second half.
There was so much that could've been explored and explained about the world and the Franxx(es?).
Some characters didn't get enough development.
And the ending was so rushed and disappointing.

In a nutshell, DariFura's emotional moments were touching, the characters that got developed were interesting, and it was very enjoyable to watch in the first half.
However, its ending was so rushed and just painful to watch, which might ruin the whole experience for some people, and there was so ... much wasted content.

I would still recommend it because for me personally, it's worth watching DariFura for its good moments, even if the ending was terribly rushed.
