anime as a medium should probably include more queer characters. representation matters (I feel like I've seen maybe 2 trans characters total and even fewer asexuals for instance), but even beyond that there are so many interesting stories to be told through a queer lens, as is evidenced by the handful of anime that do actually explore queer experiences. anime characters often just feel so homogenous in their allo cis het perspectives and I feel like we can start to move past that by now.
I'm just wishing here. I know this isn't happening anytime soon out of a country like japan.
