After watching the film after it had surfaced online (the poor quality watermarked stream) I became aware that it was to be shown in select Melbourne cinemas. So I rounded up my friends (only one of them had previously seen the movie) & hoped that a cinema viewing would dramatically increase my enjoyment of this film, in which it did.

Monster (Anime) add
Upon concluding Monster I immediately considered it a masterpiece. The show explores the effects of making a decision based on morals regardless of whether the decision will ruin the life of the person that makes it. Other themes within Monster include the value of life and what separates good and evil.

The story structure of protagonist versus antagonist was perfectly constructed in Tenma and Johan, both characters have opposing ideologies but don't carry any hatred towards eachother which makes the question of if Tenma will eventually kill Johan that much more intriguing considering Tenma's view that all life is equal.

Clannad is my favourite anime of all time although I admit part of the reason why is because it was one of the first anime I watched.

Clannad offers a romance and coming of age story mixed in with a few supernatural subplots (although these subplots only serve to explain the backstory of a character rather than to challenge Tomoya)
What is enjoyable about Clannad's romance is that the show doesn't include cliches that other high school romance anime would - the "confession but he somehow misheard" is not present in Clannad.
