Knight's & Magic has shaped up to be one of the most fun and entertaining anime I've ever seen in my life, (and I've seen over 100).
Knight's & Magic is very different than your typical mecha anime which focuses on convoluted stories, wars in space, politics and all that jazz. Instead, more like the Gundam Build Fighters' series, Knight's & Magic focuses on the mecha themselves. Designing and improving them, building them, upgrading them, and then of course, battling them.
The show has a very simple standard anime plot, about an Otaku who is hit by a car, likely thrown into a coma and
...
forced to live within his mind - or was actually somehow reborn in another world while retaining his memories. Regardless, in this world, giant robots, much like the gunpla he loved to build in his world exist, and using his knowledge of robots and models, he becomes the first person in over a century to design a new mecha for the military, and soon becomes the lead mecha designer in the kingdom.
What makes this series so insanely fun and addicting, is how much it focuses on exactly what we want to see, while cutting out all the other BS. In typical Shounen fashion, Knight's & Magic feels very much like Boku No Hero Academia in the sense that all you really want is to see the characters get stronger and improve and for everyone to recognize them - and ultimately, to watch them to badass things -- and that's what you get in Knight's & Magic. Ernesti, our protaganist is a genius mech designer, he makes the coolest mechs, surprises everyone, every time, and you get a 24 minute episode watching awesome mechs be created, in detail, and then seeing them battle with fantastic choreography.
I highly recommend this series to any fans of the battle and creation aspects of mecha anime. Fans of mecha anime like Gundam Unicorn or Iron Blooded Orphans may not like this anime, as it focuses on the mecha, not the characters or the world.
