I would suggest to not really focus on romance in this movie, most people hate the ending, but I didn't think much of it mainly because I thought more of what the MC was going through, and her journey to express her feelings. I still did disliked the romantic part of the ending, but I didn't really care. Naruse hardly ever talked, but still the animation expressed her emotions really well, and I understood how she felt. The other characters were fine though, It showed how they trusted each other and worked things out.
