"Rating the anime you watch is overrated."
"If you can't handle the tsun, you don't deserve the dere."
G'day all, I just watch the seasonal anime and lurk on the Mal forums.
"Gotta get in tune with Sailor Moon, cause that cartoon has got the boom anime babes that make me think the wrong thing."
I'm just a guy who likes his anime and manga. I don't want to switch off my brain while watching balls-to-the-walls fight scenes and shows that drag on forever bore me to death. I'm fine with harems that are executed well, I usually come to terms with their stupid magically-bound laws to the non-progressive plot of them, to which I simply watch for my own personal enjoyment.
'Attack on Titan' was obviously the 'anime of the year' for 2013 and was seriously over-hyped for its stature, but still received an overall liking from most of us here, only to be followed closely by the likes of Sword Art Online. As there is only a certain amount of hype that can be generated for mediocre anime such as these, only the most acclaimed titles will survive and prosper in the anime industry, to which the growing community will want to receive with open arms.
Ecchi and fanservice are only a problem to me if they outbalance the good stories that are to taken from such shows; they can be distractions at times, a lot of times, and often make me drop a show. However there is a lot of good to be taken from anime and manga. From simply awe-inspiring, action-packed adventures such as in Gurren Lagann or a tale of the strength of childhood friends in AnoHana, the emotions taken in from these 'cartoons' can touch one's heart as strongly as any other form of media.
To our lonely lives as overeager otakus or wayward weaboos, the media of the Japanese community provides us with the personal nourishment of imagination, whimsical fantasies and dysfunctional obsessions over the smallest products of merchandise. My curiosity for anime continues to be sated with the newest releases, as time will continue to improve in terms of animation and sound quality, perhaps as to emulate the authenticity of the classics.
The world of anime and manga will only continue to be growing and adapting to a broader audience, hopefully introducing themes that will completely blow away its already outstanding community, while alluring the attention of the world of Western television. Animations and cartoons have proven to be lacking in the way of a meaningful, yet enjoyable story when it comes to just outright honest performance. Shows like 'Spongebob' and 'Adventure Time' just don't seem to cut it as much as stuff like 'Cowboy Bebop' or 'Fullmetal Alchemist' when it boils down to the personal entertainment and captivating feeling when watching and it really tests my loyalty towards a stream of two potentially great forms of television, to which I and hopefully everyone else can enjoy at the same time.
In the end, Toy Story, Corey in the House and Forrest Gump will ultimately remain as my favourite animes of all time. :)))))))
I lie...
Seinfeld is actually the best anime of all time.
