Now this must be my favourite currently-publishing manga, I confess it. Though to say so may be considered less than seemly, because this is not a "good" manga. In truth, it's very much part of the mosquito-like swarm of harem series, which are somehow or other so popular, that they easily survive by feeding on the readership no matter how good they be in reality. Upon reading this manga attentively, you should notice that it's brilliant in a technical sense. In all its simplicity, the art is divine. A thing strangely oft' forgotten is that when readers are expected to ... follow along with a story told in short chapters which consist mostly of art rather than text, that art must be something at which readers enjoy looking. Aside from the art, and all of the characters are endearing—or at least, not actively frustrating when they appear—and the story has no obvious, large flaws.

Why, then, is it fun to read? There are those, assumedly, who'd say that it's cliché; this is true, of course, but is that such a bad thing? In fact, it's probably the same exactly that makes it so. Whatever it be that's said, I want to read cliché rom-coms about childhood friends, because it's fun. If a manga is fun to read, I'll read it, be it however good from an objective standpoint. If you like this genre, you may have heard of the anime "My Sister, My Writer"; this anime is a disaster, a totally hideous mess, a wonky mixture of dog and she-goat, but Mary, mother of God, it is a lot of fun to watch. A work can be enjoyable because it's objectively good, or for some other unrelated reason, and I don't really care which one it is, because this one is damn fun to read.

By the way, the thing about arcs being one-chapter is only at the very beginning of this manga; there is mostly standard-fare thereafter. Reviews aren't supposed to comment on other reviews, though, so for accordance's sake, let it be said that I say this in a predictive sense... sure.

Now here is a manga that starts at the peak of a mountain and rolls downhill into the ocean depths. In spite of the admittedly somewhat interesting basic idea, in which you draw lots for one in three chances of yandere and land each one, upon picking it up, you'll quickly note how the story seems to meander around and how most of the plot events are totally meaningless and unrelated, making the whole hard to follow. After all pains have been employed, you'll understand the story about as well as your legs under-stand you after tasting the very good, heavy, and fattening ... beer served in the Breslau Rathskeller. The ending is a total disaster, as is befitting, but this is mostly the executioner's fault. I'm sure it could have been something more, but as it is, it's not very interesting or fun to read.

Discernibly destitute of direction, development, and dispute, "disappointing" is the description most befitting this manga. Not only why any thing is done, but even by whom or what kind of person is not at all evident; in fact, the characters' motivations and natures are nonexistent or so hard to follow or understand that it is best to give up on the task entirely. Hence it comes that the events and characters of this manga are meaningless and even forgettable; it is difficult to name or recall even one discriminate event. As such, story-wise, it is deathly dull and stands out from the ... competition not at all. The praise-worthy aspect—and quite well so—is art, which looks sharply clear, almost light, like flame-polished glass; at no point will the reader not understand what it is the present scene is trying to show. This fact would work quite to the story's advantage if the latter were not so devoid of clarity. Overall, although not exactly a waste-of-time, it is not very fun to read, either.

Would you like to read about a childhood friendship, or, more befittingly, a childhood relationship, in the most reproachable sense of this word? Clearly, all good-will is absent from it, thus rendering void the very name of friendship. Not only is it destitute of that zeal, but even of any constancy or blamelessness. If it were a ridiculous gag comedy, I'd like. But in spite of this, the story reads more like a shoujo manga in which our heroine quite likes not only to abuse the patience of, but even to threaten with her words the one who should be worth ... many bushels of salt. What truly love-struck person would make the most terrible threats against their own lover to make them act how they'd like? Moreover, what lover in the world would sustain such abuses? These characters act not as childhood friends would, but as a mistress and a possessed puppet would. Even after she has suffered in pity and regret and claimed to cherish her relationship, she continues to abuse it. What moral goodness there is supposed to be has mixed with vinegar and soured. This is so self-evident that it requires no further discussion.

I will say this: that I am not only disappointed by this manga, but even ashamed of it. If you should begin to read it, you would, in all truth, be warmed by the honied romance story it appears to be; but this is all a deception. Only after some chapters, I recall not how many exactly, but in the range of six to ten, would you notice that the author had lost all interest in the romance genre that he earlier wrote so decidedly and that he has now replaced with out-and-out action scenes, unbefitting at best in the midst of the ... multitude of sweet scenes therebefore. I tell you, do you not read it, and save the trouble of one person, at least.

Shame on this manga and its principles! Do you want to watch a girl be sexually assaulted countless times without any real romantic development? Well, I do, actually, but only in hentai. What I do not want to watch is this distastefully bitter manga, which still lies in my mind as an embarrassing memory upon arising in the mornings.

Sure, prudence may demand us to accept sexual violence in fiction as a consequence of storytelling, but there is practically no content here to be revered, not even for those who know no better, and I do not mean that in the same way ... as one could say of a slice-of-life type story. This is a polarising manga, but heed my words, show devotion, and leave this one amongst the disgusting muck where you found it.

This manga is much better at the U-turn than professional drivers. How very promising it was before running out of steam and becoming every other love comedy's likeness. Apart from the main quartet, the characters range from meaningless to actually hideous. I have a particular problem with one of the characters that shows up and disappears later on; I would believe you on the spot if you told me the editor was blackmailed to allow him in.


Throughout the entire thing, there was exactly one (1) side character that I enjoyed—that sister of Yaginuma's; but the rest have no reason for existing. ... Not only do they not improve the story in any way, but they accomplish nothing, they try nothing, they *think* nothing. Sure, they may not directly make the manga worse, but they leech panels and dialogue from the main characters, whom not only did I enjoy much more but was also legitimately interested in.

Overall, I would never call it bad, but it really is not very enjoyable to finish, either.

Do you want to read a love comedy where you will not laugh a single time whilst you watch the main character not only say nothing, but also do nothing, try nothing, *think* nothing that could help him in his trials of romance? Well, in that case, it must be your lucky day. If only you could afford to stop working the tanning rack for a moment, master furrier, you could then perhaps read a chapter of this; the two tasks are so very comparable in their enjoyability that it would surely be easy for you.

I understand how unfair it is to say ... these things about a cancelled manga, but it really is hard to find very much good to say about this. The art is adequate, and, as generic as it is, the concept is not the least interesting thing ever. That said, even 'true' slice-of-life manga have more fancifully conjured and entertaining-to-watch... designs? The parts where this manga is almost good are the ones where it strays off course a bit, but even those are oft forced and not necessarily good. The ending is a disaster, as you all already know. Overall, I enjoyed it very little and could have spent the time doing something much more fun, like grinding flour at the millstone.

The first thing you ought to know about this one is that it is a dating game adaptation NOT in omnibus format; instead, the main character coldly picks a girl at end out of the four with whom he is involved throughout. This is not for you if you would rather see all the characters' routes or a generic harem.

The second thing you ought to know is that it is not... very good. Nonsensical, convenient events occur to each needing them. The nearer to the end you draw,
the more frequent and significant these become. Without spoiling much, one of the ... more tragic ones made me laugh rather than sob, because I was convinced that the girl made it happen herself; indeed, often they are so very inexplicable that you would suspect the characters to have brought them on themselves intentionally.

On those grounds, I cannot rate it higher than a 6. And, though I find many faults and much to complain about, it really depends on whom you are looking for. I did not think it was blatantly bad at any point. The story is competent and the art is on the better side. Overall, it is not necessarily bad, but not very good either.

It shouldn't be hard to figure out that this is a fetish manga for tights, but it's infinitely more enjoyable than you'd expect. Every chapter is about tights—no big surprise there—but there's also a more traditional romcom hidden behind all that. In short, both a sadistic classmate who's aware of his fetish and a cute oblivious childhood friend have a crush on the main character, and they both love to wear tights: something that puts the fetishist main character in quite a few comedic situations. Then there are some more classic side character types like the teasing senpai, the childhood friend's mother, ... and an amateur video creator. It's cliché but works well enough and makes for light, easy reading. Overall, despite being about a fetish, it's just fun, wildly cute, and a li'l warming.
