Both main character are very similar. One who like one of these two manga should like the other one as I feel they are very similar in term of sports development : Both main character are wild and are learning the game. One difference to note is the different sport the manga focus on. Still worth a try.

They both feature very similar drawing. When I read Fullmetal Alchemist first, I immediately thought of Kenshin because they are so similar.Even more, the plot shares a similar core. If you liked one of them, reading the other is definitively something to consider.

I feel they both manga have a certain focus about the sport: Slam Dunk focus on showing how intense a basketball game can be... While Fight no Akatsuki focus more on how Basketball is enjoyable. Both are similar enough that if you liked one of them, the other is a manga to consider.

They both share the same core: school basketball. One of them relies more on wild stuffs and have some interesting characters. The other one, though, focus more on some guys fighting against some wild stuffs and encourage reader to love basketball. If you have read one of them, you should read the other since they are somewhat similar.

One of them relies more on the intensity that Baseketball games can give. If you liked Slam Dunk, Kuroko is an interesting read as it is on school basketball too. If you liked Kuroko, Slam Dunk is a must read.

Since it's written and drew by the same author, it is obvious that both has the same art style, similar plot, and the same characters style, which is a big reason this recommendation is made. The arts are amazing and highly detailed in both. If you like the drawing of one, you will like the arts of the other easily. They both feature an high organization that the main character desires to dismantle because of some disagreement in the vision of life or something. It features a similar plot then. Similar characters, different lifestyle. Nothing more to add. In summary, if you liked one, you might like the others, althought the different lifestyle(one is more urban while the other feature samurais...) might bothers you. Still worth a try.

They both feature a main character who is the guy everybody want to take down. Some intense fight there and there and some drama (because of the past) there and there. They are really similar. However, the drawings of Samrai Deeper Kyo is superior to Kenshin in my opinion. But Kenshin still has that simple drawings that does wonders. You just can't read one without at least trying the other one.

They are both similar in term of progression of the main character's (and the others) improvement over the course of the manga. And they sometimes use wild techniques during their games. Although Tennis no Ouji-sama has better drawing in my opinion, Tsubasa is still respectable.

They are mainly both similar plot wise : in the start, is the "normal " life. But as the story goes, the past of the main character gets everybody involved, forcing some change in the main character's surrounding and the main character itself. Small note to make: Yugioh GX focus on the card game. And is rather long compared to Trigun.
