Ok, so now it's my turn to talk about the anime adaptation of the greatest horror manga of all time, be ready, I have something for everyone.
I'll start by saying the criticism towards this anime is freaking absurd, y'all enjoy watching god awful series every new season and now decided to group together to fight the adaptation of such an amazing manga (which is defo miles better than your favorite stupid anime). I really hope this review won't be taken down by the mods, cause this is the real embodiment of a review, not the usual copied stupid reviews that people like to post here,
...
this is a whole critique of the anime industry and anime community, through the analysis of the peculiar phenomen that this anime highlights.
I have to point out that I'm very passionate about Uzumaki, it's one my favorite manga series and objectively one of the best manga of all time.
First of all, let's see why this adaptation turned out this way. As producer Jason DeMarco said, someone screwed them over in the process of making this series, which basically means that some higher up saw how much it would cost to make the whole thing as good as episode one and said "fuck it, we either cancel it for good, or you cut the quality to make it fit the tight budget we gave you". As stands, hating on this anime just makes you a scumbag of a human being, since the higher ups won't even care about its failure and the people that worked on it, which is now certain that they are fans of the source materials that done everything they could with the poor schedule and budget given, are not to blame, and yet hating on this anime only results in insulting their efforts. We are on MyAnimeList, I don't think the big companies cares about the criticism espressed on this platform, get a life and touch some grass please. This having a 6.46 rating here is a crime against humanity, in the context of such not important things like and anime, when the shit y'all enjoy is rated much higher while being utter trash. I'm calling everyone out, I don't care anymore, you are at fault for this mess.
So now it's time to talk about the anime itself, finally.
Episode 1 is perfect. Visuals are amazing, extremely detailed and conveys the beautiful drawings of the source material, while the fast pacing helps making it much more impactful for new viewers, it really does a good job in not giving you time to breathe before a new impactful moment arrives. The music score is also incredible, Colin Stetson is a god in his craft and this will go down as one of the most memorable soundtracks of the entire history of Japanese animation. The Japanese voice acting is also top notch, as usual in this industry. 10/10
And then everything crumbles, episode 2 is really bad, visuals are ridicolous and the pacing becomes so fast we lose every type of impact the series could give the audience, the impactful scenes of the episode 2 all happen to fast and leave no impressione whatsoever. I can understand why it's so hated, but it's the only episode that it's this bad. 5/10
Episode 3 is actually pretty decent, the animations are nowhere near as bad as episode 2, while still lacking the incredible dinamysm of the first one, and the pacing is a bit more sufferable. The Hospital Arc is still my favorite part of Junji Ito's masterpiece and even here it's enjoyable, not as impactful as the manga versione, but still good. The other parts of the episode were still rushed, but all around it was nowhere near as bad as y'all were talking in the forums. I repeat, touching some grass is not a bad choice in life. 7/10
Episode 4 is really good up until the series finale. I think the transition from the ruins of the city to the final stage of the curse was done really good even with the fast as hell pace. The animations were surprisingly good, apart from a couple really bad scenes. The finale was handled badly, it was so fast and, again, lacked impact. It wasn't an amazing finale to begin with, even in the manga, but the ending of the stories is not what Junji Ito stuff is about, so there is no reason to freak out, just learn how to read a god damn manga and you'll finally stop looking for stupid isekai and copied and pasted battle shonen anime. 7.5/10
So at the end of the day it's a 7ish out of 10 adaptation (the score only takes in consideration the work of adaptation, when I have already read the manga) of a 9 out 10 manga, so this a 8 out 10 anime. The cummunity giving this work a score lower than a 7.50 is absurd, this new era of the community is frightening, now we give 10s and 9s to any new hit that comes out and we are relentless when something doesn't go as we wish, this is utter anarchy. This episode will soon be forgotten as another failed Junji Ito adaptation and soon enough you will go back to give absurdly high votes to utter bullshit like the new Re:Zero season, Mushoku Tensei Season 3, the god awful Culling Game arc of Jujutsu Kaisen and so on.
This cycle won't end, we are following the spiral that will bring the anime community down again, we'll soon be at the bottom of the Uzumaki...

This manga started in the first few chapters as a promising psychological gore horror series, but things soon went south leaving us readers with a mess of unjustified violence with no writing and zero horror factor, simply awfully gore violence for the sake of it.
I got to know this series from a YouTube video, now I deeply regret opening YouTube that day, I decided to give it a shot cause we don't have many horror series nowaday but it was a mistake, beware of this manga. Basically the story is about this condo in which the landlord looks like a teenager and keeps the tenants basically ... Jul 25, 2024

After four episodes I feel like it's the time to share my impressions on this series, I think we saw it's going to go on in the next episodes and, possibly, future seasons.
So, this is a simple cute slice of life series about this Ramen restaurant owned by cats and this girl who starts working part-time at the restaurant, the interactions between her and the various cats are always entertaining and wholesome, and we are starting to see more human characters that are friends with the owner, voiced by the amazing Kenjiro Tsuda (also props to the lawyer guy, voiced by Takaya Kuroda, the va ... 137 chapters in, almost caught up, felt it was the right time to think a cool review for this manga.
I'll start by saying that I'm a huge fan on The Seven Deadly Sins, it's one of the first anime I've watched when I started watching anime "seriously", and it still holds a special place in my heart, even with the awful last season and, especially, the last arc about Chaos. With this premise I shouldn't like this new manga either, since the central point of Four Knights of the Apocalypse is literally the continuation of the Chaos arc, showing how Arthur and New Camelot evolve in ... So, here we go again with the almost yearly dose of Nanatsu no Taizai, this time with the anime adaptation of the sequel of the og series.
We all remember how badly the og series ended, with the last season, with a stupid plot point after the end of the Great Holy War that led to an awful last arc, centered on the figure of Arthur. And the last arc of the og Nanatsu no Taizai is basically the "spawn point" of this new series, with the main theme being the fight between the "evil" forces of New Camelot led by Arthur and the Four Knights ... Of course, as it happens every year, we are presented with the new generic battle shonen from the pages of Shonen Jump, with the only content being good animations, which of course gets the people crazy, cause why writing a new and interesting story when you can just recycle already seen stuff creating your "own" version of the Frankenstein monster that the current battle shonen genre has become.
This time the bad guys are the kaiju, goofy ahh creatures with their sole intention being harming humans, and of course, in Attack on Titan fashion, alongside the dumb beast like majority there's some that are intelligent ... Jun 6, 2024
AWFUL, JUST AWFUL!!
That's the most I can say about this DISGUSTING season. Demon Slayer was already a decent at best series, shining only cause of the beautifully animated fight scenes, with bad writing, a stupid cast of characters and repeated typical battle shonen tropes, but this is season is even worse, cause we don't even get the action. And what's left, if not the action?! Absolutely nothing, that's the answer. To make matters worse, Ufotable decided to make this 8 chapters long arc longer in the anime version by making it 8 freaking episodes, adding boring unnecessary stuff.... 4th episode is the reason I decided to review ... If you are fan of Naruto you should definetely read this one-shot, cause it's really good. It basically tells the story of how the "rasengan" was invented and it shows more in dept the bond between Kushina and Minato, and partially also the one between Minato and Jiraya. It's definitely nothing incredible and it won't spark a new series, unlike Bleach's Hell Arc one shot, but it's a nice read and something that could come straight from the original manga (would be nice to see it in a special episode airing on tv, but with the new anime coming in September I don't see it

First thing and the most important: this movie is insane, I was in awe throught the entire 90 ish minutes it lasted.
I'm gonna start my review by saying I'm not particularly a fan of Masaaki Yuasa, apart from Tatami Galaxy, Ping Pong and Kaiba I didn't really like his other works that much (especially that awful Japan Sinks 2020, that was just pure garbage), but this movie is really a damn masterpiece. For context, to enjoy it the most you should be kinda familiar with some aspects of Japanese history, namely the Genpei war (for that I can recommend the brilliant Heike monogatari anime series, made ... Saw the movie yesterday at my city's theaters, and it was an all around enjoyable experience. Prior to this movie I had already watched all Shinkai's movies and animation shorts, and after watching Suzume no Tojimari I can safely say 5 Centimeters per Second it's still his best movie.
For like the 6th time Shinkai presents the same type of story we got to see in all his other movies, every time with some different elements, but of course the main themes of disaster and impossible love are still present. This time the movie uses the earthquake, a theme that's really important to Japanese people, ... |
