hi :)
top 3 below
3. Ao Ashi/Tokyo Ghoul
(Aoashi)
'What a nice pair of boots.'
This animanga is easily (in my opinion, of course) one of the greatest to be ever made, due to it showcasing the genuine hardships a footballer goes through, as well as additionally teaching genuine tactics people use in real life, maintaining a sense of realism throughout the story. Moreover, the characters are extremely likeable, and the art is highly different compared to other mangas', having the main character don curly hair rather than spiky hair, something you don't see in a lot of series.
(Tokyo Ghoul)
'I'm done. No more dreaming.'
Watched the anime first, thought it was average. Read the manga, and it genuinely blew my mind as to how much better it is compared to the adapted version. Genuinely one of the best pieces of fiction to come out. Due to this, I've learned to never judge a book by its cover, and to always give something a read in case I miss the definition of peak as I have with Tokyo Ghoul.
2. The Climber/Texhnolyze
(The Climber)
'I love mountains. I no longer care if I die here.'
i fw this one heavy cuz i do climbing irl
Has stunning visuals and also talks about the nature of climbing, such as the preparation, the difficulties and even the dangers one may face whilst taking part in alpinism.
(Texhnolyze)
Based in an underground city, where 3 factions fight to take control of it. We also follow a man named Ichise, who refuses to be 'Texhnolyzed' yet is forced into doing it after losing both his arm and leg due to the authority of an unnamed figure, as well as a girl named Ran, a florist, able to look into the future. This is a very nihilistic, dark and cyber-punk show about the overreliance on technology, in which you yourself have to analyze and somewhat make the plot up yourself due to the lack of dialogue in the first few episodes. Additionally, it is a very slow-paced show, therefore meaning it is definitely not for those who prefer action, but for those who watch it for the experience.
1. Re:Zero
'I return by death...'
my favourite series of all time, and for a good reason
Follows an isolated boy named Subaru Natsuki, who's granted the power to return by death once transported into a different world. Easily one of the most relatable characters, and personally: he's a huge inspiration for me. Although he's been 'blessed' with the ability to 'fix' his mistakes, he undergoes countless of horrifying experiences whilst doing so. Despite this, he's unable to tell anybody of his troubles and has to put up a façade that of a happy and joyful attitude in order to pretend everything's okay, as well as to not make anybody else close to him worry, fearing he might lose what little worth he has left to others. He's always willing to help the ones he holds dear, even if it means going down the thorny path and sacrificing himself, showcasing the resolve he holds: capable of throwing himself first rather than others.
