I intend on this being a completely spoiler free review. Girly Air Force is about the definition of mediocre. If it was to be personified, it would be the guy in the room no one remembers because he is so incredibly average.
The art is nicely done, and CG isn't obtrusively done like so many other action anime. That alone gains it points in my book.
The audio was nicely done, but not so much the music. The music only seemed to really hit a high note (forgive the pun) one time for me... and it was in episode 12.

This anime will not leave you humming any music from its intro, closing, battles, etc... it's just musically underwhelming.
The characters were pretty flimsy here as well, though I admit they were stronger than I'd have expected from something named "Girly Air Force"... so I guess that's a win?
Now the story was SUPER slow. And feels like it should have been a 24 episode season, that they cut in half. And all we got was the slow mood setting half of a season. The final episode is OBVIOUS it is now supposed to finally be entering the interesting story arc. Then... it ends. You get one episode of actually fairly fun enjoyable story, then you have to wait for what MIGHT be season 2 (or might never occur).
Anyway, TL:DR... mediocre, even by young girls personifying war machines standards. And it ends the moment it finally gets interesting.

To start off, I didn't expect much from this anime. A show about a college scuba club, doesn't sound terribly appealing. I decided to give it a shot. And this was a great move, because it led to an anime that was simply hilarious in its execution.
I will say, there wasn't much worthwhile out of the story, but that isn't always a bad thing. With no need to remember every character (I still can't distinguish between the regularly shown male club members) means you can really jump into the series at just about any point and still enjoy it.

you're looking for a complex, deep, meaningful story... go to a different show. If you find the actions of blackout drunk people to be hilarious... come on in and give this show a watch.

It pains me to rate this show so poorly. I loved the first two seasons and fumoffu was hilarious. Maybe this is why I can't help but grade this production poorly? All I know is I may not ever finish watching this because of the glaring issues.
From what I have seen the character development... is non-existent. It relies entirely on previously created character stories to fill out the characters (and it changes key characteristics of existing individuals from the previous seasons without notice). Kaname has magically changed from the confident and kinda kick ass character, to the crying screaming damsel

in distress, with no explanation. This would have been a GREAT time for some character exposition to explain, maybe she got PTSD (or whatever can possibly explain this) from the events at the end of TSR to explain this change. And this would be fine if there was something of value to be gained from them using that time elsewhere. It does not. It is OBVIOUS the creators are trying to tell a darker, grittier aspect of the story. But in doing so they have ignored MANY of the aspects of the originals that made them enjoyable. The writers (if they actually have writers and didn't just plug previous seasons into Watson to fabricate a new story for them) have taken the cheesy, easy way out by making every aspect of the story cliched action tropes (many of which were taken almost verbatim from one of the previous seasons). The art is obnoxious with the excessive use of CGI for fight sequences (and fights tend to last a few episodes each. but hey... it's easier than drawing and animating the old fashioned way even if the art now sticks out like a sore thumb).
Also, this is probably just a personal pet peeve, but after the 13 or so year gap since the previous shows, the voice actors' voices have changed (Japanese audio version). They SOUND a decade older, even though the characters are supposed to be the same age they were when TSR ended. Kaname must smoke 2-3 packs of cigarettes a day, because this 16-18? year old girl now sounds like she's 40-50.
In closing, this was not the enjoyable ride I expected to get when I saw the title "full metal panic!" again.

I will attempt to keep this review as short and to the point as MyAnimeList allows.
Season 2 (especially the first half of the season) was considerably less enjoyable than the original season of Overlord. One of the major issues with this season was terrible sense of pacing. Each half of the season feels like it should have been expanded into their own seasons (though, given how unenjoyable the first half was... maybe it could have just been excluded). The creators crammed too much into this season and did not properly develop ANY of it. This left all the characters

that didn't exist in the first season to be very forgettable (which is bad since there is VERY little focus on the previously established characters... which are the protagonists of the story... or are they antagonists? I dunno).
In summary, if you haven't watched this anime yet, you can easily skip the first 5 episodes of the season (and may be happier if you do) and not miss out on any important information. And be prepared for they creators putting the pacing at ludicrous speed and leaving it there the full season. This is still an enjoyable anime (or half of it is), just don't expect anything ground-breaking.

I'll attempt to make this spoiler-free.
This is not a ground-breaking anime. Despite some of the other reviews I've seen here. It actually IS kind of a generic harem anime. This isn't saying that's a bad thing (a few of my favorite anime can fall into the "generic harem" trope).
For me the truly important part is the enjoyment factor. Which there was plenty of... but then there was also the head scratching "WTF is happening here" factor that damaged my enjoyment of the show. This is exemplified by the apparent confusion over what time period this show took place
...
in. There's Jet airliners and satellite surveillance (1980s or later). But nations' militaries still use horse cavalry (1930s or earlier) and horse-drawn artillery. I don't know if I should chalk this up to the writing team's assumption that Russia must be half a century inferior or what. But such unrealistic mixing of era's kind of removed a lot of the enjoyment from the later half of the show.
Oh yeah, and whether it is the art team or the story team I don't know. But there are some serious continuity issues.

Simply put, this anime doesn't deserve the condemnation that the vocal minority are currently giving it. Just look at the MAL rating compared to the top like 6 most "helpful" reviews. For this rating with so many 1s... means there are FAR more (on a scale of far more than 2:1... since most people don't give only 1s and 10s) people who found it to be enjoyable in some way.
There is nothing spectacular or innovative about the story/art/etc... However, in order to be enjoyable doesn't require any of that. This is an ecchi harem(ish) anime, you should never expect it to

be ground-breaking just based on the genre. It has a solid story, standard art, decent voice acting, at least ATTEMPTS to form some character backstory (which alone makes it impossible to be called the WORST anime in existence), and is oddly relaxing and enjoyable to watch.
This is a simple anime. Nothing complex. It's short (only 10 REAL episodes... plus an obligatory ecchi trope of girls on the beach OVAs). And it is simply enjoyable.

This anime (manga and 90's version are NOT included in this review... because this ISN'T the page for either of them) does one thing and one thing only. Hack and slash gore-fest. That's not saying it's a bad show, per se. It is, however, repetitive and struggles to hold your attention (unless you're one of those who are just out for a gore-fest). Perhaps the second half of the season got deeper and more complex (I doubt it, but wouldn't know since it lost my interest before I made it past 6), but repetitive endless waves of monsters attacking and killing
...
everyone except Guts (which the MC's name is guts... WTF kind of writer comes up with that?) as the entire premise of each episode. There is only so many times you can watch the same thing before you know exactly how each episode will work out before you've seen it.
The use of CG ontop of regular art was clunky and at times almost nauseating. Definitely not a seemless implementation.
Anyone who gives this ANIME (this being an important term) a high score because of the MANGA (they are two different things, one can be mediocre even if the other is the single best thing on the planet... which this is not) is a waste of a review.
In the end if you want to watch each of the 12 billion SAW movies. This will definitely be an anime you can get behind. If you find the exploits of Jigsaw to be redundant and tedious. You will probably make it through 2-3 episodes before you start getting tired of the monotony.

This review will not be terribly long or complex (just long enough that MAL allows it to be posted). And will be almost totally SPOILER-FREE.
I can't in good conscience give this a 1, as that implies there was nothing of value gained from it at all. There's also no way to justify a 10.
This is very much akin to delivery boy-man from Futurama. They gave the protagonist too many powers. There was never even a remote chance he could lose/not do something.
The whole point of this anime was supposed to be that he had his smartphone (that still somehow

worked the same) in another world. Well, the writers seem to have forgotten that after about episode one. It instead becomes a story focused on the most over-powered protagonist known to man. Lost your keys? He has a spell for that. Need Sherlock Holmes? He has a spell for that. Need to destroy a planet? I can easily surmise he has a spell for that as well. Want to get the girl? He doesn't have a spell for that... but apparently he doesn't need it, since every girl in existence is drawn to him anyway. Honestly... I'd feel a bit better about it if he WAS a pervert who used a spell to get the girl. Would at least add a potentially funny bit of personality to his character.
Despite the show's title there is one thing you won't see in this anime... and that is using a smartphone (ok technically you do see it for like 10 seconds each episode, and episode 1 they actually had made an effort to fit it in... so you get like... 20 seconds).
This show really has no points it excels in. But at the same time, it can still be enjoyable to mindlessly veg-out and watch, as long as you go into each episode knowing there will be zero tension and a new girl will most definitely be added to the harem.

(Spoiler-ish review... no important plot points revealed) I can't say this is a great anime. Enjoyable... to a degree. But not great. If you're set on blood/gore/explosions to determine your anime choice. This is DEFINITELY the right show for you. If you get annoyed at plot holes/continuity errors/inconsistency... not the anime for you.
There was far too much inconsistency in the titans. I don't know if I should fault this to the art department or the story. One scene you'll see a titan who is clearly 200 or more feet tall (as it is towering over the 50 meter wall...
...
roughly 150 feet) and then the next scene that same exact titan is about twice the size of a two-story building (so maybe 40-50 feet tall).
Then there's the ease with which the titans breached the initial two walls of the series. Titans of all sizes seem to be perfectly capable of crumbling the walls like it was plywood. If these walls were so easy to destroy why would it take them 100 years to get around to doing so? If the titans are so powerful AND hungry for humans... why did they not kill them all off LONG before the walls were finished? And on that note... HOW did they even finish those huge walls in what the show simply refers to as a "little time" since the walls had been up for 100 years and the titans only appeared a little over 100 years ago. That outer wall itself is a feat that would take centuries to complete, not to mention the inner wall or the central citadel.
There are many other issues as well, however, in short if you don't think too hard about what you're watching and just want some action... watch and enjoy. Unfortunately, if you find yourself annoyed at questionable "hollywood" physics in things like transformers... you too will probably find yourself questioning HOW all of these things happen, too much to enjoy the show.
This is STRICTLY a review of the anime. I don't know if the manga is better... and honestly this show didn't leave me caring enough about it to check.

This is a fairly straight-forward "cut & paste" shounen anime. There's nothing inherently wrong with that, if you enjoy the standard recipe you'll like the story. If you're looking for originality... this isn't the story for you, however, unoriginal doesn't mean unenjoyable. If this was the only fault I'd easily give this a 7 or 8.
The REAL part that grated on my nerves from the very beginning was Asta... if this show had been 90-95% about Yuno and occasionally bring in Asta for comic relief we could have a decent show here. Instead, now we have a main character who has no

character back story aside from being annoying and obnoxious (as the anime called it... lively... or spunky). And this flaw is constantly reinforced by the shrill voice of the voice actor playing him, and the fact he is screaming in a supremely irritating fashion for probably 3-4 minutes (combined) of each 24 minute episode. (I refuse to go back and time it, but the first 2 episodes felt like half the show was just his screaming)
I will admit, the manga is better (you don't have to hear his screams constantly) but since this is a review of the Anime and not the manga, it is a moot point.
