From the hardcore 6+hrs a day anime watcher to watching through episodes almost never between 6 months-ish, I saw my transformation from a hardcore anime-girl to a hardcore gamer xD This also explains my preference with male characters; a bunch of FF games feature male leads and honestly speaking, this only made me more comfy to play as a male chara even in MMOs or just any other Gane where you could choose the gender of your character. My first games started with GBA and the ultimate credits goes to Pokémon FireRed, growing up I could only think about the next game to play after Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Heck only if we could add J-RPGs on this website and my list would've been full with 8-10 rated games xD
Playing games changed my view on anime; if you GET to make your own choices, things get automatically better. The fight scenes more perfect and a more satisfying sense of achievement than just cheering for your chara who generally follows the same "gets beat up but with the power of friendship get the ultimate boss in the end, with God knows whatever source of energy that they manage to extract outta themselves at the right moment". I'm not demeaning those sort of anime as a whole but to me, the sense of achievement is far more important when you do so yourself, not watching someone do it while I sit back.
