I'm going to start this review off by stating how I know there are tons of reviews for this series already so I'm not going into too much detail of the actual plot.
TL;DR:
It was very hard to enjoy this show as someone who isn't a shut-in neet who is only concerned with their own feelings. I'm a weeb, but not an antisocial dork who is the epitome of "nice guys always finish last" or incel activity.
Not saying that if you like the show you're someone who fits that description, but if you truly relate to the self insert character that is 8man, you probably do
...
fit that description.
In my opinion Oregairu is nothing more than a self insert story. It is a fairly well executed story as its so widely loved by losers who "Live in a society." But for an introvert without a superiority complex, I found it hard to get through the first season of this show.
-BIG FAT SPOILER-
I truly predicted the outcome of the show from the first episode, and was right. This isn't something great for a romantic drama that is supposed to be super deep and well thought out. If it were super deep and well thought out, there should be opportunities for the viewer to question a character's feelings towards another in the same way Hachiman does, but you can't, there are no seeds of doubt to be planted as everything is predictable.
-END OF BIG FAT SPOILER-
All of the character's main intentions are laid bare in front of the viewer, and then painstakingly elaborated in ways that counterract previous statments and often sound comically pretentious.
The humor in this show isn't something that will make you laugh out loud and it typically sticks to the same format of "witty" jokes and situations you've seen in plenty of other typical Rom-com animanga.
Most of the characters as I've already stated, are pretty devoid of realism to actual high school actions, this show doesn't accurately portray highschoolers, mostly exaggerated character tropes that seem to be tried and true for both japanese and western audiences

There already are billions of reviews on this series, but the second season of Oregairu stood out to me the most.
Hachiman's pessimistic nature still got on my nerves, but it was counteracted by the introduction of Iroha, who the more I think about it, is my favorite character of the series.
I'm coming back writing this review months after finishing the season and sadly, nothing clearly stood out in my memory other than the conclusion of the season. I'll admit I remember clearly enjoying the second season and getting excited for the direction the series could have been taken, I felt like there were opportunities
...
for Hachiman to evolve from being a generic self-insert character to someone more unique. Sadly season 3 brutally crushed all my hopes and desires of this being a series I would recommend, butchered all of the characters, and left me in a bad mood afterward.
But anywho, coming from someone who had trouble relating to Hachiman and his pretentious ideologies, I generally enjoyed the second season.
But listen, ladies, if the guy you're talking to truly thinks Oregairu is the best romance anime, please do yourself a favor and run.

I really want to give this something more than a 6, I truly do, but it would be a complete lie.
Juujika no Rokunin is a psychological horror manga that follows a classic revenge plot.
If it had stuck to its revenge plot and maybe spent more time building off of it rather than giving us all of the story in the first chapter and devoting the rest to mindless torture porn thats based off of shock value.
I would have loved to see MC's slow development into a cold blooded killer, or into a deranged lunatic hell bent on avenging his parents death and his brother's
...
maiming. But no, it all happens in an offscreen time skip and he is just badass because he is. I'm also incredibly dissappointed in all of the female characters in this series, all they ever seem to be able to do is get themselves raped, almost raped, or into a sexually degraded state. Look, if it's well written and serves a higher purpose to the mc or the character herself, I wouldn't care. But we've seen every girl who has a name be treated in a sexually degrading manner, and none of them seem to have a ton of fight in them.
I would love to see the girl who's crushing on the mc turn into a ruthless sadist who devotes all of her energy into brutalizing pedophiles, but she just gets taken advantage of every damn time.
I love the art in this, its gruesome, its well drawn, but it lacks the oomph that could have come with any sort of a deeper meaning in the story.
I have no emotion towards the antagonists besides disgust, maybe thats because the mc is detatched the same way, but I'm sure the author wasn't planning on that symbolism because this story truly isnt deep enough for that.
I'll give it a 7 for now in hopes of seeing it become something good but I dont have my hopes set too high.
Story: 4/10
Art: 9/10
Character: 7/10
Enjoyment: 7/10

There are already billions of reviews on this masterpiece so I'm going to keep it short and sweet.
I wanted to wait for a while before coming back to review monster because it feels like something that needs to sink in. I'm someone who usually binges manga and I realized that as much as I wanted to, reading it all in one go doesn't do the story justice.
Monster is quite literally peak fiction, the story, the characters, the artwork, it all comes together as a greater whole, one that I've been thinking about quite a bit and I crave to experience something like it.
I'm
...
doing my very best to spoil as little as possible, so I'll explain the basic premise, it is in a sense a redemption/revenge story, but calling that would be downplaying its true meaning. The branching storylines and predictable but unpredictable plot twists which all come together in the final arc was a true pleasure to experience. Tenma is one of the most relatable characters (for me) in literature.
(somewhat of a spoiler)
Johan and Roberto are some of the most truly encaptivating antagonists I've ever experienced. Johan felt like a character you hate to love, and Roberto felt like a character you love to hate. But that's just the surface of the amazing design that are the characters in Monster.
Every single side character felt like they had importance to the story as a whole, not one felt out of place or serving a basic purpose (comic relief or foil.) I found myself easily attached to characters introducted more than halfway into the story, and all of their conclusions felt like they served a purpose to the reader, only engrossing them more into the story.
I wouldn't personally say that the art is something that is gorgeous and elegant, instead well-toned to the feel of the story itself. Being set in the '90s, everything feels era-appropriate and all of the character designs are memorable and grounded in reality. But where the art truly shines, is the paneling, angles, and choreography all felt cinematic, perfectly capturing the nature of the monster itself, There was no point where a single scene felt unrealistic or overdramatized, it all flew together beautifully.
One thing to point out, but it didn't bother me. There is a lot to read in monster, I had shown it to my friend and he felt turned off by the amount of text in the bubbles.
I wholeheartedly recommend monster to anyone and everyone, regardless of if they enjoy Manga or comic books.
with that, I'm going to give my ratings

I've written reviews on other sites but I have to make my first manga review on Nagatoro.
Simple answer: You should give this manga a try.
now for the meat of the review.
/////Mild Spoilers/////
Nagatoro is what I would heavily consider a hit or miss story. If you're not interested in the first 5 chapters, go ahead and set down the story and come back to it some other time. That being said, if you're alright with the initial sadistic nature of Nagatoro, and the self-insert qualities of senpai, you would enjoy the beginning of this manga.
I first found out about Nagatoro through recommendations from MAL and other
...
sites, but after taking a peek at the synopsis, I said I would pass. Being caught up to a lot of romantic comedies and slice-of-life mangas, I needed something new. After hearing about the anime adaptation I figured there was no better time than now to check it out.
I'm very happy I started when I did.
At the time of writing this, Nagatoro has 79 chapters out, and the author says 80 is gonna be the biggest one to date. The anticipation is quite literally killing me. The beginning of the story does little other than satisfy self insert masochistic virgins. Not incredibly appealing right? Wrong, Nagatoro does my absolute favorite thing in any romantic slice of life comedy, it evolves. It reminds me of a slightly paced-up version of Rent a Girlfriend, combined with Kaguya Sama. If you care for either one of those mangas, You would most likely enjoy this one.
Senpai's character evolves from being a loser cuck who enjoys being trodden on by a girl younger than him, to a normalfag who wholeheartedly cares for his Kouhai, even teasing her back and putting up with her endless gags and pranks. Nagatoro evolves from being a sadistic dominating girl to a kindhearted Sado-tsundere who is coming to terms with her attraction to her Senpai.
Harem free, NTR free, Love-Triangle free, this manga satisfies all my primal urges. With the only exception being Nagatoro looking quite childish, which I don't particularly rock with. After the first 12 chapters it stops feeling like a self-insert, and more like a unique take on an already heavily played out eechi romance genre.
Story 8/10
it might be highballing but I think it's reasonable, the fleshed-out characters add to a more unique story.
Art 10/10
While nothing exceptional, author is also a doujin writer(with some nasty stuff at that) and has a knack for drawing facial expressions of all kinds, +1 for Nagatoro's evil smiles.
edit: changed art from 8-10, never fully realized how amazing Nanashi's artwork and shading is, truly is eye candy to read
Character 9/10
While typical, Main Girl is actually a tsundere, submissive beta Main Boy is slowly becoming a chad, Their beginnings and growths feel like a different take on the already incredibly played out tropes, all the side characters also have their own unique defining traits that are brought to the table, all helping the story progress in a way that feels natural.
Enjoyment 9.5/10
This manga is hilarious, the scenes, atmospheres, dialogue, and character behaviors are all enough to make me laugh out loud, as I write this review I notice more and more about the story that I didn't before, and it only makes my opinion grow. I give the -.5 simply because of how self inserting the first few chapters felt.
Overall 8.5/10
Do I think this is the best romantic manga, hell no. Do I think this is one of my favorites, hell yes. The charm of this manga is enough to keep me coming back for more until some sort of horrible doujin ntr mind break plot happens(but considering the direction the author has taken the story I would be surprised if it happens), even then it would have to be really scummy to keep me from reading it.
Thanks for reading, I hope this encourages you to read it.
(I understand my grammar may be lacking, but I truly don't care, just read the manga)
