The best alternative to this story would be The Knight and Her Emperor, there is an arc that's similar to this one but leads up to it better with the characters' relationships.

It's a pretty basic series with no real "twist" that'll make it stand out and very slow-paced. There seems to be a B-plot in the background but it isn't really given much of the attention it deserves despite it having the potential for its own story with political espionage and human experimentation. There's honestly nothing I can say I hate about the story aside from the male lead Simon. If it weren't for the ... Bplot you'd think that he's the villain of the story, he has no redeeming qualities whatsoever, is completely obsessed with the female lead, threatens people, is rude to everyone around him regardless of rank or status, acts like a spoiled child, and frankly, he's a huge Yandere that he spends a lot of time considering self-harm, suicide, killing the people around her out of pure jealousy, amputation, and imprisonment just because she's not around.
However, it is written as if he's just a tragic hero anguishing over his lost love but non he literally has no redeeming qualities, because he feels like he is entitled to her. But if you really think about it for a minute, a mind-altering substance was used for them to have sex but he says that because he is a high-level mage it had no effect on him, so you can say it was like he drugged her.

If you're going to read it all in one sitting or as quickly as possible, you'll notice how quick it is to just switch genres/story direction. It has no real tone or idea with what it wants to be, from the first chapter you expect it to have some sci-fi elements, with the body-switching but the ones responsible aren't even mentioned until the end of the story. It also just leaves one of the two characters who should be part of the focus of this story basically braindead and ignored for more than half of the story and even then he's ignored

It's a good story, like a mix of "Air Gear" and "The Breaker" and that would be great if it was mixed well, but it isn't. It's like two different stories when it shifts attention from the main protagonist with comedy with amazing fight scenes to some sort of chess match between the other characters each trying to trick the others into fulfilling their own goals. That's what really stops me from liking most of the side characters since they all have selfish goals and secret plans that would be pointless if they actually talked about it out loud.
I think the first half ... is the best, focusing only on the protagonist and him trying to establish himself. I was hoping it would stay that way with him being weak, relying on his exeprince/fighting dirty and what little power he had. But they don't stick to that. Worst part would be the ending that came out of left field and no hope of a sequel in sight
