Need a show to introduce your kids to Anime? This is it. Looking for a wholesome, almost too sappy anime? Here it is. Half the time it's almost a version of Sesame Street. So why would an adult watch it? It was cute and funny. Animation and voice acting were top-notch and the music was an integral part of the show, not just background. It's a world where gods appear to people they favor and grand their "blessings", basically raising them up above others. Which is ironic, since the show is about a noble who condemns how they are raised up above others by birth.

Apocalypse Hotel

This is what I'd call the sleeper anime of the season. I found it by accident and watched the first episode mainly because of the title. Ever seen "Planetarium"? Same vibe. Except Earth is 100% devoid of animal life. Just plants and robots, and gradually, aliens. The owner of the Gingaro Hotel left his robot staff with one basic set of commands, basically a 10 commandments of hotel hospitality. This is a heart-string tugging, laugh out loud, yell at the screen series. If you've ever lost someone dear to you, you'll be crying at a couple of episodes because they handle it perfectly. But you'll

Right in the middle - nothing special, but not bad. Animation is that annoying style where anyone that's not a main character does not even have a face. Half the "animation" is pan and scan, so many scenes are like looking at a manga page someone is moving a camera over. The characters are 100% cookie cutter generic fluff, and the protagonist is your typical OP clueless teenager. But the author thinks they are clever and original, and it's - gasp! - a girl. That's the plot in a nutshell. Clueless girl with near super-powers has all the cute guys chasing her.

If you're over 35 you'll love this series. If you're younger you probably can't connect with it and that's obvious by the number of "Not Recommended" reviews. It's an anime with a more mature outlook on life - not in the ecchi sense - there's zero fanservice. It's the outlook on life. The main character - the titular "Bumpkin" is not OP, just skilled from a life of dedication to the sword. He's a teacher at heart. Modest to a fault, and is not jealous of the success of his students - he's genuinely happy for them. His female students love him and many

This is another one to watch if you have nothing better to do. The lack of movement in the animation is off-putting. Look at Shangri La Frontier - where 20 minutes is dedicated to a single fight in amazing detail. Same with Failure Frame - the animation detail is exquisite. Then you have this - that's almost like a flip-page animation, but with even less frames. The story is decent, but the most interesting character - and one I would have liked to have more of was the white dragon. You'll know why if you see this anime. No spoilers. It's pretty bad when an

Just completed it and it's 100% "meh." I needed something to fill in the gaps to do my "watch two different anime...." every day. That's 14 a week. So this was not in my top 5 or bottom 5. Right in the middle, and that's where it deserved to be. No "I wish there will be a season 2" as one season was enough. Animation was average at best, voice acting was good, but the plot was 100% cookie cutter and a clone of a dozen other "unaware that they are OP" protagonist series. You know the ones - everything the hero of the

Considering the plot and the goal of the story, we know that every episode is all about emotional bonds. Life, death, love, family. I guarantee you'll cry at least once every couple of episodes if you've even lost family or a loved one. The writing, animation voice action are all top-notch and the music is fantastic. Yes, it tugs at your emotions but we expect that. It's a novel concept for an anime - or at least one I have not seen before now. Sure, it's a serious topic - one's mortality and what to do when you know exactly when your time is up.

I like at least a *little* plot in my anime. A little character development. A hook to keep me interested. The synopsis, probably the most idiotic I've ever seen, is that when she removes any part of her underwear she time-travels. Gets a 98 on a test? Time travels and fixes it. You know, the really important stuff. She basically blackmails this kid into being her "closet", meaning he has to constantly replace her underwear, usually in the middle of a crowded room. Without anyone noticing. Like in the literal middle of a class. So many points of this anime are just beyond idiotic. The

I initially skipped Dan Da Dan. The style seemed strange and I find than anime that "everyone is talking about" are often just hype. But, the season was over, my list of current anime was dwindling, so I decided to give Dan Da Dan a try. I binged it in two days. The animation is fantastic, it's a mix of different styles - even in the same scene. The action is fast-paced and insane and often makes zero sense. The plots are, er, nuts. And bananas. Just plain crazy. It's like Chainsaw Man and Mashle had a love child that lives on psychedelic mushrooms.

Overall - it was enjoyable. And also unoriginal and 100% forgettable. You know how you'll watch a last episode and think "Man, I can't wait for a season 2!!!" Not here. One season is enough. What was really terrible was the translations. For example, Laust is always called "O-niisan" by Narsena. But the translation is "Laust." Same thing throughout the anime - it's off-putting. Then there's the animation. Some of it is just terrible. The perspective is often mixed up, Laust is holding a long knife, then sword, then knife, then who-knows-what - a crooked line? A stick? There's little detail anywhere and the
