I really enjoy watching yugioh 5D's. I even watched it twice.. But arc v is not

To make it short, I really hate Yugioh arc v very very much...

What I like for this series are:
1. Introducing pendulum summon
2. Introducing old characters from previous series (but they are different though)

But, I hate it because:
1. Duels dependent too much with action cards.. The character duel with run and jump to many place to gather the action card, for me, it is cheating.. Yuya cheat too much.. The duels in overall make me want to vomit.
...
2. For me, Yuya characteristic is as bad as Yuma. Different with Yusei, Yuya is too childish and too reckless.

3. Sometimes, I don't really understand. The characters battle just to decide whether the opponent is good or bad.... "Oh yeah.. I lost.. So, you are a good person"... "Oh yea.. I won. So, I can make you smile".. "Oh yea.. I lost, I can smile now".. It is too childish..

Again, I wanna say
I am an avid Yugioh Player and also play Yugioh online (Accelerator, YgoPro, duelingnetwork). For me, the duel in anime is suck. Too much dependent on action cards and action cards.. The duel length is mostly very very short... In average only 4 or 6 turns.. And yea, in anime, we rarely saw Yuya hold on attack, because actually Yuya does not really have cards to negate attack, so he dependant with action cards, which is for me is cheat..

There are some duel worthy to mention, that is duel with Zarc (because they cannot use action cards though) and Yuya's father vs yuri (also without action cards). Other than that, the duel is cheat and not worthy to watch.



I hope there remove action duel and make the better plot and characters for the next series... Or I will just drop it.

It is my mistake to have a great expectation in this anime.

The concept is actually not original.. Many times, there are already many concept like this: "come back to school and make a change".

But, there are FAIL parts in this anime. That's why I rated it as BAD:
The story is in fact just a high school drama with a simple conflict and simple romance.. It is for casual watching. (Compare for example: "my boss my hero" dorama, this anime is lack of things).. Every high school boys can do what Kaizaki Arata (the main character) does. So, when you said: "You can make change by ... come back to high school". Well, everybody (not just Kaizaki) can do that, even better.. What the MC does are action that every normal high school boys can think of..

I expect more complicated conflict that only grown-ups can solve it OR perhaps the MC has something different that nobody has it.. (Come on... he is grown up!) and this anime failed it.. I even wonder why the creator put the theme "back to school" when all the MC does is just ordinary high school student. Nothing special.

Hikaru no Go is an anime told a story about Japanese board game "Go" or "Igo" 19x19 board game where you put stone to make a bigger territory than your opponent.

The people who don't ever watch Hikaru No Go might have below perception:
- I cannot play go and will not play go, so I won't watch it, OR
- Go is a boring game, I cannot catch up with the rules, OR
- A chess-like game plot must be like "I lose, so I have to train harder", "I face a difficult opponent, I have to keep my spirit up and concentrate". This is to predictable!

That is ... NOT TRUE, because
Hikaru no go is an anime not focusing about the go board game. It is about rivalry of 2 people, Hikaru and Akira with a "Go board game" as a link. The rule here is not discussed to deep, even the newbie like me can understand the story. This is an anime about emotion (happy, sad), and not discuss about go technical (a basic might be important though). This anime will bring you into a better person not only in go, but in every aspect in your life, especially at work.

THE GOOD SIDE

The 75 episode in this anime never make me boring. Even I rewatch this 2 or 3 times. The anime's plot is very good the start is very promising. Each episodes make you wonder what will the next episode looks like. You will wonder how this anime will end enthusiastically.

The first episodes are the start of the excitement.

There is a boy "Hikaru", a not very smart and a reckless boy, met a "ghost" named "Sai". Sai is from an era when a "Go" game is so popular and he is very strong at Go. However Hikaru cannot play Go at all.
There is also a boy "Akira", a serious boy who play Go since childhood and believe by many people that he will be a pro Go player soon.

Now the 2 person meets. Akira is easily beaten by Hikaru, a newbie (of course because of the help from ghost.)
In perspective from Akira, he lose from a newbie. He is so desperate.
In perspective from Hikaru, he won because it is not his true power. Yes, he is so desperate (at later episodes)

The characters emotion and growth is very detail in this anime. You might find how desperate Hkaru want to beat Akira, how desperate Akira to lose by a newbie. At later stage, you will find many individual conflicts from go players. For example, how a person can be so desperate by always losing, or how a person can be so desperate by losing something important in life, or do you ever feel you jealous so much. Yes, is is an anime that might make you cry. I also experienced the same in my life.

I am glad that the ghost part is not too significant. Sai is truly a support character in this shows. Sai has overwhelming power, yet he is still humble so does Hikaru. He use Sai's power to learn, he is not using the power to be arrogant.

This anime will present you how a character can grow from a child in episode 1 to a mature in episode 75. The concrete thing you can see directly is the height of each characters.

This show defines the "rivalry" very great.
Akira and Hikaru turn the desperation into evolution to something better and better. This is so good when you really implement this in your real life.
Rivalry is actually something good when you look at different perspective, yet many people think rivalry is like a villain and a hero.. It is not.

Watch this if you really like an emotional (happy, sad, etc) anime, yet also deliver good messages. This anime also defines the rivalry very great.

This is a continue review from Chihayafuru season 1. Well, then the characters goes into second semester and tried to achieve what they lack in the first semester: high school competition, training karuta new members, achieving higher rank per individual, and winning solo championship.

THE BAD SIDE FROM SEASON 2

1. The season 1 is good because it covers many strategy you did not know, but in season 2, there is just a little new strategy introduced.
One of the strategy is to hear multiple syllable in instant. For me it is BAD. How come human can achieve multi syllable by single syllable, no one ... in the real world can even differentiate that. The anime tends to be unrealistic here. (OK, I know that you can hear from the tone. The tone might be different, but still, it is near impossible for human in real life even the karuta master in real life to differentiate that.).
2. The ending for Chihayafuru 2 is also premature We cannot called that as ending. (The manga still continue though)
3. The new characters (junior that join karuta club) is just a mere addition who will not affect the story much. It is a mere achievement for Chihaya Ayase.
4. This season 2 tends to be like other mainstream sport anime: "Do not give up when facing strong opponent", or "You can do it", "If you lose, don't lose hope". I am a little bored.

1. It is still good to know that the main characters here now have a rival to defeat and the struggling of losing in this anime is quite realistic. There is still emotion here in this anime. The intensity of the competition is also well executed.
2. The romance parts still executed well in this season. The more episodes, the more I want to know who end up with who.
3. There is twists here. Some objective sometimes should be sacrificed. Well..

Watch this if you only watch the chihayafuru season 1. It is still good.
It is 7/10 because the reason I stated above.

At first, I don't really want to watch this anime which type is "science-fiction", because the fiction part may take the most rather than the science and the story may be made up and too random.
I am glad that this anime is too good. In fact this anime has more part in "intensity" and "thriller" and "mystery" than the science fiction part.

Well. This anime concept is about "Time travelling" anime. Perhaps, there are so many anime with the same concept like this. Okabe Rintarou as the main characters invented a machine that can send message to the past.. Well, seems no interesting right? How ... about the message can change the world so differently...

For Example, you send message to the past "Do push up this morning", then a world changed so differently... And, you don't even know how come it can be changed.. You will end up ask yourself why. This is why this anime concept is so good, because it will bring mystery as well as thriller.

WHAT I LIKE

Well I like most of them.
The art is beautiful. The light, the gray and color composition.
I like the way they manage to decide to play background sound or not. It is so interesting.
I like the mysterious part of the anime. Why this become this, how come..
The emotion is strong. I can feel the happiness, the sadness, the disappointment. The intensity.
The characters has so many diversity and very constant through the anime and then their true colors is covered at the later episodes and make the twists.

BAD PART

Some people say the first episodes is draggy and boring, but it is needed to bring the shows and introduce the main conflict.
Well, sometimes, you don't need to explain the science part though because it is fiction, viewers actually do not need to know the wave or the compression, etc, but it is okay because it is not too much. Perhaps only 3 or 5 minutes maximum.
I also don't care about the minor plot hole here. But It is okay for me, because it is too minor to be noticeable.

This is about the mystery thriller anime wrapped in science action theme and this is the best mystery-thriller anime I have ever seen.

I never expect a simple game like karuta can be so interesting in this anime.

NOT JUST ANOTHER SPORT ANIME

Yes, it is like a sport. I compare this anime to another sport anime like chess, volley, badminton, soccer, etc.
It is just memorizing placement of your cards, memorizing enemy cards, hearing poems, and place your hand on top of the correct card. Simple as that!

But, this is different.

Previously I thought "Ah, this is just another sport anime. If you win, you get prize and happiness. If you lose, you just train harder. If you face stronger opponent, you have to keep your spirit and never give up.... ... It might be so boringgggg. I can guess all of the plot"...

But this is different!!

1. The karuta shown here is deep
Not only memorizing, but also mental, concentration, hearing, placement, luck, team work strategy is discussed in this anime. It is so good to know that a simple game like this can have so many strategy inside.
2. The main character is good
But, the characters here is a good characters. She learn from her mistake. Learn to treat people, learn to be a better person, learn to empathy, learn to love, learn to give thank you and sorry. Watching this is like you watch a slice of life and learn how to be a better person with karuta as a link.
3. wrapped in a comedy-romance.
There is a love-triangle inside the show, and It make the watchers curious about who will end up with who.
4. fast paced. It is different with another sport anime like baseball, soccer, boxing, basketball, etc which every competition might take 5 episodes or more and it is draggy. Here, 1 competition perhaps only 10 minutes (except the final match, maybe longer)..
5. the art is good, even though it is more like a shoujo anime rather than shonen.

Not really have a bad part. Sometimes, I don't care about winning or losing in this match, so for me. There is too many inside thinking like "I have to concentrate", "I still can do it". The competition seems too long and dragging sometimes.

So, I recommend you to watch this anime if you like a romance-comedy-sport drama. If you consider this anime as romance anime, it is also okay, because the romance is top notch! If you consider this as sport anime, this is also okay, because the sport thing here is top notch.

THE GOOD THING ABOUT THIS ANIME: THE CONCEPT

The good thing about this anime is the concept is different with other superhero anime. Normally, you will watch super villain who smart and very dangerous, and the super hero who want to protect the city at all cost. Normally it is serious.

In this anime, THE CONCEPT IS FLIPPED upside down
Now, the villain is just a stupid person who want to beat the others and the main character is super strong and can beat the villain into pulp by just one punch. And it is wrapped in comedy-action drama.

... The concept is good.

THE BAD THING ABOUT THIS ANIME: ALL EXCEPT THE CONCEPT

I expect this to be a good comedy anime, so I just sit casually, but...

1. First, the comedy is not really funny. In the first episode, There is a child with chin like a butt. I find it is not funny at all. Then, most of every episode there is a naked man. Then the bad guy turns into a stupid person who act cool when winning. "I sound like a robot to make it cool". And this joke is repetitive. The same joke is shown over and over.

2. The main characters is a hero for fun. He has no interest at helping people at all. He is so selfish and egoist.
If there are monsters, he does not care about the others' safety. If others are injured and like dying, he does not care, or sometimes he just asked "are you alive?" but nothing more.
He rarely listens to other people and rarely becomes serious in real life.
He does not care about others' opinion about himself because at the first place, he is already been by himself alone. He is anti-social and never in this anime he decided to discuss about plan or working together..

The main character here is not a good character. I bet if Saitama does not have the power, nobody will praise him for his attitude.
The only good character in this anime is mumen rider. Even though he is weak, he keep trying to help others.

3. No main conflict and no twist.
In this 12 episodes anime, you will find repetitive episode over and over.
The difference is there is another new villain.
There is a little conflict though: "a hero who do not get appraised", but actually saitama do not care at all, because at the first place he is anti-social. He did not get any disadvantages at all because of this issue.
Then, no twist. Saitama is still the most powerful character till the end.

So, here I will give 4 as bad.
It will be good if you have a different taste of joke than me.
However, I prefer joke like "si juki" or "Bowling King" who can make you laugh hard.

I first time watched this anime in 2011 and I never forget the enjoyment till now. The first time I decided to watch this anime is because my friend recommended this to me, but at the first time, I feel the title is not too appealing. But, it is really good actually!

This is a story about superheroes in a city (take place in America). What make it different is: there are agents that make use of them for television shows purpose! So, imagine if in the city there are burglary, then immediately a helicopter is coming and they broadcast the fight between the superhero and ... the burglar to the viewers. The superhero itself is a kind of job to get money and become superstar!

Now the main characters are Kotetsu, an old man with a daughter.
Why the anime name is Tiger and Bunny is because Kotetsu wears the TIGER suit when doing the job as superhero, and he pairs with a "seems promising and intellectual" guy named Barnaby Brooks who wears a BUNNY suit. They are not really friends but they have to work together in the field because of their job...

WHY I LIKE IT

It is because the concept is good. I never watched other anime like this before. It is face paced 25 episode-anime with a great characters.

The 1 to 8 first episode might quite slow,but episode above 8 is addictive. I never find any other anime that the villain is like this and to how to beat it is also different with other anime. The main characters have to have a plan to beat a villain, not just doing push up or sit up or etc, etc. The other characters' background are presented well in certain episodes.

There are many conflict presented in this series as example: How to handle the job as superhero. How to have time with family while you are busy with your job. How to beat a villain who are impossible to beat. Who is actually the villain.
Ah. You might think that the conflict is the same like another superheroes movies like SUPERMAN or SPIDERMAN, aren't you? It is different, because the main character here, Kotetsu and Barnaby, are actually not as strong as spiderman or superman, and many is different including the power they have and the villain. Tiger and Bunny is not the only superheroes in the city, but actually there are many other superheroes.

The series is funny, but most of the time it is serious. When it is in serious moment, I can feel the thrill and excitement.

The action fight is really short. 10 minutes maximum. THAT'S WHY I LIKE IT. If the fight take above 10 minutes, it will be too dragging and boring. I don't want to watch one thousand punch fighting or kamekameha fighting like dragonball that each battle might take 5 episodes or more... I don't want to see another fight punch here and punch there with the tactic of super hero manipulation. I don't want to see fight where the main characters evolve the punch from version 3 to 4, or from 4 to 5, because if it is like that, again it will be too boring. However, Tiger and Bunny is not like that. It is short but the action is exciting to watch.

The shows present predictable moment and also unpredictable moment quite fairly. It is easy to predict that the main characters will win of course, but the problem is the "what", "why", "how", and "what the impact if you win" is something you cannot predict.

The ending might be unsatisfying by the others, but for me it is quite good and realistic. If there is second season, I definitely will watch it.

The story might be separate into arcs and they are independent:
- Hunter Exam arc - 21 eps
- Zoldyck Family arc - 5 eps
... - Heavens Arena - 10 eps
- Yorknew City arc - 22 eps
- Greed Island - 17 eps
- Chimera Ants - 61 eps
- Hunter Chairman Election - 12 eps

WHY I DO LIKE IT?

Because Yorknew City Arc (episode 40 -58) is great. The arcs is good because it consists of many twists and unpredictable moments. After seeing an episode, I just want to see another episode of Yorknew City Arcs. The villain are not just an ordinary villain, but also smart. Gon, Killua, Kurapika and Leorio are joined together to hunt the enemies together and this make the arcs so interesting.

WHY I DO NOT LIKE IT?

Because the other arcs are really terrible and that make the whole anime not so good. In details are below:
1. At first I thought this is an anime about hunting, and focus on hunting. However it turns out to be more focus about "super power" thing like dragon ball anime at the later episodes.
So, a super villain appears -> main characters train -> main characters beat villain -> another super villain appears -> main characters train -> main characters beat villain -> loop forever.

Why do Gon want to be a hunter??
Why Killua want to be a hunter??
Why Kurapika and Leorio want to be a hunter?
I find the the reason to be a hunter is not realistic.
They actually can achieve the same result WITHOUT being a hunter.
(Don't misinterpret my sentence here. Gon want to find about his father by becoming hunter.. I know it seems logical for other viewers but not me. To find about his father, there are always another alternative!! The same goes to Kurapika, and Leorio. Money can always be got from somewhere else while being a hunter do not guarantee easy money. To get access to information, you always have a way, like borrowing license.)
The Hunter association itself is not really clear. What is the hunter job? May the bad people can be a hunter and misuse the hunter license? It is really a plot hole here.
And why Gon only want to find his father, not his mother also? Because he think because his mother is a female it might replace mito san?? So, It is because of gender reason??? that reason without a doubt make Gon an TRULY REALLY SELFISH RACIST character and I hate it.

3. Many episodes in this anime are too DRAGGING and BORING. Sometimes, I just watch 15 minutes of narrator explaining about super power thing. Sometimes, the narrator is too annoying, he explains too much detail and ruins the story.
For example, when a person is walking from A to B, the narrator said "A is walking from A to B quietly" which is not needed because the watcher can see it by ourselves.
Sometimes, the animation is replaced by a static picture with a narrator explaining. This ruins the arts.
The episodes about Gon and Killua training are also too long.
The super power is also unrealistic and too complicated.. Complicated one just make the story boringggg...
The conversation about super power is the one I avoid most, and it is almost 50% of the anime.. I don't need an explanation about A can have an aura 15 meters or the aura A can beat aura B and aura C can beat aura D with prerequisite and exception F, G, H...

If the shows only consists Yorknew City alone, perhaps I will give rating 9. The other arcs is terrible and without Yorknew City arcs, I will give it 5 at best. So, I put an average here: 6.
If you like superpower anime like dragonball, or the law of ueki, you might like this one also. But, for me those animes are I avoid the most.
