As for Devilman, I finished all the necessary stuff. Alternative stuff can wait.

Not sure what said semitomboy thinks of Gundam SEED Freedom, but it's like one of the best movies this year and definitely one she would enjoy.

My other friend is a huge fan of Rie Tanaka and Kotono Mitsuishi. Yes, Chii and Sailor Moon, that is.

I never thought I'd picture Houko Kuwashima take on a new role in that movie. People see her as Sango, but I see her as Isara Gunther.

Houko Kuwashima is one of the reasons why re-watched Madlax three years ago.

I have yet to watch that Marvel movie and it's been years since I last watched anything Marvel in theaters.

As for cable TV, it just doesn't feel as magical anymore and I'm thinking of checking out this TubiTV stuff some time.

Instead of HiDive or RetroCrush, I would use Aniwave which I'll also use for watching Fafner: The Beyond.

Speaking of Fafner, I hope that season 3 will be about unraveling cosmic origins of those festum antagonists, some malicious alien race that obliterated towns.

Said semitomboy from North Carolina or Jasmine can easily marvel at Hisashi Hirai's character designs.

Other than that, I'm still on a Devilman kick trying to complete Devilman Lady.

I would have given you Instant Japanese by Boyé Lafayette de Mente for your birthday, best teacher there ever was. Chances are, you can easily download that awesome old book. Aside from Genki I, I highly recommend it to beginners.

May that author and Osamu Tezuka RIP. They're about the same age if I recall correctly.

With that said, it's been a long time since I last watched a bunch of anime on cable TV. Like all that ADV dubbed anime, Gate Keepers and even Last Exile.

My semitomboyish friend from North Carolina is a huge fan of Last Exile by the way.

I also remember when I watched the first four episodes of Solty Rei dubbed on that Anime On Demand feature. I also watched it subbed because of Mamiko Noto and Sayaka Ohara.

I can see why Japanese is kind of hard, the particles. Min Chinese or Southern Min may use particles often like Japanese, but in Min Chinese, it's particles are kind of known for being simpler with more consistent grammatical function than in Japanese. Young Taiwanese people prefer Mandarin, but I don't mind Southern Min being the next best language for me to learn. At least the jōyō kanji that I learned in Japanese can be that useful. Why can't Japanese have particles that simple? Not sure how Korean particles work, but I'll see how its grammar works eventually.

Oh! Anime and I go back decades ago. Cable TV was my original source of anime and ANN was one of the first websites that I grew up with. The original anime and manga encyclopedia.

With my Japanese getting close to fluency like that one, nigh middle-aged semitomboy with the Chinese husband, I might be able to buy Japanese imports from Playasia or in Japan. No worrying about bad or politically correct translation. That same semitomboy in her late 30s probably watched the recent Gundam SEED movie without subtitles.

After having finished reading RAW Silent Möbius QD volumes, I'm thinking of reading indie comics.
