Before I start I just wanted to say that this is my first review on an anime.
I just got my copy of Evangelion 2.22 today and I must say, this is past just being a good anime movie, this is a good movie period. The art/graphics are amazing. One thing I liked was how much detail went into facial expressions. In anime (and Neon Genesis Evangelion was no exception) there is usually some stupid facial expression with 2nd grade level drawing. Like swirling eyes, or magically sprouting big lips. That does not happen here. The explosions made me feel like I was watching "Star Wars"

in the sense that each explosion was unique even though they were all ridiculously huge. A lot of detail went into destruction in general in this movie.
I also like how each of the three main (not counting Mari) pilots all grow pretty much equally. Referring back to "Star Wars" it is also similar to that series because the movie jumps into itself. It doesn't really summarize the previous movie, even though the story behind the previous movie is important (star wars just has like a 5 second "blah blah blah" and then begins).
The music is top notch. Even the music for the menu is awesome lol.
If you want to buy a good movie right now you should seriously consider buying this one, and it won't matter if you're new to Evangelion or not (just read about the first movie or the first like 10 episodes of the anime).
