Wow. Where do I begin with this? Darling in the FranXX for the most part, a good anime. The first two-thirds of the show were thoroughly enjoyable. I loved the art style and the characters, and the sounds and music were phenomenal throughout the entire series; however, the story... well that's a different story altogether, no play-on-words intended.
Like I said, the first two-thirds of the show, or the story rather, were great... but it truly peaked at around episode 16. The story's direction kinda one-eighty'd from there, and shit really hit the fan in episode 20. What happened threw the

show through a loop and fucked up the direction one may have thought DitF was going, messed up the pacing, and was unprecedented, shitting on all of the story development up to that point, and caused a sheer drop in my overall thoughts and enjoyment of the series.
Now that the series was in shambles, I almost didn't want to watch through the conclusion, knowing that all I'd longed for the show to be could not be achieved. Alas, I watched through the end. The show never redeemed itself, but I did find myself tearing up as things individual character developments were resolved. That, and that alone, were what gave the show some brownie points back into my final story score.
TL;DR:
Ultimately, I enjoyed Darling in the FranXX more so for the earlier story than the latter, the exceptional soundtrack, and great character and art design. Every girl has their own charms and are waifus in their own respects, but Zero Two is best girl and every other opinion is wrong by fact. "Escape" is best song, followed by "KISS OF DEATH", "Torikago" and "Beautiful World" are also bangers.
