There is nothing new here. Protagonist who had his whole family murdered, needs to get from A to B to defeat and save someone, and so follows that whole script ready for the hero's journey. What compromised the note is the fact that there are precedents (other animes) that take all the elements that Kimetsu no Yaiba proposes, and work in a much better and cohesive way than he himself. The construction of universe and society is very weak, containing a limited collection of information about the limited past and culture of the Demon Slayer universe.

The first 12 episodes from Tokyo Ghoul are outstanding. The art, the soundtrack, the characters and the universe construction are wonderfull.
Then, comes season 2 and ruins everything. Even the author doesn't know how to progress with the own piece he created. But I must say that the first season of Tokyo Ghoul is perfect. The story instigates the viwers to be curious about the universe. Who are the ghouls? Why do they eat human meat? How they can be saved? The first season presents that to us, and we hope to get those answers in the subsequent seasons. The art, even for Pierrot, is magnificent and fluid. ...

Mahou Shoujo Site is one of those animes that comes after Puella Magi: Madoka Magica, the first dark Mahou Shoujo that gets sucessfull and popular, but its edgier, with poor character development and with a bad plot.
The fact of being dark is the only thing that Mahou Shoujo Site has to offer. The sluggish main character suffers from buyiling and familiar abuse, and does nothing to change that, even when she gets her power. The plot consists in a battle royale of magical girls trying to kill each other, with a upcoming treat that will put an end to the world. The motivations of the characters ... |
