It feels like only mediocre stories can get good animation. Why the fuck does Kingdom looks like it and this looks like this? The story and the world and completely boring. This anime is completely saved by the main character who is a complete piece of crap but somehow things always end up just right. Almost as if there is some architect behind it. It's so enjoyable seeing people's reactions to him. Obviously, he isn't likable that's kind of the point. There is very little redeeming about him but since he is the main character he gets everything. There is a meta yet self-indulgent enjoyability ...

Went into this expecting a different experience than it turned out to be. I wanted to watch a mecha anime with some serious stakes. Instead, it wastes its thematic elements to trick the viewer into pathos. The story isn’t making any real statements or examinations into the world they have set. Alice in Borderland is a manga I enjoyed reading. The question of why we live life is a wonderful and difficult theme. The answer the manga comes up with is avoiding the question entirely. As the answer is, it's different for everyone but life is ultimately valuable.

Arisu struggles with a lot of emotional issues and the solution for all of them is a girl. A girl that pathetically only exists as his motivation. The manga makes up for it by other female characters that make an impact, especially in the Side Stories. Arisu is very much a typical Seinen protagonist similar to Battle Royale, ...

You won't have any friends after you do shit like this anywhere. Shit ending. He learned the value of human relationships from the experience and decides to keep his promise despite him not getting his friends back. He becomes more open to people and shows the compassion he saw in his middle school friends that should have been the ending, not some cliche look at everyone being happy endings. Trash, I had such high hopes. I respect a lot of the choices this author made but the guys who wrote Punpun and Hxh are the only authors with balls in this industry.
