If I had to describe this story, then I guess it will have to be “meh.” I think Mao is a sum of how a mangaka can lose her foot in the game, especially after Takahashi has landed major hits in the industry, and she has had endless success over her long career.
There is nothing bad about the story, but there is nothing good about it either. Whenever I read this story, I just feel like I have experienced this before, and that’s unfortunate, since the overall story is much slower and darker than many of her past series. Mao premise so

I don’t know what to say. There is not one compelling or remotely rememberable thing in this manga for me. This manga just screams generic fan fiction. It almost seems like the author wanted to put himself in a universe where he gets to bang different women from different races, while also having the power of Saitama.
The plot is thin, and the characters are flat, so the only thing keeping you invested in this series are the encounters, and even those are underwhelming. The art is standard, and the characters are normal troupes. Overall, I think this is a pass for anyone who is looking ... Nov 22, 2021

I am not a masochist, but I would not mind being the main male lead for the day, lol. So for, I am really enjoying the story of Mato Seihei no Slave. Initially, the story does take a slow start, and it does feel generic within the first couple of chapters, but it does warm up eventually.
The story is simple, but it is also creative. There is fan service, but nothing goes too far and it is done with the flow of the story. The characters are nothing new, and many follow similar troupes of already existing series, but that is not a bad ... Nov 22, 2021

Witch Watch has been very intesting so far, and it has been a series that I routinely read every Sunday. I was a huge fan of Sket Dance several years back, and I loved Astra in Space, so reading this was a no brainer.
So far the plot has been rather thin, and there hasn’t been much that has happened with the characters. But I do have confidence that the the author will attack much more serious plot lines sooner or later. There is a heavy usage of comedy in the plot, and some of the chapters can be hit or miss, but many of ... Nov 22, 2021
Dandadan takes two different genres that have nothing to do with each other, and it somehow creates one of the most thrilling stories of the last couple of years.
So far the story has been very entertaining, and I am thoroughly enjoying the action and comedy of the first few volumes. The characters introduced have been a joy to follow, and each person so far have a certain charm, which makes them unique and distinctive. The art has been solid as well. The mangaka has a unique style, and he does well with motion and paneling, which is always great in a action story. He ... Nov 22, 2021

Call of the Night is much more than the same dry vampire romance story that we are accustomed to reading/ watching. Call of the Night is a story that delves into the roles in which we live in our daily lives, and it questions our existence.
This story follows a young boy, who is fighting the urge to continue his education, and he is pursing the lifestyle of the nighttime. During his adventures he meets this young vampire, and he seeks her affection, since she has the key to make him into another creature of the night. The story makes good use of trying not ... I am surprised at how much I am enjoying this series. I am not much into romance manga, but this series is very charming and well balanced.
The story is based on a girl who is idolized by her entire school, but one day she stumbles on this student, who is a monk in training, and he completely ignores her. She is determined to make him fall for her, but she quickly falls for him instead. Yeah the story is not ground breaking, but it is entertaining to see how the characters interact with each other. The art is very clean and detailed, and the ... Nov 22, 2021

Do not come into this series expecting it to be the Power Rangers, since the story is not focused on the heroes, but instead the villains.
The story is decent, although I wish the pacing and transition was smoother through the panels. Some of the scenes can be frantic and it is hard to decipher what is really happening it many of the battles. This is not helped with the massive load of dialogue, which makes reading the chapters sluggish. The characters for the post part are nothing to write home about. Most are very generic, and are not very appealing. However, a select few are ... Feb 4, 2021

I really wanted to love this series, but I felt the second half was much weaker than the first half. Animal Land is enjoyable, and there are a lot of elements that can be enjoyed by multiple different audiences, but the second half seemed more rushed and less emotionally involving than before the time skip.
The story is based on a boy who is raised by a tanuki, and he is trying to create a world where all animals can coexist together, but while doing this, the young boy Taroza, must also find a way to restore humanity to the world. The plot is very ... |
