Story: (no spoilers included)
The story revolves around the utter intelligent Keima Katsuragi, who's in the second year of high school and is kinda addicted to dating games ( bishojo games to be exact). On the internet he is well known as the god of conquest, for his amazing skill to complete every dating sim and the ability to make every virtual girl fall in love with him. On school he is known as an outsider, which seems logical because that is what happens when you're intelligent and different in high-school. He games all day even in class and it's the only thing he does. One day he gets a message asking him if he wants to conquer more girls, and he answers yes. It turns out to be a contract with the devil, to haunt for evil spirits which hide themselves in the heart of girls. The only way to get them out is to open up their heart (no guys, not literally) and make them fall in love with him. Elsie (a demon and supposedly your comic relief) is send to guide him through his tasks, although she has a hard time getting around in the real world. Keima can't refuse the contract, as it will be his death.
The story is a bit weird, but it does not take away from the fun. The Anime kinda knows the idea is weird and handles that well by not going on to serious about the whole demon Elsie thing. The only problem is with that though, that the Anime also tries to get a message across, which is hard when you aren't to serious. However this Anime just masters it, it completely balances serious stuff with stuff that isn't that serious. The comedy works, the morals work, Elsie's character works, Keima works and even the romance works (yeah, it made me give the awh that's cute smile). Perfect balance in my opinion. Oh yeah, and at the end they give something away about next season, and really it is promising.
Visuals.
The visuals are spectacular by times, but have some flaws too. Sometimes the animation feels a bit sloppy, while other times the amount of details you are able to see is just amazing. To bad it's sloppy at times, otherwise the visuals certainly would have had a 10. Also they tend to put text on-screen and signs, those work very well to.
Voice acting (sub).
The voices are good to. Not the best I've heard but certainly acceptable. Elsie is a bit annoying, but Keima is great as his voice can stay calm at all times (although he is able to sound like a maniac). He kinda reminds me of Light.
Sound.
The sound has its ups and downs. At times it's way to much in the background and you don't pay attention to it at all. At the romantic moments the music is great though and it really adds to the certain atmosphere and switch from fun to serious business.
Re-watch value.
You are probably going to watch this a time or 3, it's epic and very funny. The episodes are also really well watchable alone, although some eps are combined.

Movie: Perfect Blue (パーフェクトブルー)
Genre: Anime/Thriller
Release Year: 1997
Studio: Madhouse
Director: Satoshi Kon (Rest in Peace)
American License: Manga Entertainment LLC.
Story (no spoilers!)
The story is about Mima Kirigoe, a Japanese pop-star who want's to become an actor. She leaves her band CHAM to become successful in a crime series. However the series doesn't work out that well and her ex-band gets more and more success. In the middle of this she finds out about a stalker who updates about everything she does on a special site called Mia's room. Then she starts having hallucinations.
After this the story takes a few very nice plot turns, but I won't spoil them
...
for you.
The story is very strong. It leaves a big impact on you. It's not what you expect from your average anime, but that's for the better. The hallucinations work really well in this movie, however it also causes some minor flaws in the story. There are 2 main complaints I have about the story. First off, the hallucinations get really weird. With the hallucinations going on, and the shootings of the scene's it sometimes becomes kind off hard to follow, and really hard to understand what is real and what is just in her mind. However one might argue that this is for the better. On one hand it does surely increase the impact and strength of the story, and the neat thing about it is that it doesn't really destroy any reality of the story which is a nice achievement. However I think they went a bit over the top with it. Secondly, I feel that the character development on Mina herself is not enough. The build-up to the climax is really neat, however the conflict starts off to early. To summarise it, we never really get to know the "normal" Mina. Overall however, I would not say that this destroys the story. Once you're sucked into the story (for me around the 20 minute mark) the build-up doesn't form a problem any more, and as long as you pay close attention, you'll understand what's going on (at least you'll understand what you're supposed to understand).
Also I wished the story would have stopped 10 minutes earlier. I don't want to spoil anything, but to be fair the story doesn't end open enough for me.
Visuals.
the visuals are stunning. for today's standards they would already be al right, and for back then, the visuals where just awesome. The more action-full and gory scene's are drawn beautifully.
Voice Acting (DUB!)
The voice acting of this dub is great. The real
Mima (Ruby Marlowe) doesn't have an emotionless voice (as some voice actors are nowadays struggling with) in the hallucinations, she sounds extremely happy which adds to the scariness. Also, most of the side characters have good voices, no voice actor stands out, and neither does anyone really sound bad.
Music.
The music is alright, there is not to much of it and generally it does not add to much to the story. I did not really like the music Mima's band played, however that's really a matter of opinion. However the music does have a few very, very neat moments, especially in the scary parts where you hear these sound which really build up a lot of tension.
Re-watch Value.
The re-watch value of this story is decent but not great. A lot of the story rests on it's hallucination and mystery. In a normal story this would destroy the replay value. however because this story is pretty strong, you surely want to watch it again after a few months.
Verdict.
This movie is a must see to every anime fan. The story might (at least with me it did) leave an impression which will not go away very soon.
Furthermore, this movie is one you want to show to open minded friends who do not like anime (because they have a stereotypical view of it). This film is especially a recommendation to all the people who liked ''A beautiful mind'' and ''Psycho''.

Story Summary:
The story in death note revolves around Light Yagami, and outsanding student (smartest of Japan) who is pretty bored by school. A Shinigami (God of Death) named Ryuk drops his Death Note in to the earth world. The Death Note is a notebook in which you can write names to kill people in whichever way you like. Light finds the book and tries to use it to kill every criminal in the world to make the world a better place. Soon, the best detective in the world mysteriously named L finds out about the killings, and sets up a task force to catch the
...
killer. After that it becomes a battle of L finding Light and the other way around, containing all kinds of plot twists, and never stops entertaining.
Story.
Although the story revolves around a few set main characters, the side-characters switch constantely through the story. Although the plot-twists sometimes go a bit to far in my opinion, that's about the only negative thing I can say about the story. The suspense is amazing, as the plot-twists keep you on your toes as nothing is impossible. The battle between L and Light is a battle of two extremely smart people, and therefore lots of really smart plans are plotted which adds to the suspense even more. This makes the anime very exciting, from beginning to end. Also I must say that it's outstanding that the story is evenly good all the way, it has no ups and downs.
Visuals.
The visuals are one of the best, if not the best I've ever seen in a series. Dead-on quality animation combined with extreme eye for detail. It clearly shows the expression of every person, which gives you a clear idea of what they are feeling and thinking. A great example of this is Light when he is handling the notebook; he looks really angelic when he talks to others, but when he's on his own he looks like the devil.
Voice Acting
Original: The voice-acting in the original are done beautifully. Light and L express the emotions very well. Again Light has the possibility to sound very angelic, but when he's alone he speaks of his "new world" with a lot of evil sounding passion. The other side characters are not all as well done as the main characters, but no one is annoying or bad. In general the voice acting differs between some of the best I've ever heard and just very good.
Dub: The Engish dub is not as good as the original, but that does not make it bad by any means. Light takes a bit of time to get used to, but when you are he's still pretty good. L is dead-on, and so are some of the side characters. In the end I recommend the Sub over the Dub, but if you want to watch subs (because you watch at night, or you have problems with reading or anything like that) I wouldn't say you shouldn't watch it at all, just get the dub.
Sound.
The Sound in Death Note is the best sound I've heard in anime. The sound always adds to the suspense. Also it's never annoying or in the way of the story or visuals, it just perfectly fits in.
Re-Watch Value.
The re-watch value of death note is there to some extend, however it is one of the weakest points of death note (not that that says anything). You surely want to see the series another time, however not more than once or twice. The reason to rewatch it is because you can only see the real beauty of the story after the second time, also you'd want to rewatch it because of the ingenious plans the main characters make. However the problem with the story is that the plot twists and therefore the tension is gone after the first time.
Recommendation.
I recommend everyone to watch Death Note. Even if you are not an anime fan, you're probably still going to like it. If you haven't seen it (which is unlikely if your on this site) go watch it. NOW!

Movie: Midori days (美鳥の日々, Midori no Hibi)
Genre: Anime – Comedy/Drama
Release Year: 2004
Studio: Pierrot
Director: Tsuneo Kobayashi (小林常夫, Kobayashi Tsuneo )
Original Network: Animax (run all through Asia)
License: Madman Entertainment
AnimeWorks
...
Story: (no spoilers included)
The story of Midori days is about Seiji Sawamura (voiced by Drew Aaron), a 17 year old delinquent student. He doesn't get very good grades, as he is more focused on fighting than he is on studying. He's one of the most feared ''bullies'' also referred to as ''the mad dog'' with the ''devil right hand''. I put bully in quotations as (cliche alert!) Seiji of course has a big heart and mostly fights to protect the weaker. Some students idolize him for it, but the majority of the people are just afraid of him.
Which brings us to the main part of the story. The problem with Seiji is, that he isn't able to get a girlfriend as most of the girls are just scared of him. At the age of 17 he hasn't ever kissed a girl, or had a girlfriend.
Seiji therefore gets all his love from his right-hand. That becomes even more clear when one day he wakes up and his silent lover Midori Kasugano (voiced by Kether Donahue) becomes his right hand. Yes, she literally becomes his right hand. Let me repeat that one more time, she literally becomes a dude's right..... Well I guess you get that the story gets kind off weird sometimes. Midori had a crush on Seiji for a long time. As we get to know Seiji and his life better and better, we get why doesn't have a girlfriend. He's totally blind to female attention, and tends to think very down to earth. Will he and Midori get a relationship? Will she ever become normal again? Will the story put some cliche morals in? Watch to find out!
Midori days certainly has a high WTF-Japan rate. Not that that is necesseraly bad, but it doesn't work out in the favor of the Anime The Anime starts out as a nice little comedy, which just a very weird basic idea (which because it is a comedy, kinda works in it favor). However halfway down the road, the Anime suddenly gets really deep and sentimental, and it doesn't work out well. Don't get me wrong, I like Anime with a deep story and character development, however the story stays really shallow, but you suddenly dive in the past of a few characters and a lot of morals are stuffed in the story, while you're still left in the mood of the comedy. It just doesn't work out that well. It really is one of those ''ahh I see what you did there, but NO.'' moments. Too bad because if these two basic ideas where made into two anime's, it probably would've worked. Also, although I haven't described every character, there are way to less characters, and a lot of them are introduced and suddenly left out again. It's so sad as there are some really really good scenes.
Visuals.
The visuals are alright. Fighting scene's are not special, comedy scenes aren't special, coming to think of it, nothing really stands out. However, nothing is particularly bad either, it's all just average (well maybe a bit above average but not more than that.)
Voice acting (DUB).
On average the voices are alright, some are very good (e.g. Shuichi Takamizawa a friend of Seiji you'll get to know later on, and Seiji himself is also very good.) some are average (his sister, a few classmates from him), and most importantly, Midori's voice is just annoying. Once you realize how high it is and how forced it sounds you won't get over it which destroys the feel of the Anime a lot.
Sound.
The sound and music is good, great at times. The music at the sentimental points and flashbacks as a matter of fact, is so good that it kinda helps you to get sucked into the story anyways.
Re-watch value.
You might want to watch this a few times, but I don't think it will get you out more satisfied than before, so it's not like it's a must.
