Story: 8
Season 2 of Nurarihyon no Mago leads a very similar story to that of season 1 in the sense that Nura Rikou is still battling between his human blood and his demon blood except in season 2 he is more aware and more accepting of his demon blood than he was in season 1. Season 2 of Nurarihyon no Mago can also be described as a ‘Demon War Arc’ as that is what it essentially is a war between two factions of demons. Tono Yokai vs Kyoto Yokai.
In season 2 they also address the specific powers and abilities used by demons, that
...
being ‘Fear’, and the many different ways this ability can be used.
Ending: 8.5
The final episode of Nurarihyon no Mago really does go out with a bang, leaving us satisfied yet also wanting more. With many plot twist that arise in the final episodes of Nurarihyon no Mago its gets quite hard to keep up and fortunately it does all make sense. It is somewhat hard to review this ending without spoiling it so all I can really say is that ‘you get what you pay for’ i.e the ending we want and deserve.
Solid Plot: 8
Even with the numerous plot twists towards the end of season 2 the plot still does stay consistent and flows smoothly. There a very few instances where you find scenes not relating to the plot and luckily there were not entire episodes that also strayed from the main plot.
Moral: 8.5
The moral of season 2 is the same as that of season 1 except just elaborated a little more in detail.
“The moral can really be seen as analogy more than anything; with Nura Rikuo constantly preaching for equality between demons and humans and that he will treat both their crimes and achievements equally. This can be compared to both Equality throughout the human race, addressing factors such as racism, and equality throughout genders, i.e male and female. Even though humans and demons differ, Nura Rikuo still wishes to treat them both with an equal amount of respect and fairness; which can be compared to the fact that even though there are a lot of differences amongst humanity we should still treat each other with the same amount of respect and fairness.”
Sense: 8
Thankfully in season 2 they get rid of the ‘let your enemy go’ mentality the characters had in season 1. In season 2 enemies are hunted down and destroyed. Apart from that most of everything made sense in season 2 except for the one thing that was in season 1 that remained in season 2, that being when allies or enemies or cut or wounded, the wound does not match with the cut i.e if someone’s arm is cut clean off, it does not show their arm being cut clean off, it only shows a very deep wound, this happens more in the case of allies than enemies but it is still quite annoying.
Music: 8
The music in season 2 I found to way outshine that of season 1. The music had more a presence and I found it to be more ‘epic’. The music also helped to emphasize the mood of a scene a lot more than that of season 1’s music.
Art: 8.5
Again the same as in season 1 the art style remained the same with not a lot of noticeable changes. The only real noticeable change is that from Tono to Kyoto, the scenery in Kyoto being a lot darker than that in Tono.
With that said though I did really like the art and art style of Nurarihyon no Mago, both the way the scenery and characters where drawn where amazing. I could not find any noticeable similarities between characters which is a great upside to any Anime.
Characters: 8.5
The characters where absolutely great seeing now they did have more of a presence as each of Nura Rikuo’s main guards were given their own backstory. This helps the audience to relate with the characters and give the characters themselves a greater atmosphere around them, making the character actual characters and not just walking and talking mannequins.
Boredom/Captivation Scale: 8
With there being a lot more highpoints in season 2 of Nurarihyon no Mago than there where in season 1 than off course I would enjoy it a lot more than I did season 1, the action scenes actually lasted longer than 30 seconds and sometimes even extended to episodes. Retaining the same style of action featuring all different types of abilities and techniques season 2 was all the more enjoyable. All in all I can honestly say that there were very little low points with season 2 and found myself liking it a lot.
Personal Score: 8.5
Not the final question, that being would I recommend this anime….Hell Yes! If you’re a fan of plot twists, action, abilities and all other manner of supernatural things than this anime is right up your alley.
Genres
Action: 8.5
The action scenes actually lasted longer than 30 seconds and sometimes even extended to episodes. Retaining the same style of action featuring all different types of abilities and techniques season 2 was all the more enjoyable.
Abilities/Powers/Techniques: 8.5
Nurarihyon no Mago is jam packed with all 3 abilities, powers and techniques. With things like martial arts to water bending and super strength Nurarihyon no Mago fills these criteria well.
Super Moves: 7.5
There were not many super moves in Nurarihyon no Mago but when there was they were on a grand scale making them worthwhile.
Supernatural: 7.5
Even though they don’t technically address the factor of there being a heaven if there is a hell there is a demon that is a messenger from god and acts as if he is a divine demon. So overall the supernatural element of season 2 is good.
Demons: 9
The demon factor for Nurarihyon no Mago was done incredibly well as most demons tend not to look alike and there is an incredibly large array of demons.

Criteria
Story: 7.5
A boy named Nura Rikuo finds himself as the grandson of the Supreme Commander of all demons, as the grandson he only inherited ¼ of his grandfather’s demon blood, and with his father murdered the next head of the Nura Family, the next Supreme Commander of all demons is Rikuo himself. However caught between his demon blood and his human blood he faces the struggle of what he truly is and in season 1 of Nurarihyon no Mago we see Nura Rikuo battle this struggle and all other obstacles he may face.
Season 1 of Nurarihyon no Mago did have a lot of
...
potential up until episode 12-13 where it starts to clearly go downhill.
Ending: 8
The ending of Nurarihyon no Mago is really split into two parts, the first being action packed with some more character development from Nura Rikuo and the second being nice, happy and ‘smooth’. The ending for Nurarihyon no Mago overall was quite enjoyable even more so that we know we are getting a season 2; which gives us something to look forward too.
Solid Plot: 7
With 24 episodes to the first season they did do well to maintain a plot that could be said as being somewhat solid. Whilst watching season 1 I did tend to find a lot that there were times where some scenes seemed unnecessary and even going to the point where even a few episodes seemed as if they were just thrown in there. However with that said 75% of season 1 was enjoyable and maintained a good enough plot to be able to follow without becoming too confusing.
Moral: 8.5
The moral can really be seen as analogy more than anything; with Nura Rikuo constantly preaching for equality between demons and humans and that he will treat both their crimes and achievements equally. This can be compared to both Equality throughout the human race, addressing factors such as racism, and equality throughout genders, i.e male and female. Even though humans and demons differ, Nura Rikuo still wishes to treat them both with an equal amount of respect and fairness; which can be compared to the fact that even though there are a lot of differences amongst humanity we should still treat each other with the same amount of respect and fairness.
Sense: 6
Really the one main thing that pissed me off the most when it came to this anime making sense was the simple fact that they always, and I mean always, let their opponents/enemies get away. Just because your enemy turned a corner doesn’t mean you stop pursuing them, some of the instances where they let this happen really just leave me baffled as to what exactly they were thinking.
Another reason why it got a 6 is because wounds are also completely unrealistic to the point where it seems as if some of the characters really have incredibly iron like skin or just insane regenerative powers, ‘like that sword clearly took your arm off so why is it still attached to your body?’
Music: 6.5
Unfortunately another low point for Nurarihyon no Mago, as I has hoped the music would actually be better. The music doesn’t really have any presence in Nurarihyon no Mago so it’s quite hard to judge, yet the times when I did notice their being background music I did find it enjoyable and somewhat enhanced the mood of the scene.
In essence though what I mean when I say presence is that it doesn’t have that type of background music that will keep you remembering it and humming it after you’ve finished the anime.
Art: 8.5
I must say that I did really like the art and art style of Nurarihyon no Mago, both the way the scenery and characters where drawn where amazing. I could not find any noticeable similarities between characters which is a great upside to any Anime, even more so in the case of Nurarihyon no Mago.
Characters: 7
The only real downside for the character aspect of Nurarihyon no Mago is that there is very little to no character background story to the actual characters, this makes it very hard for the audience to relate to the characters and takes away a sense of presence from the characters as well. Another downside is that there doesn’t seem to be any character development to any other character apart from Nura Rikuo, with that said though there still is a little bit of character development to the other characters just not as much as Nura Rikuo.
All in all the character art was done superbly though they could’ve added some background story to them.
Boredom/Captivation Scale: 7.5
Even though there were some done points to Nurarihyon no Mago there were also a lot of good points which do in the end balance it out a bit, due to this I did end up finding Nurarihyon no Mago an enjoyable watch though not the greatest watch.
If they fixed up on a few things with character and plot then it would have been a much, much better watch and Anime.
Personal Score: 7
So the main question being would I recommend this anime, does the high points of Nurarihyon no Mago make up for all it low points, well no it doesn’t. However with that said at the ending of season 1, does show a lot of promise to what could happen in season 2, for starters the fact that eventually Nura Rikuo will become the 3rd Supreme Commander of all demons and he will use his influence to grow his ‘night horde’/allies and increase the reputation of the Nura Family which was stated to be at an all-time low. All these things and more I can see happening within season 2 and will quite frankly be disappointed if they don’t happen.
So then yes, for anyone who can see potential in the season 2 of this anime if done correctly, I do recommend this Anime.
Also with all the above said I have heard that season 2 does in fact blow season 1 out of the water.
Genres
Action: 7
Even though the actions scenes where quite few and mostly short when they came, they were also packed with ability users usually using their ability to its utmost potential. The action scenes were short but epic.
Abilities/Powers/Techniques: 8
Nurarihyon no Mago is jam packed with all 3 abilities, powers and techniques. With things like martial arts to water bending and super strength Nurarihyon no Mago fills these criteria well.
Supernatural: 6.5
One of the main downsides I found to the supernatural factor of this Anime even though it was packed with demons, is that is does not address the other side of the coin which is angels and heaven. The whole Anime makes it seem that the only beings that can be considered as supernatural elements are demons, however understandable as it is an Anime heavily focused on demons, though it would have been nice to at least hear of angels or heaven.
Demons: 9
The demon factor for Nurarihyon no Mago was done incredibly well as most demons tend not to look alike and there is an incredibly large array of demons.

I must admit, before I start this review, that going into this Anime I had two things in mind: Firstly that it would be a cheap rip off of S.A.O and Secondly that my expectations for this Anime where very low, quite low that I was very hesitant to start it, and only did so because MAL had it rated quite high.
After saying that though, it is not a cheap rip off of S.A.O however I can’t say that my expectations were not met, now without any more waiting on to the review.
Criteria
Story: 7
If anything Season 1 of Log Horizon is more
...
or less a prequel to what will be season 2 of Log Horizon, this I mainly due to the fact that the story really doesn’t start until episode 5 and even then it doesn’t get any real substance until episode 10 or so; however in short the story of Log Horizon, in short, is about a phenomenon that occurred one day which ‘transported’ hundreds of thousands of people inside and MMOPG known as Elder Tale Online. Of all the people that got sucked inside the game, the anime focuses on a guild or more specifically the guild master Shiroe, and his efforts to turn the world of Elder tale into a more livable and prosperous place. Along the way he faces many encounters and many struggles which he and his guild overcome.
Also as one final note is that the problem of leaving the world of Elder Tale and going home is really only brought up towards the end of the anime, there is also no real side story that tells us about what is going home back in the real world.
Ending: 8
The only real reason I gave the ending an 8 was due to two facts: The first being the plot twist and the unveiling of a new enemy and the second being we a given a definite answer to whether or not the will be a season 2, that answer being yes and that season 2 will air in October 2014. With these two factors I might have just given the ending a 3 or a 4 but these factors were its ‘saving grace’.
Solid Plot: 7.5
Even though the real story doesn’t start till around episode 5-10 the plot is still good and relatively consistent, with the exception of needless filler episodes here and there, also you tend to find that some arcs that go for 5-6 episodes could really have been done with 2-3. Though seeing as Log Horizon is split up into 4-6 episode arcs the plot is east to follow and consistent enough that a side story can flow through the back of these arcs.
Moral: 8
The moral of Log Horizon is better than most Anime’s out there, with that being said the moral of Log Horizon, even though it is somewhat clear and not hidden, is that sometimes we should just act good/do good deeds even if we don’t get praised for them, even if other people take us for the ‘villain’ and others as the ‘heroes’. This is emphasized with the use of Shiroe and Crusty: Shiroe being the one who implements the good deed yet is looked at as a villain and Crusty doesn’t do a lot except look good and take credit i.e the hero. ‘Do good for the good of the world, not for the good of oneself’. The moral doesn’t kind of remind me of the ending quote of the Dark Knight.
Sense: 9
I have yet to mention it but the even though this Anime is based around a MMORPG they made it as if its entire audience where ‘noobs’ (by that I mean all inexperienced game players) so much so that they explain everything and I mean everything when it games to game jargon, for this reason the Anime makes too much sense and I gave it a 9, I would have gave it a 10 but the explanations get annoying. For example they explain every single skill used including its cool down time and the skill effect time etc. They also go on to explain what a ‘tank’ is or what a healer is, if it wasn’t already obvious enough from the name alone.
Music: 8
With most of the low points of Log Horizon I'm glad to say that at least the music (OST, BGM etc.) were quite well done; to the point where the music helped to emphasize and enhance the mood of the scene. So if the scene was adventurous then some sort of slow and upbeat music would play creating an atmosphere fitting of that adventure.
Art: 8.5
Another high point for Log Horizon; the scenery was drawn beautifully and so where the characters; there were no problems of trying to distinguish one character from another and each character had the own uniqueness fitting of an MMOPG i.e races. Overall the art was done really well.
Characters: 7
The only thing I didn’t like about the characters, that also being quite a major point in any anime like this, is how little the topic of wanting to return home was brought up. We see at the start how all the players are in panic and confused about what is happening but the addressing the issue of wanting to actually go back to real world was never properly addressed.
Also another negative point is that there isn’t a lot of character background which doesn’t give the characters a lot of substance. However character development and progression is its redeeming factor as characters don’t just stay the same as they were form episode one up to episode 24 they actually do change and mature. One example of this is Shiroe getting over his fear of guilds and deciding to make decisions to change the world they currently live in, instead of sitting on the sidelines doing nothing.
Boredom/Captivation Scale: 7.5
Even though this was an action based genre anime, I found there to be too little fighting and too much travelling and talking; the travelling and talking would take up a near 4 episodes where the fighting would only last for half an episode. However apart from that there was also enough drama and comedic scenes to keep me entertained whilst watching the anime so it wasn’t entirely a bore.
Personal Score: 7
Cutting to the chase, would I recommend this Anime? Looking at this Anime as a prequel to season 2 (because the story really only picks up at episode 10-15 then 20-25) then yes I would recommend this anime, however is season 2 is going to be as much of a drag as season 1 then no I wouldn’t. This is simple due to the main fact that’s its basically an Anime MMORPG for ‘noobs’ (inexperienced game players) and that gets quite annoying especially if you’ve had your fair share of gamming.
Though in short this anime has enough action to be ok, enough comedy to be funny and enough drama to hold some suspense so then in general yes I would recommend it.

With numerous classes with different abilities there is a variety of powers and abilities for show in Log Horizon.
Adventure: 8.5
Really the main genre of this anime, probably due to them wanting to show off their art style, this anime really is quite adventurous.
Game: 8
Even though it is quite ‘nooby’ they still do a good job at emphasizing the main aspects of an MMORPG game; that being character classes, abilities, guilds, currency and quests

Kingdom could really be described as one of those Anime’s that nearly reached perfection but lacked an element or two un-allowing it to do so. I absolutely loved everything about Kingdom; however you do have to make it past the first 12 episodes or so to get to the real action. Note: I don’t know anything about China’s history so I won’t be talking about the history element of this Anime in the review.
Criteria
Story: 8.5
The story of Kingdom Season 2 continues off from season in the sense that both Xin’s and Zheng’s dreams are the same, except this time Xin’s dreams stray somewhat onto
...
the path of Zheng’s. Zheng’s dream as we all know form those who watched season 1 wants to unite all of China something that has never been done before, and Xin’s dreams is to become The Greatest General Under the Heavens. However in season 2 there is a lot more politics of war with both ‘wars’ going on inside the castle and on the battlefield. Be prepared for a lot of drama in this season as well because 90% of the time I was on the edge of my seat.
Ending: 7
The ending for season 2 however although good didn’t quite do it for me, as events don’t wrap up as soon as the great war is over, they seem to just drag on for another 4-5 episodes all which could have been wrapped up in 2 max 3. Although the ending was somewhat happy and suspenseful and it also leaves me hoping for a season 3.
Solid Plot: 8.5
The plot for season 2 was somewhat easier to maintain than season 1 due to the fact that season 2 only contained 1 war and politics whereas season 2 contained a near 3 wars with politics. Therefor the plot was fluid easily understandable and rarely strayed off path.
Moral: 10
Basically elaborates the already set moral of season 1 further by simply stating how we don’t bring up the sacrifices our comrades made we simply honor them and remember them and we do not cry over them. Also goes further to state that no matter the position of a person on the battlefield the all carry the same weight on the shoulders and it is this weight that makes them strong.
“[We carry the dreams and feeling of our fallen nakama on our shoulders which makes us strong]” A simple yet also touching moral to this story filled with sacrifice and death. Our nakama did not die for any reason, they sacrificed themselves so that we may carry out their wishes, their dreams, their feeling, just because they are dead does not mean we should forget these things, these things that they stood for, because when we truly forget these things is when they truly are dead.
Sense: 7
Even though in season 1 it didn’t really bother me, the lack of blood in the anime when someone is cut really did start to annoy me in season 2, due to the simple fact that people would just die after being cut yet have no wounds or signs of a cut. However overall when it comes down to politics, war tactics and everything else in general, it does make sense.
Music: 8
The BGM in season 2, to me, was a lot more noticeable than that of season 1; I found that the was a lot more emphasis on the BGM and it played at perfect times, die to this sad scenes would seem sadder and exciting scenes would get the audience more excited.
Art: 8
The same general art style of that from season 1 except some obvious changes to character design due to their being a time skip. That same sense of realism with the art is also kept so we don’t have to adapt our eyes to a new art style. The only thing that really annoyed where some characters eyes, not how they were drawn more how they acted; for example there are some characters who have their eyes closed 90% of time and some who have them open 90% of the time, by this I mean the rarely ever open or close their eyes…in essence there wasn’t enough blinking…
Characters: 9
The same characters you know and love from season 1 are obviously in season 2 except stronger, taller and ready for all the new challenges. The one major thing I like about Kingdoms characters in terms of character developments and progression is that both of those factors increase with the characters title and with other characters respect to the said character; for example in season 1 Xing’s character development and progression are noticed by his rank going from a simple servant to a 300-man general which is incredibly impressive. Other developments include the strong relationships he build and how much these characters respect and value Xin, which is demonstrated through how they are always there to pick him up after a big fight, or even put themselves in the line of fire for him to survive, this shows the audience how much faith, trust and respect all these characters have for Xin…Xin who was once a mere servant.
Boredom/Captivation Scale: 8.5
With the added drama element to season 2 I found myself enjoying season 2 a lot more than I had season 1 and found more self quite literally at times on the edge of my seat. “Is he gonna die?” “Is she gonna die?” Is hi gonna kill him?” “Is he gonna let him live?” All these questions and a lot more you find yourself asking yourself whilst watching season 2 of Kingdom.
Personal Score: 8.5
I really would have liked to give this season a perfect 10 and I probably would have it had as much gore as it did in the manga, and I’m talking about peoples head getting chopped off, peoples guts flying out their stomachs and head literally getting crushed to oblivion; after all this was rated as an R18+ anime yet it didn’t have as much R18+ as I’d hoped it would have (In the manga they literally take R18+ to the next level)
Genres
Action: 9
Enough action packed fighting scenes in Kingdom to be shared among 4-5 different Anime shows, so yer I’d say kingdom is pretty action packed. However one down side is that some fight scenes are repetitive with the cannon fodder battling cannon fodder but the strategic point of those scenes makes up for it.
Drama/Suspense: 9
When there not fighting, or plotting to take the throne, or unite China then it’s filled with drama and enough drama to pull at your hair. Also the suspenseful scenes that entwine with the drama support the series nicely
Military: 10
Everything from politics of war to the combat of war is done very well in Kingdom, so well infarct that I think I’ve learned a thing or two about war and how it’s actually done both on the lines and behind the lines
P.S sorry for any grammatical errors…this was not proof read….

I seriously don’t know where to start with the review of this Anime because I just loved it so much. And because I loved it so much I’ll have to be as unbiased as possible in my rating….I don’t think that turned out so well…
If you loved TTGL you will absolutely LOVE this. Expect the same madness, craziness and absolute EPICNESS as you would from TTGL in Kill la Kill. Expect unlimited transformations, bad ass finishers and repetitive but incredibly awesome super moves and powers!! So onward with the review!!
Criteria
Story: 8.5
Just like TTGL this story is incredibly original yet still has the main
...
themes of most other Anime that include world domination, infinite plot twists and love and unity. All of these themes combined into one awesome Anime, that being Kill La Kill. Kill La Kill is lightning fast and action packed from the get go, we basically get awesome fight scenes within the first 5 minutes, also did I mention its lightning fast because its lightning fast!
The story is really about a girl named Ryuuko Matoi who comes home to find her father murdered with a Scissor Blade stuck within him [‘Find the other half of the blade and you find the murderer, but your life will be turned upside down’] are her father’s last words.
The Scissor Blade eventually takes her to Honnouji Academy where she meets Satsuki Kiryuuin (The Student Council President) who reigns over Honnouji Academy as if she were god. Ryuuko believes that Satsuki knows the secrets behind the Scissor Blade and will do anything to make her cough them up!
What starts of as a story for revenge ends up becoming a story to save all of earth (see the TTGL comparison). As she dives deeper into this new world she learns about things called Goku Uniforms, life fibers and Sailor Suits also known as Kamui’s, what do these things all mean, what are they used for and how will she overcome all these insane powerhouses that stand before her? The only way you will ever find out is if you watch Kill La Kill!!!
However it really is impossible to describe the story like this because there is just so much going on!
Ending: 8.5
A sad, joyful, conclusive and definitive yet somewhat open ending, what more could anyone ask for. I had about 30 emotions going on while watching the last episode of Kill La Kill, but the main one was ‘I WANT MORE’. Basically of all the Anime series that didn’t deserve a second’s series, this one bloody hell better get a second series!! It’s really impossible to describe the ending without spoilers, but I’ll leave it at this if you watched TTGL, expect MASSIVE fights, MASSIVE transformations and somewhat tears of sadness, joy and frustration!
Solid Plot: 9
Probably what I believe to be one of the most solid plots in an Anime, ever single action taken or word spoken has some minor detail that all leads up to the greater scheme of things. The plot twist of some you will see coming (depending on how good at mysteries you are), there are also a thousand and one you will NEVER see coming. It’s absolutely brilliant how they able to tie everything together, and then for it to actually all make sense is just something else completely. The only downside was the filler episode in the 4th episode however it served its comedic purpose as it was very funny.
Moral: 8.5
There are so many morals and message to take out of Kill La Kill that it becomes hard to keep up with them all, yet the most amazing thing is that they are able to explain each one to its fullest. The main two contradicting morals yet also complimentary are “pigs in human clothing” and “we are not all cut from the same cloth” basically what it really mean is even though we are all the same we are also all different, and that’s what makes this world so beautiful and amazing the fact that two contradicting matters can be so complimentary to each other. “Pigs in human clothing” is basically the Anime’s way of saying we are all human i.e we are all the same and “we are not cut from the same cloth” is also the Anime’s way of saying we are all unique in our own way. So basically in other words even though we may all be different we should treat each other the same because we are all human.
Kill la Kill also discusses the boundary between friends and family and how one can essentially also be the other, and also how ‘friend’ and ‘family’ are just words unless they are acted upon, a dark and cruel yet also true realization.
Sense: 8
With so much going on in Kill La Kill I was fascinated by how much sense it made and how they were actually able to make it make so much sense. I don’t think that they actually left any question unanswered, which is a first for me watching an anime.
However there were times during Kill La Kill were events just seemed to convenient which is why I gave it an 8 instead of a perfect 10. There are also some other events and mechanics that don’t make sense unless I spoil them so I’m not going to do so, you’ll just have to watch the Anime to figure out what I mean.
Music: 9
Oh My God! Is really all I have to say about the music for Kill La Kill. If the BGM is still playing in the back of your head even after you’ve finished the anime, then you know they’ve done a good job. And I could never get enough of Kill La Kills Background Music; it was just so epicly epic. The music complimented the scenes extremely well and possible elevated the set mood tenfold.
Art: 8
An incredible job with art as expected from the makers of TTGL (of which the art I also loved). Everything from the explosions, to fire, to water, to scenery was done amazingly well. The only necessary flaw I found in the art was how all the cannon fodder, all the extras etc. where drawn exactly the same, however I also found that to be useful in expressing the ideology of “pigs in human clothing”.
Characters: 8.5
The characters were absolutely genius, everything from their designs to their names I found amazing. Who would ever forget a name such as Gamagoori or Sanketsu or Junketsu their names where purely unique and amazing. Also all of the main characters where given each their own back story, which allows us to understand why some characters are so loyal to each other. There is also an incredible amount of character progression and development physically, mentally, emotionally and psychologically.
Boredom/Captivation Scale: 10
There was NEVER EVER a dull moment with Kill La Kill, it was always either one of the following, extremely funny, extremely jam packed with action, extremely mysterious and at some points extremely annoying (but in the good annoying way). Filled with manipulation, backstabbing, forgiveness, trust, fighting, laughing there was never a dull moment in Kill La Kill
Personal Score: 9
To be honest…I would’ve given Kill La Kill a perfect 10 if it wasn’t for my stubborn belief that only one Anime deserves a perfect 10 and I am yet to find that Anime, however if this anime gets a Season 2 I’ll give this Anime a perfect 10 in a heartbeat because that is really all it is missing, a second season. Would I recommend this Anime? Does that question even need to be answered yet alone asked? Uh Duh I recommend this Anime and if you haven’t watched it yet, what the hell are you doing with your time?
However I do find that this Anime would be more towards lovers of TTGL so if you didn’t like that, you may not like this.
The only real major down side to this Anime is its way over repetitiveness with Super Moves (not super powers of which there are way too many), the finishing super mover, similar to the Kamehameha, is way overused. (Note the finishing move is only similar to the Kamehameha in the way it’s overused, the attack itself does not resemble the Kamehameha in any way what so ever).
Genres
Comedy: 8.5
The real main comedic purpose of this anime is to break it away from all the action, because there is just way too much action, with said the comedic parts, I found, are extremely funny.
Action: 9
Action, Action, Action more Action with a side serving of Action…did I mention there was a lot of action?
If you love action based Anime then you will love Kill la Kill!
Mystery: 8
Also a great watch for those mystery lovers, however depending on how good you are at seeing foreshadowing then the mystery may be clear as day, however I guarantee that you will never see this ending coming!
Super Powers: 9
Similar to the liked of TTGL there are about 20 different if not more character transformation that take place in Kill La Kill which is just an overdose of Super Powers. So if you’re like me and just love to see super power, after super power, after super power, than you will love Kill La Kill!
Super Moves: 7
A stated earlier even though the super moves are awesome they are also way too overused, basically every enemy she defeats is defeated with the exact same super finishing move. Regardless I never tire of seeing it, except for when it was used literally 10 times in a row.
I could probably talk about Kill La Kill forever but let’s just end it with this:
I hope this review was as accurate, unbiased and spoilerless as possible, thank you for reading the review :D
Oh lastly….there is quite a good Ecchi element to Kill La Kill…so if you are into that kind of thing…you may be into Kill La Kill

Story: 7
The story does not leave from where Season 1 left off however it does eventually get to that point, Black Butler S2 thrown us in with a brand new ‘Highness’ and Butler; their names being Alois and Claud. After the first few minutes however we finally get to see Sebastian and then eventually Ciel, which leaves us with a thousand and one question….’what the hell happened at the end of Season 1??’
However these questions and more are eventually answered.
Ending: 8
I found the ending of S2 to be a lot better than that of S1, were S1 leaves us asking ‘WHAT THE HELL
...
JUST HAPPENED!!’ S2 is a solid and conclusive ending yet also has possibilities of opening it up for a Season 3. If they did make a season 3 I reckon it would me majorly epic due to the final events of S2.
Solid Plot: 8
With 12 episodes only it would be hard if the plot wasn’t solid. Black butler S2 basically follows the 2 ‘Masters’ on the brand new quests for revenge, but Ciel already got his revenge…….or did he? The plot does not waver too much and stays on course for most of the 12 episodes; except for when the mission for the queen except even they are related in some way.. Also in season 2 the plot is a lot more solid as he doesn’t take up that many missions any more from his majesty the Queen.
And lastly there are also the plot twists that I don’t think anyone including myself ever saw coming, so that was a good new addition to the plot of Black butler S2.
Moral: 0
I honestly do find the moral of any anime should be one of its high points; one of the main criteria’s to be essentially ranked any judged after finishing an anime or on the completion of reading a manga. We see how important it was to the Second Season of Black Butler as Black Butler S2 did not have one, they focused too much on action scenes, fighting scenes and comedic scenes that I failed to see any real moral to this story. There were no themes such as forgiveness as the whole anime was basically about deception. Due to this and the fact it clearly did not want to teach its audience anything, it did not want to leave the audience with a scene of ‘enlightenment’ it scores a perfect 0.
Sense: 5
Oh where do I begin with the sense of this anime, even though our questions are answered and the answers do make sense, the answers also sometimes bring arise to new and more questions which then don’t make any sense. It also stays too much to its clichéd butler choice of weaponry being a knife and fork. And then there’s the fact that getting skewered in the head won’t kill you…..but hey you’re a demon so whatever.
And then there are the first 5 episodes which are just in some scenes make absolutely no sense at all, for example one scene where Claud throws a table into the air and is able to set the table with dress cloths plates knifes, spoons and forks etc. whilst the table is still into the air and then when the table hits the floor everything is glistening clean and the table is set……yer I call BS.
Music: 8
Not a lot changed with the music from Black Butler S1 to S2 except for the opening and endings and I actually liked the opening and ending of S2 better than that of S1. The music was very complimentary to the mood of the scene, the pitch and tone would rise and fall depending on the pace of the scene which was very nice to see.
Art: 8
Also the same as S1 of Black Butler, that being I really liked it. The characters where drawn exceptionally well and so were all the different types of scenery. Also things like water and fire where drawn really well.
Characters: 6
For some reason the characters of Season 2 felt duller than that of Season 1, like they were missing their backbone, they just didn’t have that essence that a character needed. Everyone just felt too comedic like everything was a joke; even Ceal has a sense of comedy to him. But the thing I hated most was how much Sebastian and Claud looked alike. In some scenes I didn’t know if it was Sebastian or Claud until somebody addressed them. Also we didn’t get that much of a back story on each of the new characters from season 2 like we did in season 1. There was also no ‘Old’ Tanaka and ‘New’ Tanaka had a screen time of like 30 seconds. (Tanaka was basically my favorite of the servants)
And then the uncharacteristically behavior of a demon who fell in a love with a child she knew for like 20 seconds because he said thank you to the demon before she consumed his soul.
Boredom/Captivation Scale: 7
Due to the fact that the anime was jam packed with both comedic and action scenes I rarely felt bored and for the most part I quite enjoyed watching it.
Personal Score: 5
The biggest let down of Black Butler Season 2 in my own opinion were the characters, even though there was no moral and that got a 0 the characters just didn’t do it for me. Not only where the uncharacteristic there was also the problem of two butlers looking exactly the same. Then the was the obvious problem with it having no moral and basically saying that it doesn’t want to teach its audience anything, and lastly there was the sense of the anime which was just pure average, because at times it made sense and then and times in made utter nonsense.
However I won’t say I hated the anime yet I obviously didn’t love it. I simply enjoyed it, it was 4 hours of my day that I don’t feel I wasted, however if it was 24 episodes then that would be a different story entirely and instead of getting an average of 6 I probably would have given it a 1.
Lastly would I recommend this anime: if you watched season 1 then yes watch season 2 to answer the questions who had from season 1, however if you haven’t watched season 1……..then don’t watch this anime, because combining season 1 and 2 then I feel this anime would be a waste of time because season 2 doesn’t completely do season 1 justice
Genres
Comedy: 8
For 12 episodes and only 4 hours I found that were a lot of comedic references in Season 2 of Black Butler which made it quite enjoying to watch.
Action: 8
When there where action scenes they were always over the top and exuberant, with maids pulling tommy guns out of dresses and butlers skewering three enemies at the same time, really a nice watch.
Mystery: 7
Well nobody saw that ending coming that’s for sure and just because of that I gave it a 7. There were also quite a lot of other plot twists and mysteries a lot of which you won’t see coming and other are just clear as day

Story: 7
The story of Black Butler is quite intricate yet simple at the same time. This is because it is mainly set up into 2-4 episode arcs each with their own story yet also able to connect to the next arc and the previous arc. To put simple though the story basically revolves around a boy named Ciel Phantomhive who lost his parents at a young age and made a contract with the devil to exact revenge on those who killed them. Each arc has a little bit to do with the main story of finding the one who killed his parents even though
...
each arc still has its own story.
Ending: 4
Even though I liked the story of Black Butler I found the ending absolutely atrocious, it just build up so much hype and emotion and then just ends. There is really no way to explain it without ruining it so I won’t explain it. Just understand the only thing we wanted to see and thought we would see, we don’t see. They show us the event proceeding it but then when it comes to the main event it just ends, and that is why I gave it such a low rating.
Solid Plot: 8
I really liked how they were able to keep a solid and consistent plot both of the main story and each individual arc.
Moral: 8
Black Butler touched on a lot of dark and realistic themes which is why I can’t understand why it was rated PG 13. However one of the more ‘childish’ themes even though it was illustrated in such a dark manner, is that no matter who you are, where you are or where you’re from we are all human and we all shed the same color blood
Sense: 5
I can’t say this anime made no sense yet it also didn’t make perfect sense. For starters there are just too many questions left unanswered towards the end of the Anime. Such as (SPOILERS?) why don’t they take the collar off of the demon dog and why is the queen so young; along with many others.
Music: 8
The music of Black Butler was amazing, the openings as well as the ending have go to be up there with my top 5. Also the music was very complimentary to the mood of the scene, the pitch and tone would rise and fall depending on the pace of the scene which was very nice to see.
Art: 8
Absolutely loved the art of Black Butler, no two characters looked the same and also the art work in general was done very well
Characters: 9
The highest point for Black Butler seeing as each main character was given a full background and we also got to witness their background. Character progression was also very nice seeing as they don’t all stay the same from episode 1 up to episode 24. Characters gain maturity, respect and love for one another.
Boredom/Captivation Scale: 8
I quite enjoyed this anime except for the ending which really let it down, if it had a better ending then I would have loved it even more.
Personal Score: 7
A 7 only due to the fact that the ending ruined it for me, and the way I see it the ending of an anime takes up about 70% of the score as it affects everything with rating the main criteria. However with that said would I recommend this anime? A hard question because even though it was generally good I honestly said to myself “what a waste of time” after watching the ending. So yes and no; if you've got nothing better to do with your day and just want an Anime to watch that will take up time then watch this, however if you’re looking for an Anime for a smashing start and banging ending then I don’t recommend this.
Genres
Comedy: 7
The funny scenes where generally funny and sometime had me ‘rolling over laughing’
Action: 8
Action scenes where packed with a lot of fighting and a lot of Hollywood style kills. (he kills people with silver ware)
Supernatural: 7
The average type of supernatural yet with its own twist. We have Angels, Demons, Ghost, Mystery killers and even a demon dog.

Note this is a review for both seasons one and 2 of Black Lagoon because in my eyes there is only one season of Black Lagoon as there is no continuously ongoing story only 3-4 episode arcs!
Criteria
Story: 7
There Really is no ‘solid story’ to Black Lagoon, as its basically separated into 3 episode arc each with their own ‘small story’ however there is no bigger picture, like small events that happen in each arc that are supposed to lead up to the final arc. Each arc completely differs from the other in terms of plot, scenes and story. If there was really any general
...
story it would be about a man named ‘Rock’ who is one day taken for hostage/ransom whilst traveling aboard a boat. He then finds friendship among his kidnappers and joins them upon there many ‘adventures’
Ending: 5
Really average ending seeing as it’s technically just an ending to arc, there was no build up, no mystery, no cliffhanger, it just ends
Solid Plot: 8
The plot is as solid a it gets seeing as they only have to worry about 3-4 episodes worth of plot/story.
Moral: 5
The only one I could make out of this anime was that no matter who you are or where you are you’re on a ‘side’ whether you’re for or against or on the sideline, life will be much easier for you once you realize whose side your on.
Sense: 5
This anime makes ABSOLUTELY NO sense at all. For starters on one of the arc there is an enemy who is basically portrayed as the terminator and can neat die. For example in a room where she drops about 20 grenades from under her dress she so happens to walk out of the fiery building unscathed. For an anime that is based in the real world the laws of ‘death’ surely do not apply.
Music: 6
Really boring music didn't like it out of the whole 24 episodes the music did not change once. The intros and outros remained exactly the same. The music was also not complimentary to the mood of the scene as I couldn't even tell if there was some sort of sound track playing to amplify the mood.
Art: 7
The art was good to say the least. Nice art, nice drawing and at least not every main character looked the same.
Characters: 6
Don’t get me started on the characters because I really disliked them. Especially since there was basically no character development whatsoever; Rock is as much of a cry baby from day as he is until the last episode. A high-schooler has more balls than him. Also Revy’s gun skills remain the same all the way till the last episode. There is no emotional development or physical development.
Boredom/Captivation Scale: 7
If it was for the action scenes I would have left this anime a long, long, long time ago because it just didn't do it for me.
Personal Score: 5
If you’re not into anime that only focus on 3-4 episode story lines and plots then I don’t recommend this anime, however if you are than this anime is perfect for you.
Lastly I would not watch this anime again and I do not recommend it to those who like a good story/plot.
However if you are going to watch it the best Arc of all the 7 arcs is definitely episodes 13-15 (inclusive) ‘Vampire’ Arc and 16-18 (Inclusive) Assassins Arc

Great Action scenes, only thing that kept me watching.

Story: 8
A really interesting yet also simple story that shows the separate lives of two boys and the struggles they go through in finding their dreams and all the struggles and difficulties they encounter on the way. Asou Renji finds his love in a girl whose time stopped at the age of 12, whilst Hirono Hiro finds himself in the middle of a love triangle between his child hood friend and a girl who finds her-self acknowledged for the very first time in years. The love between Asou Renji and his maiden (he believes himself to be a prince ) makes for quite a
...
nice romance and good drama, whilst the love triangle between Hirono Hiro and his ‘admirers’ make for a nice combination of romance, comedy and drama.
Ending: 7.5
I rather liked the ending as it didn’t feel as if it just ended; it felt as if a whole episode was dedicated towards the ending, which allowed for a lot of buildup. We finally see the results of Asou and his love and also the conclusion of Asou and Hirono’s dreams. All up a rather good ending.
Solid Plot: 8.5
Plot was good, as every episode related somewhat to the main story. None of those episodes where it’s like “what the hell has this got to do with anything”. And if it does seem that way its relevance will be shown later on. Plot was good and consistent.
Moral: 9
Of the many morals that this anime portrays by far the best your have to be that miracles sometimes do happen, we just have to believe in them, and that sometimes a miracle is the byproduct of one’s own actions. This anime is also a harsh smack in the face to what reality really is, with that said the character Kuza-san is like the wise hermit with all the advice and proverbs that no one understands but it makes sense.
Asou: “Miracles don’t exist”
Kuza: “There are only inevitabilities and accidents, and what you’re going to do”
“But sometimes the outcomes of you actions which become inevitable, will overlap with accidents and fulfil your dream unexpectedly”
Sense: 9
Everything in EF – A Tale of Memories was thoroughly explained so when you finish the anime you don’t leave thinking ‘what the hell did I just watch’…..except for asking yourself who the hell is that girl?
Music: 9
Music of EF was also very nice and relative to the mood. During romantic scenes romantic music would be played to enhance the mood and during sad scenes sad music would be played to make you feel even sadder.
Art: 10
The art for EF was ABSOLUTEY AMAZING. I loved the art from the get go. Mixing in real life pictures with anime, just one of the techniques used to illustrate the seriousness of some scenes. Episode 7 was pretty scary though. However everything from the colors to the drawings where just done amazingly.
Characters: 8
Both character creation and character development was very impressive. From a girl stuck in time to one who is able to face her fears and accomplish her dreams and from a boy who has no idea what to do to one facing reality and choosing abandonment over complete loss. The characters in this story where truly great.
Boredom/Captivation Scale: 7
I do admit however that the first 3-4 episodes of this anime had me on the side of my bed waiting for the ‘real thing’ to hurry up and start, but once the real thing did start it was a roller coaster of emotions. The funny parts I found extremely funny, the sad arts relatively sad (not as sad as Angel Beats or Ano Hana) and the romantic parts really romantic.
Personal Score: 8
Overall an 8. In short if you haven’t watched this anime yet get on it like….NOW!
