Hunter x Hunter (2011)
add

One Piece has always been great when it comes to a good challenge—especially a good fight! Another show that certainly has this element is Hunter x Hunter. To be a hunter is a huge privilege and you need to take the Hunter Exam in order to pass. The only catch? There's an extremely low success rate and it's pretty dangerous. Gon Freecss is out to become a Hunter so he can find his missing father.

Boku no Hero Academia
add

A shounen anime about young kids training to be superheroes should already draw you in, but if you'd like a show that admires determination to be the best, My Hero Academia might just be for you. Young Izuku Midoriya seems to have been born with no quirk, super powers of his own and yet, he is determined to be the greatest hero out there!

If you love shounen characters that love being absolutely ridiculous and yet strangely likable, Naruto is another classic you could start watching today with plenty of content! A horrific beast, named the Nine-Tails, is sealed inside the body of a young boy named Naruto. His ambitions to be a great ninja, and even the Hokage of his village, will not waver despite how much he's looked down upon. Much like Luffy, he's loud, ridiculous, and he never gives up.

Fairy Tail has a lot in common with One Piece - even if there aren't really any pirates. Following the story of the Celestial Spirit Mage Lucy Heartfilia, we find all the themes of adventure and friendship woven throughout the story. It's set in a fantasy-type world where magic is abundant, so if you love this genre, you'll be excited to binge it!

Bleach

If you're a big fan of Zoro because of his sword fighting skills, you might actually want to watch Bleach. This is mainly because both shows have a grumpy character that carries around a unique sword, or swords, and holds mass amounts of power. Ichigo Kurosaki finds himself being a substitute reaper for Rukia Kuchiki; an injured reaper who cannot continue her duties. Ichigo is not your average hero, but we find him saving the day—even if it is a little begrudgingly.

Very similar to Akame Ga Kill, especially as far as “group numbers” for main characters. And some of the action as well. Except this anime’s theme is vampires and military to an extent.

JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken (TV)
add

Hunters are aptly-named bounty hunters and explorers who search hidden ruins for lost treasures, while occasionally risking their lives to hunt down and capture dangerous criminals. With idealistic dreams for the future, youngster Gon Freecss dreams of becoming one of the world’s greatest hunters, not only for the glory but in the hopes of finding his absentee father, who was a former hunter himself. In order to achieve his dreams, Gon must pass the feared “Hunters Examination,” a challenge known for its low chance of success, where failure costs aspiring Hunters their very lives. Along the way to undertake the exam, Gon finds himself up against horrible monsters, nefarious villains, and circumstances beyond his control. With the help of his companions, he just might learn what it takes to become a true Hunter and increase his chances of surviving insurmountable odds. Hunter x Hunter (2011) is a complete reboot of Yoshihiro Togashi’s hit series, Hunter x Hunter, similar to the latest iteration of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. Much like the latter series, it is an action-adventure series that sees its protagonist up against almost insurmountable odds, with a hefty dose of otherworldly powers to give action scenes an even more engaging edge. With a memorable cast of supporting characters, and a rather inspirational message at its heart, Hunter x Hunter is a series fans of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure should not miss.

Charlotte is charming, in its own way. If only it just expanded more and dug deeper. It could have beaten the competition easily. But well, too late for that. It’s still a good anime, and that’s why I’m putting it here. The events of the plot are in a time loop. And as you probably know, time travel always leads to surprising twists! Charlotte was decent, but you may not find it as satisfying as ERASED.

n terms of psychological magnitude, story, and character development, Mirai Nikki truly outshines many other titles! It’s crazy, it’s whacky—it’s one of a kind! A group of random people must fight (with the help of their cellphones) to stay alive and emerge victoriously. Mirai Nikki is a kindred spirit of ERASED in one way or another. Both end in a grand final reveal. I really REALLY recommend it, so watch away!

So this is another one of those shows riddled with out-of-this-world twists and crazy time-loop elements thrown into this chaos. Cute little magical girls, an adorable and fluffy pet-like creature, a seemingly normal life clad with a bit of magic—what could possibly go wrong? As we inevitably find out, magic actually comes with a price. And in Puella Magi Madoka Magika, the price is GRAVE! Magic mayhem, witchery, an evil cutesy creature—what started up as an innocent magical girl anime progresses into something sinister!

Let’s do more screwing around with time travel! That’s pretty much what goes on in Steins;Gate, in which a bunch of psuedo-scientists stumble upon a device that allows them to communicate with the past and alter the flow of history. But the goal of the cast here isn’t to prevent some major tragedy from occurring. Not at first, anyway. Eventually, all they’re trying to do is clean up their own mess, as their meddling brings all sorts of butterfly effect consequences to bear.

Both Zetsuen no Tempest and Mirai Nikki deals with a world that is prone to its very demise. It's the world tree for ZnT, while it's the impending doom of the God of Space and Time in Mirai Nikki. Both anime deals with time-bending plot twists as well. And everything moves-on in an unseemly and unsettling manner that puts viewers on the thrilling seat of a mind-blowing ride. Also, the thrill and suspense are particularly strong with both that they'll keep you on track for wild-guessing what's gonna happen next.

A group of people fighting through a world full of darkness and secrets. A shadow that's trailing the world hidden deep within the society. A threatening conspiracy that no one ever knew. Code Breaker possesses all these mystifying elements much like how Zetsuen no Tempest does. And in this anime as well, powers not known to regular people plays in important role in the truth of reality that's operating far beneath the facade of normal daily living. And also, the story seems to revolve around a girl whose existence has something to do in the grand master-plan of things.

Code Geass shares similar themes with Zetsuen no Tempest, the most apparent being revenge. Both protagonists set out on a journey to seek said revenge, and find a world much darker and more violent than they could have previously imagined. While Code Geass focuses much more on military tactics than magic or witches, the overall feel of both anime is similar. And as both anime progress, the characters come to realize things about themselves and their situations that will change them.

Owari no Seraph
add

Zetsuen no Tempest’s themes of revenge and close brotherly friendship abound in Owari no Seraph. Yuuichirou has the same thirst for revenge as Mahiro does, with the same level of self-destructive rage backing it. The two anime are also both very dark, drawing on supernatural human-like creatures to drive the plot along (witches/magic and vampires/demons/angels). However, Owari no Seraph does focus more on redemption than Zetsuen no Tempest. Yuuichirou is searching for a reason to keep living after his family’s tragic death.
