Yuru Camp gathers people around the campfire, immersing them in nature and good feelings. This is the kind of anime that can help relieve a lot stress—especially after a hard day’s work. Some may even categorize it as a “healing anime.” From its cozy visuals of nature to its cute, lovable characters, Yuru Camp takes the simple concept of camping with friends and transforms it into an anime that emits a relaxing sensation in every episode. With this in mind, this review will demonstrate why Yuru Camp is a must watch for those looking for a good feel-good anime.
Because Yuru Camp is a laid back
...
anime, it does not have a detailed plot. It simply follows the days in the life of its characters as they do camp related things. Instead of a complex story, the anime presents camping sequences that produce a relaxing feeling and light-hearted, comedic scenes that manage to give good laughs. By not having a complex story, the anime takes on a relaxing tone which encourages people to take life easy and absorb the beauty of nature through Yuru Camp.
Although the anime does not have a complex story, Yuru Camp does have a lovely bunch of characters. Each of the characters has their own unique personalities which makes them memorable and adds life to the anime. Interestingly, the cast is introduced in a way such that the audience “befriends” the characters, so to speak. The viewer meets the characters and just starts hanging out with them as friends. Consequently, the characters possess some ambiguity because the anime does not answer the question: “How did the Yuru Camp girls get into camping in the first place?” This fact alienates the characters from the audience. But, this would be an important case if the anime develops some sort of plot later.
Aside from its characters, Yuru Camp’s artwork involves immersive backgrounds and landscapes that bring the Japanese natural sceneries to life. This beautiful art evokes a relaxing feeling similar to the feeling of seeing a breathtaking view from a mountaintop. The character designs are cute and stay true to the manga but, do not take away any realism from the backgrounds. In short, the anime has awesome art which immerses the audience into the world of Yuru Camp. As a result, the artwork is indeed an essential quality that makes Yuru Camp a relaxing watch.
To embellish the art, Yuru Camp’s music creates the anime’s country-side atmosphere that fits the overall camping theme very well. The music from acoustic guitars, violins, and the occasional banjo provides the country-side feeling which enhances the beauty of nature depicted in the anime. In a sense, the music evokes a feeling that is comparable to strolling in a park or hiking a nature trail with friends and family. Such is the nature of Yuru Camp’s music which is ideal for a camping anime.
Upon evaluation, Yuru Camp proves to be a good feel-good anime that induces a relaxing feeling through its art, soundtrack, and characters. This anime relaxes the mind and gives audiences a chance to take a walk in nature without having to go out. But, on the other hand, Yuru Camp does inspire people to go outside once in a while to enjoy nature.

If there is anything that one can take away from Love Tyrant (Renai Boukun), it would be that this anime sheds a more positive light on the yandere personality. It shows how passionate a yandere can be to her beloved. In addition to having an amusing take on the yandere, Love Tyrant’s slapstick comedy also brings plenty of laughs which made the series interesting to watch. However, as the anime went on, it degraded into another regurgitation of a plot from other harem anime and disappoints people who were expecting something new from this series. The anime’s story becomes bland and feels dragged and its
...
static characters ultimately become annoyances, making the anime a chore to watch. Although Love Tyrant gives good laughs and innovates the heroine roster by adding a yandere to it, the anime destroys its initial charm by introducing a bland story partway through the series.
At first, the plot of Love Tyrant seemed interesting with its parody of Death Note, but in a short while, it abandoned this concept. The Death Note parody should have been kept because using this concept, the anime was able to deliver many clever jokes and plenty of slapstick comedy that made the show funny and interesting to watch. But, after a couple of episodes, this idea was dropped in place for a melodramatic romantic series of events that usually happen in a typical harem anime. Thus, Love Tyrant turns into a bland story halfway through and this sudden shift in story introduces the audience to a whole different plot which in turn, confuses viewers and decreases any initial interest in the anime.
With concern for its characters, Love Tyrant’s static characters benefit the comedic aspect of the anime. The main characters, Guri and Aino Seiji, made an amusing jokester and straight man duo. Along with the yandere, Akane Hiyama, the tsundere character, Yuzu Kichougasaki, and a cast of other side characters, the anime creates an interesting heroine roster and seemingly produces a comedy-focused harem anime. But, after the story changed, these characters continue to be static which made the rest of the anime aggravating to watch. It bothers the viewer to the point where she wants to punch each character in the face because the characters themselves and their relationships with each other don't seem to change at all.
Regarding the art and music, the anime does have flashy animations that captures the charm of each heroine. The soundtrack also enhances the hilarity of comedic scenes and pulls on viewers’ heart strings during romantic sequences.
Although Love Tyrant charms its audience with its unique heroines, clever comedy, and flashy animation, this anime is a satisfying watch to an extent. Because it abandoned its initial story in place with a plot with melodramatic romance, Love Tyrant destroyed the foundation that may have made it stand out from many harem series and conformed to other everyday harem anime. Love Tyrant is an anime that started off strong, but weakened as it progressed through with its story. Overall, the anime is a good watch for a good laugh, but leaves viewers unsatisfied and confused by the end. It may please people who are new to the harem genre, but disappoint those who were expecting something new from Love Tyrant.

Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon reemphasizes the themes of friendship and belonging as it charms its audience with cuteness. From the author, Cool Kyoushinsha, and the studio, Kyoto Animation, Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid is a slice of life anime that can definitely brighten up anyone’s day through its heart-filled story and lovable characters. Even though it has elements and characters that come from the fantastic, the anime’s story encourages people to reflect upon their own friendships and gauge their belonging with others. With its fluid animation and vivid art style, this anime creates a world which has a level of realism that mirrors reality but still
...
has a cartoonish style that adds a subtle fantasy atmosphere. The voice acting and music of Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid also establishes a friendly and playful tone in every episode, nicely embellishing the anime as a whole. As a result of this anime’s elements, Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid is a slice of life anime that proves to be an enjoyable and meaningful watch.
Regarding the story, Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid portrays a slice of life story that follows the daily life of the character, Miss Kobayashi, and the dragons that she lives and interacts with. But, even though this anime does have its light-hearted moments, Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid revolves around Miss Kobayashi’s and Tohru’s struggle to accept each other and each other’s worlds. The dragon maid, Tohru, is an outlier of society who wants to fit in and the human, Miss Kobayashi, is the vessel through which she can learn how to fit into and live in the world. The same could be said about Miss Kobayashi who must also learn how to live in her changed world. Thus, in order to resolve this alien versus the norm conflict, the anime’s heartwarming moments not only charms the audience, but also propels the growth of the characters’ relationships. To compliment these heart-filled moments, there are several gags in this anime that lighten up the mood, showing the comedy of the abnormal living with the norm. This combination of comedy and heartwarming scenes illustrates the development of relationships from inclusion to affection, reemphasizing the idea that anyone can befriend someone who is completely different from herself. To evaluate, although this anime is indeed a simple slice of life story, its themes of friendship and belonging give the anime even more meaning.
With respect to the characters and their development, Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid introduces several memorable characters that add cuteness and fun to the anime. The introduction of other dragons such as Kanna, Lucoa, Fafnir, and Elma eases Tohru’s conflict of fitting into Kobayashi’s world. Bringing attention to the main human character, Miss Kobayashi, even though her character is plain at first, her development throughout the anime is significant. Miss Kobayashi’s development from a serious, closed-minded character to a happy, open-minded character demonstrates how Tohru and the dragons have significantly impacted her life. Similarly, Tohru also develops her trust for the humans and gains knowledge of where she belongs in Kobayashi's world. But, her character does not develop as much as Miss Kobayashi because of her loyalty as a maid to Miss Kobayashi. Summing up, the characters of Kobayashi's Dragon Maid liven up the anime's atmosphere and are very memorable.
In terms of art and animation, Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid executes its story well with vivid art and animation. This anime’s art style is indeed cartoonish, but it still captures the essence of reality in such way that makes the characters and settings seem real. The vivid animation also upholds a lively, cartoonish mood but still maintains some level of realism. In other words, the animation pays great attention to the practical movements of reality, remarkably displaying the beauty of each character’s motions.
In order to absorb the audience into the anime even more, Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid’s voice acting and soundtrack embellish the story and animation, giving life to the anime as a whole. The choice of cast for the anime is well done and accurately portrays the characters’ attitudes and personalities. The music also adds to the overall atmosphere of this anime. From playful and cute tunes to serious and heartwarming melodies, the anime’s soundtrack greatly enhances the overall feel of the anime, making every scene even more memorable.
Thus, from anyone who wants to relax to someone who wants some enlightenment, Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid both warms the heart and expands upon themes to think about. The anime’s cuteness will have audience members hooked into a story that may seem simple, but has a hidden depth to it. But, there are indeed other themes other than friendship and belonging that this anime explores. So, it is up to the viewer to find them or just sit back and enjoy a fluffy anime. To conclude, this anime is a well done slice of life anime that anyone can enjoy.
But, the decision to watch this anime is entirely up to you. I acknowledge and respect all opinions about this anime and I hope that you'll read my reviews in the future!

In short, Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale was a satisfying movie to watch. It was satisfying because the story wasn’t too confusing to watch. It only drew from events that happened in the first season of SAO and doesn’t require you to watch the entire anime or require you to have read all the novels. It just introduces a new story with the characters we know and gives viewers a good time watching. This eases the minds of those who haven’t watched or read SAO (I’m currently one of those people). So, whether you’re a veteran anime watcher, casual otaku, or a non-anime watcher wanting
...
to watch SAO, then this movie will probably be a satisfying watch.
Specifics about SAO Ordinal Scale:
Briefly, the story was straightforward as it followed the typical SAO (or any) plot progression. Prepare to dive into augmented reality as the virtual world collides with the real world. Of course, you’ll be asking yourself: what can go wrong this time? Join Kirito and his friends as they try to fight against the evil that the new AR headsets possesses and uncover the secret behind Ordinal Scale.
But, even with the straightforward story, the characters seem to be static. Almost none of the characters have notable changes throughout the movie's plot. As a result, the characters didn't really add any new spice to the movie. Well, this is a given because of the time period that the movie’s events take place (1 or 2 weeks). But, hey, at least we see Kirito actually pushing himself to be OP (turns out he was only good in VR).
Artistically speaking, the art wasn’t too bad because it easily depicted the characters, monsters, and their environment. But, compared to the TV anime, the movie’s animation lacked fluidity and consistency—especially in its action scenes. You could see this comparison when they flashback to summarize some of the events in the Aincrad arc. In other words, the animation is watchable, but it isn’t the kind of art that could blow you away.
The sound quality was okay. The voice acting was good as usual. But, the sound overall wasn’t too exciting, though. Honestly, they could have used the old OSTs because there weren’t many beautiful or epic music in this movie unlike what we’ve heard in the anime. They probably put too much effort into the songs that the idol character sang. But, either way, those expecting to hear some good pieces by Yuki Kajiura, don’t get your hopes too high.
But, overall, SAO: Ordinal Scale was enjoyable. I enjoyed it at least. My theater was really noisy because we were all cheering for Kirito and Asuna kicking ass. So, you should have a fun time watching.
Overall, this movie is balanced in its strengths and flaws. I wouldn’t really give it a 10 or 9 because it didn’t really blow me away like its original anime. On the other hand, this movie just delivers an entirely new story that follows a point A to point B path. So, this movie doesn’t spoil too much outside its main story other than the Aincrad arc. Thus, it’s a good starter for people who haven’t watched SAO but want to watch it.
But, it was nice to see anime on the big screen. It was nice to see that many new and old members of the otaku community-- and even the general public-- can get together to watch anime. Hopefully, there will be another movie like this because these things are rare.

Kokoro ga Sakebittegaterunda reembraces the theme of “expressing yourself,” reminding people that it is okay to speak out their true feelings about anything. This anime film, from the creators of Anohana and Toradora, tells a coming of age story that many people can relate to. Because the film illustrates a very relatable everyday situation, Kokosake evokes enough nostalgia to the point where the film becomes tear-jerking. The film’s situation can be seen as a general self-reflection of anyone’s life, questioning the freedom of expression—whether one should talk her feelings out to the world freely, or keep any thoughts to herself. But, acknowledging that there are
...
many more choices and themes than this, Kokosake's story, characters, and music shows that it is a beautiful anime film worth watching.
With regards to the film’s story, Kokosake’s slice of life storytelling successfully portrays a situation that many people can relate to. In general, this plot sets to resolve the protagonists’ internal conflicts through the events of resolving the story’s conflict. In Kokosake’s case, Naruse Jun, the protagonist of the anime, has her internal conflict in which she cannot speak her true feelings—the main conflict that the film revolves around. As the story progresses, the resolution of the story’s conflict, the school musical, helped her to “open up her heart.” Cleverly enough, the story not only resolves Naruse Jun's internal conflict, but also resolves the conflicts of the other protagonists in the film.
The characters’ development in Kokosake was also enjoyable to watch. Kokosake’s plot is very beneficial toward developing the main protagonists’ relationship, communication, and their feelings toward each other. For example, Naruse’s personality changes as the story progresses. Naruse’s actions to “break out of her shell” is hilarious and at the same time relatable, making the film more interesting. There are some bits of comedy and typical anime tropes that tangent off the main story. But, overall, the story is well paced, has enough content to convey the film’s message, and concisely portrays the actions that Naruse Jun and the other protagonists take to resolve the main conflict.
The artwork that portrays this story brings the animation to life. With Anohana’s and Toradora’s art style, Kokosake’s artwork impressively makes the animation look realistic. The film’s settings is well drawn and emits an earthly vibe throughout the film. The characters of the anime were drawn really well to the point where anime seems to be merging with reality. The characters movements in the animation follow most physics and their facial expressions—especially Naruse’s expressions—is exaggerated to express emotions and feelings. Since Naruse does not initially communicate with actual words in the film, her facial expressions and body language conveys an idea about what she is trying to say. With this realistic and expressive art style, Kokosake’s art is one quality that makes the anime a beautiful film.
But, one of the main qualities that makes Kokosake such a beautiful film is through sound. Because the anime aims to encourage the freedom of expression, the voice acting and music are exaggerated. The voice acting matches the characters and their personalities and the music is well composed to match the situations during the plot, enhancing the liveliness of the anime. As the protagonists who can talk speak, the music serves as a substitute for Naruse’s silence and embellishes the atmosphere of the film. It may be because of the film’s music that enables people to shed tears along with the nostalgic story.
With this, Kokosake’s plot, artwork, voice acting, and soundtrack enhances the anime’s beauty, making the movie enjoyable to watch. The film does indeed beautifully conveys its theme. Thus, Kokosake’s coming of age story is one of many good anime that people young and old can enjoy.
But, the decision of whether this anime is worth watching is definitely up to you. I acknowledge and respect any opinions that you have for this anime and I hope that you will read my reviews in the future.

With the Summer 2015 anime season coming to a close, Mon Musume is one ecchi, harem anime that made summer enjoyable.
The animation is smooth enough for the show to be watchable and the voice acting really matches the characters and brings out the life, beauty and cuteness within each monster girl. The art style was not super amazing with the artwork looking a bit rushed, but I was impressed at how well the animators have depicted the hybrid monster people and their movements. If the studio had more time, they could have polished the animation match the manga's illustrations. But, I understand that making
...
an anime adaptation is difficult and takes a lot of hard work.
Nonetheless, the idea of a harem with a variety of monster girls is a good one, at least for this anime. Even though the main plot is a bit unclear at first, I found the fan service and ecchi elements to be as equally satisfying as an anime with a serious plot. The anime was clear in the introduction of new characters, but the ecchi element overpowered storytelling, making any story irrelevant which is essential to most slice of life anime. I have not fully read the manga yet so I may be mistaken about the actual story. Regardless, it was hilarious to watch Darling-kun's interactions with the monster girls. It really shed light on the slice of life part of this anime in which I felt like a person who is just hanging out with Mon Musume's characters--almost felt like I was going on a date every week until the 12th episode. This anime does not really need any serious plot at all. It is fine with just comedy and harem elements as "every day life with monster girls" lets life in this anime flow naturally.
Mon Musume is one those anime that has the characters accept that they're in a harem and the MC is not that dense. So, be rest assured that this harem will be enjoyable despite the great possibility that the MC will never choose a girl in the future.
Overall, Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou was a good summer anime of 2015 though not the best of the best one out there, acknowledging that there are other similar series that may be better than this one. But I enjoyed MonMusu quite a bit to the point where I am finding snake and spider girls to be attractive, leading me to question my corrupted life. As a person spectating the shipping competitions, I am looking forward to a second season of this hilarious anime.
Though others will disagree with my rating due to my naivety of anime analysis, I am a "kohai" in the anime realm, hoping that my future reviews will be better than this one. Thanks to anyone who has read this review!
