Haha, I liked it! I've watched the old 90's/2000's Devilman stuff too, and I still think the weakest aspect of Devilman is the story. Every version of it looks great and has some great themes and ideas, but I guess I'm just not that intrigued by what actually transpires or why. It was nice to get an ending though, since the old ones kinda glossed over the wrap-up. And I'm always pretty excited to see something new from Masaaki Yuasa.
Cool, dude. Oh yeah, I forgot to let you know that I finished Abenobashi. Haha. I certainly did enjoy it, especially the first four or so episodes and the last few episodes. I wish the ending just went where it was leading rather than having the sudden reversal at the end. But yeah, it was good stuff! Thanks for the suggestion. :D
Still in NYC. I work in Manhattan now at a pretty big deal liquor store. Still in a band, although we're kind of dead in the water atm because we have no drummer.
I was impressed by Heritage. I thought it was gonna be mediocre when I heard The Devil's Orchard. But when you hear the whole album, it's really neat. This sort of laid back sound they have on here works imo, and it's more or less extending the softer, proggier passages found on Watershed. I'm really digging it. So far, my favorite tracks are Slither, Famine, Nepenthe and I think the final track. Specifically with Slither, hearing a Deep Purple, old school pre-metal song was the LAST thing I expected them to play. Wouldn't call it my favorite, though. 8/10
Oh, and if you want to get some Folk/Pagan metal in you, look Arkona. Female vocals, melodies AND growls. She puts Angela Gossow to shame, imo. All lyrics are in Russian, too, which is actually a good thing. It maintains the mystery of what she is singing about (Slavic gods and slavic culture) and plus it's RUSSIAN.
So I couldn't stop listening to Edge of Sanity's 'Crimson' today. It's finally gotten to the point where I LOVE it. I'll be honest, it didn't grab me when you first introduced it to me, but I listened to the whole thing 5 times today alone. And it's more enjoyable when you read the lyrics.

Kinda disappointed that they didn't include this hilarious cut of Akira-mon ripping off this insect demons tits and eating them: https://makeagif.com/gif/amon-apocalypse-of-the-devilman-full-length-movie-gC7ehs
As for Abenobashi, even though it's not on my list, I've actually been meaning to watch it! So I can certainly do that.

And if you want a different suggestion, I'd say Welcome to Irabu's Office next, and Flowers of Evil after that. :P
All really special visually, each in their own unique way, and some interesting and unusual stuff narratively too.
Yeah, lol. I've been putting it off for a long time. Going to watch it slowly, though.
I'm good, dude. How have you been?
