Unnamed Memory is a non-isekai fantasy romance title, the typical medieval with magic world. There are kingdoms, some political wars, bandits, and witches.
The 5 witches are very powerful in this world. And all of them play a role in the story.
Not going into details on how the story begin as you guys can read the synopsis by Yen Press.
Now to the characters:
Oscar. Prince and male lead. Great in martial arts. A ton of women are infatuated with him but he declined them all because of his curse.
Tinasha. Witch Of The Azure Moon. Strongest of the five witches in combat. Although she is more than

400 years old. She acts like a teenage girl as she is isolated from the rest of the world for decades.
There are many other characters, I am not going to describe all of them one by one as there are too many to remember.
There are 2 parts in this light novel.
First arc: Volume 1-3. The synopsis describes the setting.
Second arc: Volume 4-6. Oscar time-travelled back to four hundred years and changed the progress of an alternate timeline.
My overall thoughts on this light novel:
Likes:
1. Oscar. His actions / dialogues are hilarious. He is very straightforward, such as charging in with brute force.
2. Cute dragon Nark.
3. Does not follow most anime tropes except for the time-travel.
Dislikes:
1. This light novel is hard to read due to the complexity. It has ton of characters and many events occurring. Many chapters in a single volume.
Overall, I have some fun with it, but can be time-consuming to read because of the complexity.
Who do I recommend to:
1. Fluffy Romance fans. Angel Next Door fans.
2. Time Travel fans. Steins;Gate, Muv-Luv, Re:Zero fans.
Who do I not recommend to:
1. People who are new to reading light novels. You will be lost if you are new to reading.

2) This light novel is dark.
For anyone who does not know about the author, Bokuto Uno. He also wrote Alderamin On The Sky. I have already written a separate review on it, suspecting he is a Gundam fan when the series go into Turn A Gundam in Volume 12. I really enjoyed his writing, such as his plot twists and likeable characters. And therefore, I decided to pick his new work, Reign Of The Seven Spellblades. My reaction in Volume 1: Nice illustrations! Garuda in a story about humans! :)
I will now explain the sypnosis of Reign Of The Seven Spellblades.
The story is set in Kimberly Magic Academy. Basically Hogwarts from Harry Potter, not those typical magical academy we see in light novels nowadays.
The male protagonist, Oliver Horn, enrolls into Kimberly for a reason that will be explained in the epilogue of Volume 1. When Oliver enrolls, he made new friends, Nanao, Guy, Pete, Katie and Michela.
However, Kimberly Magic Academy is different from most magic academy we see nowadays. The professors do not care if the students are injured or killed. The curriculums are dangerous. Students getting injured during practical lessons are a norm.
Like Harry Potter, the types of lessons includes alchemy, magical biology (griffin, succubus), magical engineering, curses, riding on a broomstick and even swordsmanship.
The school is dangerous at night. If the students are not in the dormitories, they might be tranported into the labyrinth. There is a labyrinth under the castle, which is dangerous filled with monsters. There are wyverns, dragons, skeletons in the labyrinth. In the labyrinth, there are older students dueling inside. Some of the older students capture younger students for human experimentation. Hence, first-year and second-year students are encouraged not visit the labyrinth. Prefects are patrolling at night to ensure younger students do not get trapped in the labyrinth.
Now to the characters, there are 6 major characters, just like Alderamin On The Sky:
Oliver Horn. Male protagonist of the series. He is a jack-of-all-trades, masters-of-none. Oliver does not specialise in anything, his intelligence makes up for his lack of specialty.
Hibiya Nanao. Female protagonist of the series. She is a samurai from Azia, fictional Japan. Nanao is a strong swordswoman and has high magic aptitude, but she is an airhead. Her intelligence is so bad that Oliver has to look out for her reckless and stupid actions. Nanao wants to duel with Oliver to the death. Nanao enrolled after being scouted by one of the professors.
Guy Greenword. Guy is from a magical farmer and knowledgeable about magical flora. Guy is the second airhead. Guy is the friendly guy in the group but does not get along with Katie. Quite similar to Ron from Harry Potter.
Pete Reston. Pete is born in a nonmagical family, kinda like Hermione from Harry Potter. Pete is a tsundere and a hardworking loner who vists the library regularly, similar to Hermione. >_>
Katie Aalto. Katie is from a foreign country and her parents are activists advocating for demi-humans rights. Has passion in magical biology. Katie personality is similar to Chamille from Alderamin, can be naive at times. Katie has a crush on Oliver.
Michela MacFarlane. Michela is a noble. Her father is a professor in Kimberly Magic Academy. He is also the one who scouted Nanao into Kimberly. Michela is similar to Yatotishino from Alderamin, excelling in everything.
Who do I recommend this light novel to?
1) Harry Potter fans. Kimberly is more similar to Hogwarts than most of the magic schools we see in recent anime / manga / light novel.
2) Made In Abyss fans. The labyrinth is as exciting to the one in Made In Abyss.
3) Full Metal Alchemist and Berserk fan. This light novel is dark.
Who do I not recommend this light novel to?
1) Young children. This light novel is too dark for young children. Read Harry Potter to them instead.
2) People who wants overpowered protagonists. None of the major characters are overpowered. Oliver gets heavily injured in fights.
My thoughts on it? I enjoyed it.
What I like:
1) Great plot twists. It is written by Bokuto Uno, so I am not surprised.
2) Likeable characters. Hopefully none of them gets killed off. A lot of characters have been killed off based on Volume 5.
3) Great worldbuilding. Combination of Harry Potter and Made In Abyss.
4) Beautiful illustrations. I will never pick up the manga after looking at the beautiful illustrations in the light novel.
What I dislike:
1) Fights can become too battle-shounen at times. Well, students get killed off in fights. There are students who can turn into werewolves.
2) Pacing can be slow at times. Especially between Volume 2 and Volume 4.
Overall, I have a lot of fun with it. I will continue reading this light novel and update this review. Hope that this review helps in deciding if you should pick up this light novel. :)

Updated as of Volume 7 - 22 March 2023 - My thoughts are pretty much the same. Fixed some spelling.
Definition of Generic Isekai:
A male protagonist gets summoned/reincarnated into another world. He becomes overpowered and gets a harem of girls. Examples: Sword Art Online, How Not To Summon A Demon Lord, Death March To The Parallel World, etc.
Now the question is: "Is Reborn To Master The Blade: From Hero-King To Extraordinary Squire a Generic Isekai?"
The answer is No. It is a reincarnation but not an isekai. And the protagonist, Inglis does not want to become a hero.
I will describe the synopsis.
...
There is a man known as Inglis. He is blessed with a power known as Aether from a goddess. He eventually became the hero-king by founding a powerful country.
When the hero-king Inglis is about to die from his old age, the goddess came to visit him and asks him if he has any wishes. Hero-king Inglis replied that he has spent too much time dealing with politics and unable to spend time with swordsmanship. He wants to be able to become a master swordsman in his next life. The goddess grants him his wish and reincarnate him thousands of years later as a girl known as Inglis Euccus.
When Inglis Euccus is reincarnated as an infant girl, she noticed that humanity is constantly under attack by magical creatures known as magicite beasts.
Regarding magicite beasts, they are formed by prism powder falling on animal. Magicite beasts cannot be slain with normal medieval weapons, they can only be slain by artefacts. Artefacts can only be wielded by knights with a magic rune. However, artefacts can only be obtained from the highlanders, a group of elites who live on a floating island. To obtain the artefacts from the highlanders, humanity has to pay tributes to them regularly, such as food or human lives. There are times that countries pay tributes that the citizens start starving from food shortages.
There are other technology that are provided by the highlanders, one of them includes the Flygear, which is flying boat powered by magic, usually driven around by squires when fighting magicite beasts.
There is a very strong type of magicite beasts known as a prismer. Prismer can only be defeated by a knight with a spcial-type rune wielding a hierial menace. Knights with special-type runes, also known as holy knight, are very rare and are usually protected as a valuable asset. Hieral menace are live humans turned into a weapon by the highlanders.
There is a group of terrorists known as Steelbloods. Their objective is to rebel against the highlands. They have the prismer powder to turn highlanders into magicite beasts.
In summary, humanity has become slaves to the highlanders to obtain weapons from them to survive against magicite beasts.
Getting back on Inglis, Inglis is born as a daughter of a knight's captain. Her uncle is a duke. She has 2 cousins, Rafael and Rafinha. Rafael has a special class rune, which makes him a holy knight. Rafinha is the same age as Inglis, which makes them very close. Rafinha has a high-class rune and wields a bow. Inglis is runeless due to interference from her Aether. Since Inglis is runeless, she is unable to become a knight and could only serve as a squire. Hence, Inglis decides to become Rafinha's squire. She is fine with it since she only cares about fighting and not care about being a hero. Rafinha eventually enrolls into knight academy in the knight program while Inglis attends the same academy in the squire program.
Now to the characters:
Major characters (They are all nobles):
Inglis Euccus aka Chris. The protagonist of this LN. Inglis is a parody-sue, she is overpowered for comedic purposes (similar to Saitama from One Punch Man or Mob from Mob Psycho 100), destroying her opponents without runes, most of the time with her brute force (and Aether). Saitama cries when he missed out a sale, Inglis cries when she becomes hungry, she has a huge appetite. For her personality, she is Goku 2.0. She does not care about politics or becoming a hero. She wants to fight strong opponents such as herial menances, prismers and steelbloods. Inglis is currently enrolled in squire program to serve Rani's squire. Inglis is overprotective of Rani, treating her as her granddaughter. Remember I mentioned that she is parody-sue? How to get a Flygear, borrow one from the knights academy? Nope, loot it from the highlanders after they are defeated by the steelbloods. Magicite beast attack in the middle of a feast. Do I protect other people? Nope, protect the food! XD
Rafinha Bilford aka Rani. Cousin of Inglis. Rafinha has a high-class rune. She tends to use a bow. She eventually gains a bow artefact that could heal injuries. Like Inglis, she has a huge appetite for food. For her personality, she is very naive idealistic girl, similar of Historia from Attack On Titan or Lena from 86. She always insists to stop to help the weak or give food to the starving people. She frequently daydreams Inglis and her brother, Rafael, getting married. Her description of Inglis "Body of an angel with the soul of a warlord".
Leone Olfa. A friend of both Inglis and Rafinha, met during their journey to the knights academy. Her artefacts is a broadsword. She eventually gets a broadsword that can is able to send multiple people into another dimension similar to Kakashi/Obito Mangekyou Sharingan. She is an avenger, trying to kill her brother, as he is part of the steelbloods, not going to say too much as these are heavy spoilers for Volume 3.
Liselotte Arcia. She is the daughter of the chancellor. She uses a lance artefact. She could grow angel wings and fly. For her personality, she is very competitive, wants to compete with Inglis and becomes stronger. She starts off cold to Leone and they eventually gets better and become roommates.
Now for the other schoolmates:
Lahti. An exchange student in squire program. He is Inglis's classmate. He is very caring towards Pullum, another student in knight program. Not going to say much about him due to heavy spoilers in Volume 4/5.
Pullum. An exchange student from the same country as Lahti. Not going to say much due to heavy spoilers in Volume 5.
Yua. A upperclassman of Inglis. She is a runeless but she can fight off magicite beasts. Her ability is to merge with nature. Which gives her superhuman ability to destroy magicite beasts easily. For her personality, she is lazy and jealous of Inglis's physical appearance. She wants to find a boyfriend but Inglis tends to attract most of the boy's attention. She is another parody-sue. Overpowered for comedic purposes. Inglis likes to duel with her but Yua is not interested, unless there is a price such as a handsome guy~
Silva. An upperclassman of Rafinha. He has a special-class rune. He is close to Ripple. He feels that runeless squires are not supposed to be fighting magicite beasts due to a tragic past he experienced. Not going to say much as it it spoilers for Volume 3.
Now to the holy knights:
Rafael. Elder brother of Rafinha. He has a special-class rune. He is partnered with the herial meance Eris. He tends to looks out for Rafinha and Inglis.
Captain of Royal Guard (I forgot his name). He is the older brother of Silva. He serves directly under the king. He is a big fan of Inglis. He is willing to give his position for Inglis. He is always looking out for Inglis, kinda like a stalker. Inglis find him annoying.
Hieral Menaces:
NOTE: Every hieral menace specialises in using a weapon. They can only transform into that weapon.
Eris. She specialises in using a sword. Partnered with Rafael. She is very quiet but very caring. Eris finds Inglis weird as Inglis enjoys duelling with her.
Ripple. She specialies in guns. She intends to be partnered with Silva. She is very caring towards Silva. She is a demi-human and tends to attract demi-humans magicite beasts.
Well both hieral menaces are nice people.
Now to the Steelbloods:
Leader of the Steelbloods. His identity has not been revealed. But he has aether, jsut like Inglis. He is much stronger than Inglis. Inglis wants to duel with him.
Sistia. A hieral menace of the Steelbloods. Not sure how she joined the Steelbloods. She is aware of Inglis's strength after their duel. Oh, she specials in spears.
Leon Olfa. Older brother of Leone. He is still looking out for his sister's safety. He can summon electric monsters. He is not an evil man at all. The main reason he join the Steelbloods is revealed in Volume 5.
Next, for the Highlanders:
Cyrene. Inglis and Rafinha met her during their mercenary job. Cyrene is a nice character who looks after humans and Rafinha likes her. Cyrene eventually got turned into a magicite beast by the Steelbloods. The Steelbloods leader eventually turned her into a small creature. She is currently Inglis's pet.
Cyrene's brother (I forgot his name). Another nice highlander who wants to give humanity more technology to fend for themselves. Is grateful towards Inglis and Ranfinha for saving his sister.
The other highlanders are evil and treats humans as domestic animals. Not going into the rest of them as there are heavy spoilers.
That sums up the important characters.
Who do I recommend this Light Novel to?
1) People who likes superpower.
2) Parody-sue protagonist, Inglis is similar to Saitama or Mob.
3) Cute girls kicking ass. Mainly for people who are tired of overpowered male characters.
People who dislikes overpowered characters should avoid this Light Novel.
Be careful of the slow start of this light novel. It starts off as a very generic fantasy adventure fiction.
My overall thoughts?
What I like:
1) Great world-building. I like how humanity has become slaves to highlanders to survive against magicite beasts attacks.
2) Great Comedy. Inglis and Yua are hilarious.
3) Great Plot twists. A lot of plot twists after Volume 3. The story becomes very dark at the end of Volume 4.
What I dislike:
1) RAFINHA. She is so cliche with her sense of justice.
2) Character designs. I don't like oversized chests.
3) Slow start. It starts off as a very generic adventure/fantasy fiction.
Hence, I give it a 6/10. I had some laughs at it. Especially with Inglis's dialogues. I will continue to read the light novel and update this review. If you are interested, I hope you enjoy this light novel! :)

"Does a country profit or loss from war?" - This is a debate in Altina The Sword Princess.
The story is set in Fantasy Europe, the technology is in the middle of the Industrial Revolution.
The main characters are in Belgarian Empire, which is based on France. They are constantly at war with its neighbours, they have the strongest military in the continent, but most of their generals are old and stick to obsolete tactics.
There is an archipelago in the West, known as High Brittania, which is based on United Kingdom, they have the strongest industries and most technological advanced as compared to the mainland.

fictional Holy Roman Empire, Austria in the east, you can easily guess the rest of the continent. I am too lazy to list out all of them. :P
There is a lot of politics involved, such as the period of Enlightenment and royal siblings fighting for the throne.
It is based on Revolutionary France. The Empire is in the decline due to many issues:
Political corruption. Wasteful spending from the Emperor's wife, she is an Austrian, similar to the real one, who is obsessed with wasteful spending and always trying to seduce the emperor.
Never ending wars with the neighbours. War costs money.
At that time, there are a lot of underground libertarians calling for revolution. The royal siblings are fighting for the throne.
Here are the characters:
Regis Aurick - The protagonist, a bookworm who joins the military to become a military librarian. He is an administrative officer who cannot fight at all, terrible at atheletics. But a great tactician. He is eventually sent to the German border due to a mistake.
Altina - The Fourth Princess of the Empire. She is good at fighting but dislikes books. In terms of combat, she is not as strong as the second and third Princess, but strong enough to cause havoc in the battlefield. However, she is very reckless and has the tendency to charge into the frontlines. She is sent to be in charge of defending the German border at the age of 13. Nobody respects her as a superior officer due to her lack of military experience. Altina is a good pacifist character.
Jerome - A veteran general who is guarding the German border, does not respect Altina initially. Respects Regis and eventually respects Altina later.
Auguste - Frist Prince. Most people thinks that he is unsuitale to be the next emperor due to his poor health. Not going to say much due to spoilers in Volume 3.
Latrielle - Second Prince. The Field Marshal of the Empire. One of Altina's political opponents. Is also a dictator, who believes in war, thinking the Belgarian (or France) should rule the continent, is aware of Regis's potential. He is most likely based on Napoleon or Hitler.
Bastian - Third Prince. Does not care about politics until his exchange in High Brittania (UK), he becomes a libertarian and supports democracy. He is good at fighting but has no interest in joining the military. He wants to be a writer. Well, his novels tend to be criticised by Elizabeth.
Felicia - Fifth Princess. Not going to say much about her due to spoilers in Volume 3.
Elizabeth - Princess of High Brittania. Bastian's classmate. Another pacifist trying to avoid war in the continent. She eventually becomes very close friends with Bastian and Altina.
The rest of the characters are not really important.
In this Light Novel, you will see Regis becoming Altina's tacticians and win battles even with technological/numerical disadvantage, he claims he obtained his tactics from books.
I recommend this light novel to people who likes:
1) 1700-1800s warfare.
2) 1700-1800s politics.
3) Intelligent but hilarious protagonist. People who enjoy Code Geass: Lelouch Of The Rebellion and Tenkyou No Alderamin.
Here my thought on it (As of Volume 14):
I enjoy Altina The Sword Princess but not as much as Tenkyou No Alderamin.
In Tenkyou No Alderamin, the plot is very unpredictable. In Altina The Sword Princess, plot can be predictable at times, we already knew Regis can pull it off but some of his military strategies are really interesting.
What I like:
1) Interesting military strategies. Creating a fog?
2) Some interesting plot twists later. Especially with Latrielle.
3) Altina and Eric shows character development. We see Altina develop from a reckless fighter to a mature leader. Eric becomes a great marksman.
4) Bastian and Elizabeth are very likeable. And hilarious at times.
5) Altina and Elizabeth are great pacifist characters.
What I dislike:
1) Plot can be predictable. Regis succeeds all the time.
As of right now, the writer is putting this light novel on hold to focus on another isekai light novel (which I do not like). My rating might change in the future.

Volume 12: Century Colours! Million Colours!
The writer, Bokuto Uno has to be a Gundam fan. >_>
I will write a better sypnosis for Tenkyou No Alderamin.
The story is set in India/Burma/Tibet. There are 3 countries, the Katjvarna Empire, the Aldera Holy Church and the Kioka Republic.
The Katjvarna Empire is currently in a losing war against the Kioka Republic, because the Empire is corrupted. Aldera Holy Church is considered neutral in the conflict.
The Katjvarna is ruled by an emperor, which is an absolute monarchy, the Kioka Republic is a democratic country. The Aldera Holy Church is the Vatican City State.
In this world, people owns pets known as

sprites, which helps them in their daily lives. There are 4 types of sprites: Light, Fire, Wind, Water. The Aldera Holy Church worships them.They are also used by the Empire and Republic as weapons of war.
The plot is set in the Empire.
A group of teenagers (Yatori, Torway, Matthew, Haro) are travelling to an island for their military examination. To attend the examination, they have to travel by ship. Yatori suddenly meets his long-lost childhood friend, Ikuta, who eventually says he has returned to abduct her.
Ikuta then joins the group in the boat. A shipwreck suddenly occur, which leads to a girl falling overboard. Ikuta saves the girl and she revealed to be the Chamile, the princess of the Empire. They were stranded in the Republic's territory. They eventually made it back to the Empire and became Chamille's knights.
Chamille noticed that Ikuta is an excellent tactician and asks him about the Empire's future. Ikuta replies that the Empire is hopeless and doomed to fall. Chamille then gives a Ikuta a new mission.
Climb the ranks of the military and intentionally loses this war.
I will now introduce the major characters:
Ikuta Solork/Sankrei - He is the lazy tactician who fights the war in a lazy and scientific method, calling his squad to be lazy and scientific to fight a war. He used to be in exile nad returns to abduct Yatori to Kioka Republic because he dislikes the Empire, thinking that it is hopeless to stay there. His childhood dream is to be a scientist, inspired by professor Anarai, who is a close friend of his father, Bada Sankrei. Bada Sankrei is considered a traitor and forces Ikuta and his mother to be in exile. His mother died and Ikuta survived with a hatred to the Empire. Before his mother's death, she told Ikuta to be lazy, not to join the military and joins up with his childhood friend, Yatori.
Yatorishino Igsem - She is the childhood friend of Ikuta. She is a noble of the Igsem household, who is famed for their dual swordsmanship and their service to the military. Her father is the Field Marshal of the Empire and is a close friend of Bada Sankrei. She is loyal to the Empire and joins the military as it is her duty for being part of Igsem clan.
Torway Remeon - A noble for the Remeon household, famed for their marksmanship. He is a nice guy who is afraid of shooting people in close range. Respects both Ikuta and Yatori. His father is a General of the Empire and has rivalry towards Yatori's father. His father is also a close friend of Bada Sankrei. Torway eventually becomes an elite sniper.
Princess Chamille - A princess of the Empire but grew up in the Republic. She is quite mature for her age and is aware that Empire is in ruins. She knows that Ikuta is a capable man and entrusts Ikuta with mission to fix the Empire. Not going to explain too much about her background as there will be spoilers for the plot twists later.
Matthew Tetdrich - A noble from the Tetdrich. However, the Tetdrich family is not as powerful as the Igsem or Remeon faction. They are neutral to the rivalry of the two factions. Matthew is not as talented as Ikuta, Yatori or Torway. But works hard to keep up with them. He eventually develops into a great military commander.
Haroma Bekkel - She claims to join the military to support her family. She becomes a medic. Not going to explain much as these are heavy spoilers for the plot twists in the second half of the Light Novel.
These are the the summary of the six major characters. Well, there are some more important characters such as professor Anarai, etc.
Who do I recommend this LN to?
1) Likes plot twists. Example: Code Geass: Lelouch Of The Rebellion, Mobile Fighter: G Gundam.
2) War Story. Example: The whole of Gundam outside Build Fighters and Build Divers.
If you are interested in the sypnosis I have written, feel free to pick the Light Novel up. :)
But do not get too attached to the characters, you can see other reviews when people take a break after Volume 7. The writer has the guts to kill off characters in the middle of the plot.
Here are my overall thoughts on it:
I had fun with it. This is not the type of Light Novel showing the protagonist outsmarting this opponents. This Light Novel shows that people are hurt when they lost their loved ones in a war. It focuses more on the horrors of war. There are no winners in a war, only victims are remained. I also enjoyed the number of plot twists throughout the LN. Do I have complaints? Yes, I do not understand why the writer made this type of ending, not going to explain too much due to spoilers.
What I like in this LN:
1) Plot twists
2) Character Development
3) Great Setting. I like war stories.
4) Good politics
5) Interesting military strategies.
What I dislike in this LN:
1) The ending.
Getting back on topic why I feel that the writer has to be a huge fan of Gundam.
Tenkyou No Alderamin shows the horrors of war which is exactly what Universal Century Gundam did. There are times it focuses on diplomacy, such as volume 11, Turn A Gundam is more focused on diplomacy to avoid a conflict. Volume 12 is when it explains the past and the Sprites, similar to Turn A Gundam explains why things like Ball and Zakus existed. Because war has always been occurring throughout history. Ikuta even asks "Can we stop fighting?", which means it also asks the question "Can there ever be true peace?".
