I'm not going to lie, when I first saw the title of the story- "I quit the going home club for a girl with a venomous tongue" I definitely raised an eyebrow. For some reason it's popular these days for light novels to have absurdly long titles, though the ones I read (mostly novels by Sugaru Miaki) tended to be on the short side, and I was therefore inherently prejudiced against the novel.
Even so, I decided to at least go through the rating and description, and it caught my eye. I assumed it wouldn't hurt to read a chapter or two. The story centers ... around two characters, Sakaki Sui, a slightly
eccentric high schooler who claims to be the proud member of the "going-home" club, and Hiwa Arina, the school's infamous venom tongued beauty.

As cliche or even borderline cringe the character introductions and descriptions may be at first, I genuinely found these characters to be well written. While at the beginning, the two barely could hold a meaningful conversation with another, much less aim towards the goal of improving Arina's behaviour, it is clear through their interactions that they both manage to influence each other. Sui no longer could rush home and laze around after school, as he now had to help Arina. And Arina too, although not initially welcoming of his assistance (which he was forced to do by a teacher), gradually began to open up more towards him (though if you're expecting her words to be any less harsh later on, you're going not going to be too pleased). Soon with his help, she manages to confront her darkest troubles. Their relationship gradually becomes something like a close friendship, and I think most people who enjoy coming of age stories and school-life stories would find it quite endearing. Of course, there are other characters besides these two who help them with that, and a lot more changes to add to the story, but I can't talk of that lest I wish to spoil a potential reader.

It's quite heart-warming to see how they shape each other's lives, the fun they had with their friends as they lead their ordinary school lives.Their experiences were a joy to watch, and I think the first 100 chapters or so of the manga are like this. Is the manga perfect? Well no, some chapters aren't quite as interesting as other chapters, but even so the story managed to consistently bring a grin to my face and I couldn't stop reading it. Also, I spoke of hundred chapters as if it were all the same, but of course the story too develops quite a bit. And that eventually leads to some major shifts in the plot a bit later, towards the end. This arc might seem abrupt to a lot of readers, and indeed it was, even for me as someone who genuinely loved the novel. The tone of the story changes significantly, and unfortunately for plot reasons I can't say much else about it, beside the fact that it becomes a bit melodramatic (though not necessarily in a bad sense). This change could probably be attributed to the fact that the author wanted this story to reach a more general audience, beside just the otaku community who might've only cared for the 'dere' aspect of the characters rather than anything deep or sentimental. And so in this respect we have a long arc that more or less takes up the last 15 chapters of the story, and then we are brought to the story's conclusion in final two chapters.

I would have never imagined myself tearing up to the story back when I first read it, as I thought it was just a light-hearted coming of age story. But, after reading through the last two chapters, particularly chapter 137- the final chapter (though that number probably depends on your website & the translator, dunno why MAL has it as 7) I couldn't help but cry. The tears flew down harder than when I read any novel before, even more than Clannad after story. **I'm not saying this to tell you that it's a sad story or a sad ending. In many ways, it's a great ending, one could certainly describe it as a happy one**, despite that I wasn't surprised to find that majority of readers found it to be quite melancholic too. It's up to the reader's interpretation though. Looking back on it, the ending was indeed pretty amazing a conclusion to this beautiful story. Probably what confirmed it to be a masterpiece in my mind. I am glad I read this novel because it is at its core a very heart-warming story, filled to the brim with great character development and interactions, and so overall, I don't really have much to complain.

Yagate Kimi Ni Naru (manga)- 10/10
I'll try to keep my review short. I accidentally stumbled upon the anime as I was scrolling through some list of anime's sort on the basis of year, genre, season. It seemed very interesting, and as someone who's only seen romantic shows with heterosexual characters I thought this would definitely be a fresh of breath air. I have seen other Yuri shows since then, but both the manga and the anime hold a special place in my heart (I didn't make a review for the anime and so I decided to mention it as well)
The anime covered about 25 chapters ... in the manga. The ending felt incomplete as there was still a lot more things that could've gone on in their relationship. So, I decided to read the manga, and well I'm so glad I did. It's in many respects even better than the anime (though it was a near perfect adaptation). The following arcs were just very beautiful, but my favorite was chapter 40. If you know, then you know ;. The ending was just amazing. The series as a whole? I'd have to use a million different superlatives to describe what my emotions were reading this, so I'm just gonna call it perfect. Thank you for reading, and this is my first manga review :)

Great anime. And an even better season than the first one. The story as well as the music vastly improved, the art also improved quite nicely too and it was nice to see a newer design for Hachiman and the other characters. Won't go into any spoilers but this season had a lot more character drama than the previous one, which might be kinda polarizing (I personally found it very good though). The best thing is the music though... Yukino and Yui's solo ballade renditions were just amazing. Sad that it only featured occasionally as the ending theme, though the mix is also pretty amazing.

First off, this was probably one of the most confusing and complicated plots I've ever seen in an anime film, and the good thing about this one is that it doesn't execute it badly, or let it ruin the atmosphere of the movie. "Rascal does not dream of dreaming girl" is one of those rare animes with time travel, supernatural elements wacky quantum physics which executes it spectacularly. From start to finish the movie was basically a ride of emotions the whole way through. The movie started off where the anime left but had all the great elements that made the first season so ... good. The story of the two Shoko's and the relationship between Mai and Sakuta all tugged at the heartstrings. And much like the of season, the adolescent syndrome leads to a lot of trouble in the lives of the main characters. Except, now we're shown how it all started in the first place, and it's a very emotional one (there's the full LN version of the story on youtube, it's a great watch and tells the whole story between Sakuta and Shoko https://youtu.be/Nzt_H4YWgXQ )
I really enjoyed Shoko's character and the beautiful exposition of her life.
The movie evens philosophical in many points, and Shoko's story gives a glimpse of our own mortality, and the absurdity in living for a non-existent future (kind of similar to kimi no suizou wou tabetai). I personally really enjoyed the romance between Mai and Sakuta as well (ﾉ◕ヮ◕)ﾉ*:✧
beautiful soundtrack, and art as well (though not the best feature the movie has to offer).

10/10 I would recommend it to everyone who liked the original series, this one's even better ;)

Beautiful movie. Every aspect of it is just so gorgeous, even the plot *mild spoilers ahead* which is quite simple in nature; a romance story between a student and an older woman is expressed so breathtakingly. I think there were probably more background sounds, and music than there was actual dialogue. In many parts, there was long silence too, which really helped to build the atmosphere of the movie imo.
The plot didn't really rely on a lot of exposition or complex storylines, it was quite simplistic. In fact, very little was actually said about the past life of the characters or their family, the ... movie left all of that up to the viewer. Instead, Shinkai crafted a story so genuine and realistic that it made it much more memorable than all of those romantic animes with supernatural/science fiction elements. The soundtrack was great and matched the peaceful atmosphere of the movie.
And the art. Where do I even begin? From start to finish the artwork in the movie was just stunning. I would probably rate this 10/10 just for the artwork alone, especially considering that this was a movie made 8 years ago (most anime shows even the more recent ones aren't so beautifully drawn, it's amazing how the movie makers managed to make such a masterpiece)
Anyways, I think I'm running out of superlative words to use to describe the movie so that's about it ;)

I would recommend everyone who's into romantic anime or just wants to see amazingly drawn animation

"Rascal does not dream of bunny girl senpai" is one of those anime shows (kind of like "I want to eat your pancreas") which has an extremely intriguing and clickbaity title.

(or not) the story quite obviously has nothing to do with the title at all. Instead, it was a rather touching story about adolescents dealing with the problems of their age, exaggerated to a slight bit for the story. The artwork was great, and the characters were very likable and their relationship's were quite well written. The soundtrack was great too. Overall a great anime, definitely recommend it if you liked shows like ... haruhi suzumiya :)

Watching this movie made me extremely sad. And happy at the same time, to see how it all unfolded. This wasn't the movie one would expect from the title "I want to eat your pancreas" but damn is it amazing.
The story is very intriguing and awesome, but my biggest take away from the film was of the sheer absurdity of our own existence. We all know we'll die someday, and yet we make no attempts at making the best out of our lives, none at fixing any real purpose for ourselves.
As someone who's not a stranger to nihilistic thoughts, this movie offered me ... a very real and haunting perspective. Instead of going at the whole situation as a romance movie with a character who's terminally ill, the film finds it more important to discuss the philosophical implications of this. Some in the reviews said the film offers no real questions at all, and is merely just for those unaware of their own mortality. I find this to be false.
The meaning of the story is closely interlinked with Sakura's own search of purpose in her fleetingly short life. It manages to explore this, and her view that one only really begins to live when they've formed a bond or connection gives me Hegel vibes lol. The movie and Sakura's story of finding a purpose as a whole is something that quite deeply resonates with me, and I can't think of anything more to say. It was absolutely amazing. Nothing more nothing less than a beautiful view. Oops wrong movie 😂

This was Makoto Shinkai's first movie after the classic "your name", so it wouldn't be surprising if he had found himself pressured by the expectations of his fans, and the anime community at large. I'll be upfront about it, when I watched the movie for the first time I was extremely disappointed with it, I probably would've given it a 4/10 if I'd written this review then. But overtime as I read more into the story and message it was trying to convey, I found that it wasn't that bad after all. The art is quite fascinating and almost seems better than it's predecessor at ... times, though there unfortunately aren't as many 4K hd wallpaper worthy scenes as there are in "your name", though that's probably an extremely high bar to begin with.
The soundtrack is probably, the best thing about the movie, and Radwimps made an absolutely awesome soundtrack for a Shinkai film **again**.
The music matches quite well with the movie, and I really enjoyed it.

However, when it comes to the plot as well as the characters I had a lot more problems. The characters felt less likeable compared to "your name" and I know even though I shouldn't be making such a comparison, it was inevitable that I would get disappointed in that regard since I watched this right after watching "your name". Still, the relationship between the two is quite beautiful, and the ending was quite nice. But I wasn't a big fan of the plot at all, and the supernatural elements with no apparent logical reasoning behind them pulled me away from really enjoying the film.
However the story probes some very interesting philosophical questions, into the nature of our life, our purpose and also tries to discuss depression.
I think the movie is awesome, and you should watch if you're a Shinkai fan, though it is entirely different from Kimi no nawa, so don't have high hopes of seeing the same kind of movie as that :)

This anime is just amazing. It's like a better and much more realistic version of death note. No supernatural powers required. Just Johan.
The op and eds were quite good, the eds sounded a bit creepy at first, (the animation in the background didn't help) but it grew on me quite well overtime. I particularly liked "make it home" and the other one with the line "for the love of life, there's a trade off..."
The story is so complex and well expressed that I'm still thinking of all the interesting because in the anime that I missed. Dr Tenma is extremely likeable, so are the rest ... of the characters a̶n̶d̶ ̶J̶o̶h̶a̶n̶ ̶i̶s̶ ̶a̶ ̶c̶u̶t̶e̶ ̶w̶a̶i̶f̶u̶.
The art is a bit old, and It may be the only real downside to the entire story that I can think of.
The show is very long, but it to me, never left like a drag. Even the filled episodes where we don't see much of Tenma felt complete in their own right.
Definitely watch this show, if you liked death note or other similar mystery and crime anime's.

Verdict:
Urasawa is too underrated.

An absolutely amazing movie, probably Shinkai's best movie.
The landscape art and character design were quite breathtaking,
It's quite rare to see such beautifully drawn scenes, even down to the finest details like shadows of certain structures, or reflections. The art itself would probably make this movie worth watching, but as if it weren't enough it also happened to have a melancholic plot, with very sympathizable characters.
The relationship between the two characters was rather thrilling of a journey to witness, Shinkai somehow knows exactly to pull most of our heart strings. Anyone who hasn't seen it yet should absolutely see this movie. And as though all ... this weren't enough the soundtrack, by Radwimps made it just about perfect. It's something I listen to a lot, even though I generally prefer more metal tracks.

The only thing I found mildly frustrating was some of the plot holes, especially the different-timezone-paradox, though the rest of the movie more than makes up for it.
Either way it's an absolutely amazing watch, and this is certainly one of the best anime films I've seen.
