Yeah, I read light novel and manga for it. It's interesting but I still prefer the anime. I KNOW people like Light novel more and I know that it's usually "Light novel conveys more emotions or thoughts about the characters or has more details" etc., but for me, I like the anime more because I can understand how characters feel more via their voice acting and animations, actions that they do on screen. The OST is also really big factor because it puts you in the atmosphere of the scene. Whenever I was reading the LN, I kept imagining that one song from the anime whenever something dramatic would happen.
As for the masterpiece or not, I honestly don't really care about the ratings for the manga or light novels, because I don't read that many so I can't judge them. I only read manga if the anime doesn't have the continuation or if I'm really interested in that story or series. While reading the light novel, I didn't feel TOO immersed in the story like I was when I watched the anime, but it's just a personal taste I guess. If you enjoyed the Light novel then nice, you can complete the first novel and go on the 2nd one while enjoying the series. ^^
Nice. Sister's arc was pretty good, as well as Daihasei Festival. I really like first arc of Railgun because it introduced me to the series and it was the first arc that I watched so I remember a lot from it.
