Both start out innocently enough, and then go into WTF territory. Both are strange and random and not meant for kids, despite appearances. Shinobu actually reminds me of Sherlock (even the same color hair!).

Girls & Panzer
add

Both involve moe girls in a military setting. Strike Witches contains fanservice and poignant moments. On the other hand, Girls und Panzer has a happier, lighter mood, and slice-of-life feel. Strike Witches is based on real WWII planes and takes place in the air. Girls und Panzer involves WWII tanks on the ground. The fights in Strike Witches are quick and graceful, while the battles in Girls und Panzer are long and strategic. Both have great action and cute, funny moments. Strike Witches tells the story of a war to save the planet from alien ships. Girls und Panzer is a competition between schools. The main characters are similar because they both are opposed to fighting at first, until their comrades pull them in.

Same studio, same director. Both involve a class of eccentric students, and both series contain a TON of Japanese culture references and parodies in every episode. Also, very fast-paced.

GA: Geijutsuka Art Design Class
add

Both are slice-of-life anime about art students in high school. The only real difference I can think of is that GA is much more focused on art, and therefore you may miss some of the jokes if you aren't familiar with drawing or painting, while Hidamari is aimed more towards the general audience, but is less focused on the "art" aspect.

Ga-Rei: Zero
add

Both fall under the horror/action genre and contain extreme violence with female lead characters who have supernatural powers. Elfen Lied is more ecchi (contains nudity) and comedic (in a good way) than Ga-Rei -Zero-, but did I mention that they both have a shocking first episode?

Canaan

Both produced by TYPE-MOON. The character designs of Shiki and Canaan are VERY similar -- they even both have special abilities using their eyes! Also, both anime contain lots of blood and very stylized fights (jumping from rooftops, etc.). Although, Shiki uses a knife and Canaan uses a gun.

An over-the top comedy about a lively girl who goes to great lengths to win the affection of a boy she falls in love with at first sight. Both anime involve school life, weird gadgets/unnatural powers, and lots of crazy fanservice.

Lucky☆Star
add

In my eyes, Lucky Star is KyoAni's version of SHAFT's Hidamari Sketch. The main characters in both animes have similar personalities (the tomboyish Miyako is like Konata; Sae/Kagami; Hiro/Miyuki; Yuno/Tsukasa; and their sensei both act childish). Episodes consist of random but amusing talk about everyday life things and Japanese culture and an occasional reference to another anime (though unlike Hidamari, parody is one of the central themes in LS). Lucky Star was made specifically for the otaku and its pace is much more frantic than the laid back Hidamari. Nonetheless, when watching, you can’t help but notice that these two animes feel very much the same. Therefore, if you enjoyed one, you should like the other.

Renkin San-kyuu Magical? Pokaan
add

These anime are about a band of girls going on various adventures, though things don’t always go as well as planned. Also, the girls are really attracted to guys and like to fight over them. Magipoka could be considered fantasy, while Galaxy Angel is sci-fi. Both are very cute and funny, so you can't go wrong with either. The personalities of the characters also mirror each other: Liru = Forte (tomboyish and has the hots for men), Pachira = Mint (egotistic and sometimes plays tricks on the other girls), Yuuma = Milfeulle (happy-go-lucky, but somewhat airheaded), Aiko = Normad?? (I dunno, they’re both robots and tend to receive the short end of the stick.)

Negima!?
add

Because they are both directed by Akiyuki Shinbo and produced by studio SHAFT, they are very similar in style. -MOON PHASE- has a young girl who makes a pact with an older guy and the story focuses on vampires. In Negima!?, it's a young male who makes pacts with his older female students, there’s only one vampire, and emphasis is put most on the magical incantations. However, each series shares similar elements and has a serious gothic tone; yet at times they can be very cute and even slightly romantic. Not to mention both are VERY funny! In fact, the running gag with the falling pan from -MOON PHASE- occurs a few times in Negima!?

Dai Mahou Touge
add

Besides the obvious similarity -- blonde haired, green-eyed bishes that know how to kick butt when the situation calls for it -- in both these series, cute equals deadly. Random, unearthly occurrences abound and the iconic innocent-to-serious face changes from Excel Saga, if you like pain stirred in with your cute, you can’t go wrong with Dai Mahou Touge.

DearS
add

Both of these anime are very similar; in fact, the first few episodes almost seem the same. Basically, a man living on his own comes across a beautiful non-human girl and is forced to take care of her. In the meantime, she learns to adapt with the human lifestyle and culture in a VERY humorous way. I would say the main difference between the two series is that DearS is about an alien and has more perverted situations than Chobits (although both of these anime are infamously ecchi), and Chobits is about a robot and has a much deeper plot to it. I liked Chobits way more, but if you enjoyed one of these series, than the other is worth checking out, just for the fact that they are so similar in story and comedy.

Lucky☆Star

Both animes are about a group of normal (or not so normal) girls just trying to make their way through high school. These series have lots of running gags and clever one-liners that you'll come to remember them for. While Lucky Star is more for the otakus since it contains lots of references to other anime and Japanese culture, both contain characters you will fall in love with and will make you look at school and life in general in a humorous type of way.

These two series are filled with side-splitting hilarity and randomness. It’s basically impossible to predict what will happen next in these crazy worlds, because they break all rules and logic of your standard anime. Hilarious events occur that you'll remember for months, if not years.
