Claymore and D.Gray-man are both unique animes that feature very dark and gory storylines. The main plot consists of the MC(Main Character) traveling around the world/land with friends or supporters in search of man-eating demons/monsters that terrorize villages and cities. The MCs of both series belong to an organization which although has mysterious roots is devoted to the eradication of the man-eating monsters and oversees the dispatching of the "monster hunters".Those belonging to these organizations in both series face discrimination, hate, and are viewed as being as bad as the monsters most of the time although they are fighting for the people The monsters depicted in both are also very familiar in the ways they blend into society. Claymore features and almost all female character list and makes use of that wide range of characters from showing backstories and developing their characters to side with the MC. Claymore depicts way more blood, violence, and death than D.Gray-man and has a very dark and shady art style. D.Gray-man is a longer running anime and has elements of comedy and characters that use various weapons to fight these monsters, unlike in claymore where everyone used the same type of weapon to fight. Personally, I was not ready for the blood and gore shown in Claymore but I grew to love the characters and storyline and by the end of the season it left me with a burning hunger for a second season, which unfortunately was not produced. (This is my first recommendation, sorry for any mistakes I have made)
