I've never experienced a show that had so much going for it and fail so miserably. Apparently the source material is amazing, which is why there was a decent amount of hype for this anime, but that makes it all the more confusing as to why this ended up being such a disaster.

It did start off okay, and then after 3 or so minutes the story...it just took off.

Story:
Things happen at such a breakneck speed that you cannot connect or invest any sort of feeling towards what's happening. Ernesti, our leading man, learns everything within seconds. There's no struggle, there's no dramatic storytelling, there's ... nothing. A problem happens and it gets solved within two seconds of it being revealed. Then the narrator tells us that two months have passed since then.

Had they slowed things down, the show would have been better.

Character
Since the story moves at a pace that would make Usain Bolt jealous, you can't really get much of a feel for the characters. Ernesti is the most developed, but even he feels lacking. Everyone has their trope and they stick to it. Things happen to them, but why worry or care when it will be solved within seconds.

At this point you might be asking yourself, "MonoJumal, you're exaggerating about the two seconds." But I'm not.

Unfortunately, this really ruins the show for me. It has a lot of potential and the source material is good (allegedly), but the studio seemed to care more about the mechs fighting and less about the ways to tell a story.

The first couple of episode set the scene of a battle royale/lord of the flies type show, where the prisoners are brought to an uninhabited land where they have to learn to live and defend themselves from giant purple monsters. There's suppose to be a mystery here along with proper tension between the prisoners, who are all criminals.

But there's none of that.

Sadly, the story doesn't make sense, the characters are never developed, and the ending is a cliffhanger. A cliffhanger, when we already don't know anything that's going on and don't really care about things.

Bloodivores is a huge disappointment. Not good at all, which is ... a shame since this did have potential to be a great show.
