Both seem very confusing at first by adding a whole lot of characters that don't seem important and very random. After a few episodes, the pieces come together. They also have a lot of violence and a supernatural aspect.

Both have a normal boy who learns the main girl's secret. (In Onegai Teacher she's an alien, and in Seto no Hanayome she's a mermaid.) After learning this, they have to get married. Both are supernatural and funny.
