Interesting that you have Gyo in your favourites. It's an unfinished manga. I would have liked to see it continue, but I guess we are past that point. The anime film is very bad, generic Hollywood style script.

I know it's a coincidence, but yesterday I was thinking about this manga, and today I saw it in your favourite section while browsing my friends list's friends' lists.

Joe's behavior and personality early on in the series definitely made for a very frustrating experience but it doesnt feel tacked on, you can 100% see how a person like that could exist irl so that's what makes it so effective alongside his overall growth not being on your face since you can still see remnants of the person he used to be alongside his now more traumatized or experienced actions, which now carries onto his self-destructive obsession with boxing, despite i also liking a lot of the other characters they really feel like they're mostly there to enhance Joe's story more than anything which is fair.




Megalo Box season 1 is overall pretty mediocre and a lot of the good stuff is just borrowed from Ashita no Joe, doesnt do much with its setting either, the first two episodes are kind of the best this first season has to offer so if you didnt like that i doubt you will enjoy the rest, funny thing is that season 2 already presented a major improvement just in the first few episodes i watched but i havent looked at it in at least a year now and dont really plan on coming back to see the rest of it anytime soon so there's that but it was way more enjoyable than season 1 from what i saw.
