I don't think it's a bad thing to enjoy anime or manga or whatever. However, I am absolutely in the closet about it. I'm sure some people can relate.
I have friends that are obsessed, and they give me recommendations, to which I absolutely read and give my feedback. In general, I just like to read.
I think I'm in the closet about enjoying what I do thanks to my peculiar tastes. I'm sure even more people can relate to that.
I made this account so I could leave reviews for future people like me. Warnings I would have liked to receive for myself without spoilage.
If you'd like to leave me a recommendation, I'd love that. I'm constantly looking for:
romance/comedy. . but see, I'm quite particular. It has to be completed. I don't like love triangles unless it's very obvious that the main couple will stay together. I don't like reading 280 chapters waiting for nothing to happen. I don't like bad endings. I don't like tragedy. I'm picky with art style. My favorite thing to come across is seeing people actually get together, then seeing them go through shenanigans as a couple, and proceeding to show them in the future. I'm perfectly fine if it's short and it takes them about 20ish chapters to get together, but I'd still like info on them in the future.
I also really hate when it's near the end, and they put in the most POINTLESS chapters to fill and waste your time. Like one last "hoorah!!" of a love triangle for no reason. Why? Why make me read something that will only make me upset? We want the characters we're attached to to be happy. Well, maybe that's only me and a few others or something, but still..
I'm really kind of over the cliche crap people keep doing. You know the things- random childhood friend reappears totally in love with MC
MC is a gigantic cry baby
Valentines day goes horribly wrong
you get the idea..
thanks to this, I read a lot of yaoi as well. for some reason yaoi and even yuri manga that I've discovered seem to have better plots. I'm not saying that a lot of them aren't trash, or sex filled craziness, but at least some are unique. although, there are definitely hidden gems within the romance world too, it's just that I'm so gosh darn picky AGH!
Of course I have read and watched other genres. I do find, however, if you try to recommend me any anime, it usually gives me anxiety to watch. So I do better if it's something light hearted or well, just something that doesn't give me stress. How do I define that stress? Well, I can't. Hahahaha
Like most others, I started off watching while young. I had no idea Inuyasha was anime, and had no idea what anime was. My family thought it was weird that their child wanted to stay awake and watch the same few episodes every weeknight, but whatever.
I think we're all a little bias with what we started on, that's all I'm saying. If you took the time to read/watch it, you're probably thinking I'm a hypocrite. Inuyasha has one of the worst love triangles, but hear me out!!
(Spoilers)
Kikyo was basically a zombie guys, c'mon. . Koga never had a chance with Kagome and neither did whatever his name was at school. I'm also kind of a hypocrite because they took 3 billion episodes to realize their feelings, BUT!! I actually really liked most of the filler for inuyasha. I only skip a few episodes when/if I rewatch, but most of the side characters are cool! They just.. Need to maybe not be lazy with wearing the same outfits all of the time LOL.
(Spoilers over)
See, I talk too much, and no one is probably going to read this aside from me, but I don't care LOL. I still have more to say.
I find a few hidden gems here and there. As one does when going through the endless piles of this stuffs, but then I go back and find my opinion of it does not hold up. Why do my standards keep getting raised higher and higher!??
Lovely Complex for example, I literally made this account to go write a review on it. Lovely Complex I think is good for beginners, and people who want the not so heavy relationship drama. When I first watched it, I was a novice. Watching everything romance related I could find. Then I found out it had a manga, and I read that. Totally satisfied I thought it was the best thing ever. Now I know.. It's really, well, sub-par. The romance is better between the side characters, and the "comedy" is just really not that funny. At the time, I really had no experience. The only thing I knew was that the worst anime ever was Vampire Knight. (WATCHED IT AND HATED IT! SORRY!)
A few favorites & Why:
Puchitto Hajiketa - I always love this one. It gives me such a giddy feeling of true love, I literally just can't resist cooing at it. It's like fate done right without the fate, because they truly worked hard at loving each other.
Beauty Pop - Cliche, and the female doesn't really have an expression, but it's kind of enjoyable. However, it's not super satisfying in the end. If you've read it, you might understand. I have read it twice though, and I do enjoy the read regardless.
Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun - See, I want to add this one. I truly do, because the concept is great, but it's also so INFURIATING. One second the MC girl has emotions, and is moving forward, but the next second we're starting all over. Still funny though.
Horimiya - I'm adding this to the list despite thinking that it doesn't need as many chapters as it has. I know, we all love them and want to keep them around as much as possible, but at some point the characters feel like they lose personality to me. Especially miyamura. The only time he ever shows any major emotion in the end is when he's around his best friend that infuriates him. I really hated whenever they made Miyamura's style choice because he was needing a way to take his stress out. He seemed like the confident type in being who he was with everything on, and I liked that. Then he just, "didn't need it anymore." Which is fine. Good for you with your mental health, but it's kind of bashing on the confidence he originally had with it. Also, the ending sucked? We didn't get to see them, but we kind of did at the same time. Everything was just kind of up in the air.
Some of the hidden gems I need to reread are:
Beast Master - I feel like I really enjoyed it.
Strange Dragon - I feel like I also really enjoyed this.
Ouran High School Host Club - Doesn't this take 100 years to go on, and it's a weird harem, AND the main character doesn't change much?? I don't know, but maybe I enjoyed it. Or maybe I just told myself I did..
Faster Than A Kiss - I feel like I really enjoyed this. We'll see.
Kamisama Hajimemashita - The couple definitely felt like they would end up together, and I truly enjoyed one of the characters. I like the outcome of everything that happened, but I don't remember what exactly happened with what's her face in the end. LOL Nanami!! Yeah!
There are so many manga that I've read that I probably couldn't find it all if I wanted to. I spam through 60+ chapters in 24 hours, and still finish my daily life tasks like work, and time with the boyfriend. I typically just look up
romance
comedy
completed
no tragedy
LOL.. it works, it works. sometimes. anyway, I'm extremely tired and unsatisfied from reading lovely complex for the first time in many many years. I truly hope to find more hidden gems and remember ones that I've enjoyed. <3 I look forward to writing very opinionated reviews.
