What does it mean to be human? What is good and evil? Why is it so difficult to answer these questions? Parasyte is a show which questioned our humanity and our morality. But the answer is something we have to decide for ourselves in the end.
While we sit in our armchair, typing our arguments to a hypothetical situation which is extremely unlikely, i.e. the trolley problem, Izumi Shinichi is subjected to such moral dilemma, whether it is ok to kill, humans or parasytes. While we have all the time in the world, he did not have such luxury and had to decide for himself.

I merely started watching it purely for the umbrella scene. It had been over 12 years since it's release and the fact that I haven't been spoiled of it's content is somewhat a miracle. I am just glad I got to watch this show completely blind.
The concept of the story is great with many hints leading to a bigger plotline which ended up being revealed as "another student who shouldn't be there, is there."
