A manga adaptation for the very first arc for two series of Ryukishi07's "when they cry" visual novels. Mystery + Horror elements combined with a feel of unpredictably and a similar art style allow for Umineko and Higurashi to feel intertwined in a way and usually if you like one, you'll like the other.

A children cast in a dark, yet unique setting with an subtle emphasis on the fact that there are 2 "beings" in the world. Demons + Children and Shadows + Children which I found to be interesting. As a bonus fun fact: Both have (/will have) anime adaptations by Cloverworks studio.

Inclusion of "another world" of some sort featuring a female main cast and just in general, a female dominant cast. Both contain unique concepts and creatures that are not only keep the series more memorable but add to the story itself.

Volleyball anime that focus on two main characters who aren't exactly the same. Although Harukana is beach, they give off a similar feeling at times. When it comes to antagonists/opponents, it's very skilled in terms of making you care for them just as much as the main characters.

Gintama. Porori-hen
|
Gintama's "Porori-hen/Slip arc" can be compared and give off similarities to Koyomimonogatari as in both of these can be viewed as more "filler-like" compared to the actual series (Gintama/Monogatari) and feel more like nice little side stories that aren't a necessity. (The last 2 episodes of Koyomi are recommended though) A fairly large amount of the cast from previous seasons are shown which can increase enjoyment if you are a fan of the series.

Dialogue heavy with focus on the mystery genre. Rather than focusing on one mystery/case it tends to be an episodic style that does one per episode (Hyouka changes a bit later though) Shaft and Kyoto Animation both animate these really nicely as well.

Doraemon (2005)

Gintama and Doraemon are both long running series with lots of comedy focused episodes usually with an episodic style. The stories both start out with an iconic meeting with the multiple main character (s) and from there on, the lives of the characters are never the same. Whether it's a spooky episode, a weirder episode, an episode that gives off nostalgia, the episodic + long running style allows these to pretty much have anything and everything. As a bonus, Gintama also has multiple doraemon references so there's that.

JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken Part 3: Stardust Crusaders

This might seem like a weird comparison but they reminded me of each other multiple times due to the formula that both series follow. They are both "monster of the week" style anime where each episode can feel like it's own story but although it follows the monster of the week style, there is still a main end game goal and they are always progressing and never lose sight of what they wanna accomplish. They both start out with the main protagonist meeting an individual (or individuals) at the very start and from there, the basic formula kicks in. These two can do a very good job at balancing wide variety of tones and emotions such as making you laugh, making you feel emotional ,having hype scenes, etc. with memorable art styles and memorable characters through a relatively long but memorable journey along the way.
