I've never played cyberpunk in video game or table top form but after this I'm going to. I was so enthralled from the first episode, the vibes, shots/animation, music, were all immaculate. It all made night city really pop and added extra weight to the world.
There's plenty of things this could have done better with certain characters, interactions, plot points, and pacing. But if you are willing to let yourself be taken for a ride this will surly deliver. For me the predictable elements made the tragic moments even more tragic since I grew attached to these characters. a longer run time but what it manages to do in 10 episodes is still impressive.
"Why would you work to achieve her dream" and "you need to find your own dream" two quotes from early on that stuck with me. I wanted nothing more than for these characters to live their own dreams. This is where the strength of the show showed for me, these desires what made them human and what made them not.
Given all the flaws, my rating 8/10 is based on my overall enjoyment of the show.
(This show made me post a review, which I haven't done before)
Spoiler p.s: I feel like the cyberpunk element really separates this from any comparisons to akame ga kill. All the moments that could be campaired feel like they have a greater weight and impact on the development of the MC
