I really enjoyed Carole and Tuesday. It was a very sweet story of two innocent girls passionate about music.
A few minor problems I found were that it was often too easy for them to move up, everything seemed to fall into their laps, even the times when the show was trying to making it seem like it wasn't.
There was also a sort of political part in the background between Mars and Earth which felt a little bit forced or just put in there but that side storyline really wasn't very interesting up to the end.
Finally, the last problem was the animation during
...
the songs and the songs themselves. Most of the songs or almost all of them weren't very interesting and when I saw a reaction from a crowd I was sometimes confused because a lot of the times the reaction was positive when I thought it should've been negative. They focused on quantity for the songs which I think was a bad decision since I don't really remember a single memorable song except for "Move Mountains" which didn't really sound good anyway. The lyrics and lip syncing and instrumentals were just not very good. Picking a few good songs would've been a much better choice than having a song for every minor character or constantly having the main characters sing different songs which more or less sound the same as their others or sound like a really shallow take on a genre.
Even though all of this makes it seem like a mediocre anime, what the show does very well is it's pacing, always introducing new things into the story. At it's core, i think Carole and Tuesday is a really basic show and not very deep but the characters and circumstances are colorful and fun enough to warrant a watch, you just have to shut off your analytical side a little bit and see if you can enjoy it for what it is.

The manga for We Never Learn is much better. The pacing and art of the Manga is top class, making the somewhat frivolous story into something really interesting. The Anime moves too fast and ends up feeling like a generic harem which wasn't the same impression I had while reading the Manga. Another big problem though it seems kind of small is that the hair color really doesn't fit in the world at all. Seeing the teacher, Kirisu with pink hair ruined her character a bit. It feels like a very watered down experience and if I didn't originally read the Manga I'm
...
pretty sure I'd drop this show at episode 1.

I just finished and I REALLY want a sequel. This show was such a smooth ride throughout, always filled with action and really nice art thanks to this nice special effect that's on throughout the entire show that's akin to slight chalk covering the screen. The main character is also a badass throughout the show and is someone you can really get behind because his motivation to do battle isn't too convoluted and develops throughout the show without losing its essence. The other characters are also mostly good and all of them become likeable to some extent by the end of their arcs/lives. It's a
...
bit unrealistic the way that our MC just mows throughout people but it's also satisfying like playing Dynasty Warriors. There are very few instances, if at all, of anything like "powers" and is usually just swordplay or strategy.
This anime keeps things simple with little in pondering of trauma of killing someone or atrocities war, which makes for portraying a very specific incident in a highly satisfying and fulfilling way. Highly recommend. Would binge again/10.

Grand Blue is a comedy anime about diving, and drinking and college, though mostly the latter two. I'd read the manga first and thought it was hilarious and high quality and in particular thought the facial expressions were funny and really added to a punchline or a comedic back and forth. The anime doesn't disappoint either and has good music and the same funny jokes and gags which usually involve stripping down which I found original. There are also the standard but always good misunderstanding humor. The anime lacks any real substance story or character wise and the jokes themselves can feel somewhat safe or
...
basic but it's still a fun show that manages to be funny which is no small feat in a culture that seems to have eschewed or replaced comedy with ecchi and moe.

Visually I found Ajin to be alright. I found it to be much more watchable then something like Kingdom or the second season of Berserk. The 3d graphics may not be for everyone but personally I think its better than the very basic art styles in some anime like Charlotte or Handa-kun (just remembering what I recently watched) which even with the basic art styles still end up being interesting enough. What is more important is the pacing and how an anime keeps your attention.
How Ajin keeps your attention is through it's constant action. In nearly every episode, especially in the second season, there
...
is always some sort of battle or physical conflict. Every episode is adrenaline pumping action. The drawback to this approach is that character development and sometimes story believability is compromised. Characters can seem very overpowered for no reason, and most only do actions that further action and conflict without considering different solutions. The show attempts to explore the psyche of the MC but they go in different directions and really trip over themselves in the attempt but try at the very end to somehow tie everything together. This is NOT a show for delving into the psychological or philosophical aspects of being an Ajin. Try to imagine Shiki but with less of the philosophical aspects and more of the rampant violence and this is basically what you'll get with this show. In Shiki as well, you kind of get an idea of why vampires and non-vampires might hate each other or try to get rid of the other. In Ajin, it's never really made entirely clear why people accept the treatment the Ajin get. The show tries to explain it off in a sort of contradictory way that simultaneously the people know what happens to Ajin through like the dark web or a silent unspoken acknowledgment that they get experimented but at the same time the people won't do anything about it and if asked publicly they'll pretend that all that stuff is a rumor and that Ajin are actually "protected" by the government. Again, this stuff makes it easy to have an Ajin against the world type scenario and leads to some nice action and chase scenes but the explanation is not very realistic. Yes, it's possible that some people may not care what happens to Ajin but in the show it feels like EVERYONE does not give a care about the Ajin or are strangely ignorant to what happens even when it's obvious. One last point/fault with the story is that the lore of the Ajin is not sufficiently explored. The basics about the powers are explained, but by the end of the show, I didn't get any understanding of how became Ajin or anything of that sort, which was a bit disappointing as that was one of the things I wanted to know when starting the series.
To sum it all up : action, action, action. It's filled to the brim with action and if you're looking for that type of show and don't want a standard shounen with laser beams and gomu gomu, this is it.

This is a really tiring movie. The art felt like looking through church stained glass at times, or too bright and effect heavy. The music sounded like Akira Koresuma’s piano pieces, very minimalistic but atmospheric, and at the climax of the story, the music really worked, and really, was probably THE highlight of an entirely highlighted movie. But, like the art, there was a bit too much tension. Really though, at times, the art and music transcended anything I’ve ever heard and or seen in an anime, so they’re definitely not bad by themselves, I just didn’t think it was too sustainable for the whole
...
movie.
The characters and story are the most important part of this movie and the premise is probably the reason why most people consider even watching it in the first place. And the characters and story follow the premise very closely. The MC bullies the deaf girl, his friends/classmates turn on him and he seeks redemption as an older person but the problem is they don’t take enough time in the transition period to really explain why he’s so remorseful or delve into his character. It felt like I was missing something or almost that they were starting a new story, a new introduction to the movie. But, I just ignored this detail while watching. Really, as long as the interactions with the deaf girl were sufficiently interesting I wouldn’t have cared. And, for the most part, when it was just them, it was pretty good. I liked the sign language interactions and thought they were very sweet. But, the problem is in the side characters and specifically, the side characters from when the MC was a kid. The five main ones that showed up would be the glasses girl, the girl who was friends with the deaf girl, the girl who had a crush on the MC, and the MC’s two male friends. Some showed up more than others and they felt like unnecessary, random, and at times annoying/distasteful diversions to the main story between the MC and deaf girl. I think character wise, focusing on the two main characters and possibly the new friend the older MC made, would’ve been far better. But there were too many characters to focus on and way too many different directions the story was trying to go towards for me to really feel connected to any one of them. The ending too felt kind of like they were thinking of the most tragic thing they can put to make the viewer feel emotion.
Overall, this movie has good moments sprinkled throughout but as a whole felt very disorganized and I probably would’ve liked it more if they went the direction they did for Garden of Sinners, a short 40 minute movie focusing primarily on the two main characters.

Mayoiga’s definitely one of the most hated animes I’ve seen on a kissanime board for a long time. On MAL as well this anime is pretty hated which is pretty weird cause if an anime has a low rating on MAL I almost never like it but for this anime, I found that I didn’t hate it. In fact, I was looking for things to hate while watching the show because I thought I was missing something.
A huge trope of the survival anime is the Lord of The Flies, building factions type of thing and in this one, near the end, the factions
...
were very interesting. Not to do with persecution or anything to do with sadism/wanting to kill others but in two factions of people that were willing to deal with their fears to get out of the place they were stuck in and people that succumbed to sloth and fear. In the beginning it was more like a normal survival anime but they switched it up, which is pretty brave. Most survival animes have very few people that actually survive because a lot of the point is to introduce unlikeable characters and get rid of them, which is one strategy to focus on a select few characters. In here there is less of that waste of characters. If you don’t like a character or set of characters, most likely they aren’t going to disappear anytime soon.
The main reason I found this anime to be good, however, is the backstory of the Lost Village. A lot of events made more sense, including the reason why people even come to the Lost Village and why its called that. It created depth to the story and looking at the situation logically, there might be a solution to getting out of the Village that depends on the characters themselves, which really led to exploring and testing characters in non-trivial way. By the end, I ended up not really hating anyone, and in fact feeling bad for some which I think is the mark of a good show.

Beelzebub, Toradora and other delinquent-type anime have the trope of the scary looking but actually nice protagonist and in those anime that is simply a trope but in Angel Densetsu, that’s the main point of the story and what drives the story forward. Everything that happens is because people misunderstand the main protagonist and think he’s a delinquent. The older, unique artstyle also definitely adds to this as unlike in anime like Toradora or Beelzebub where the characters more or less look the same as everyone else, the main protagonist of Angel Densetsu, Kitano, actually looks scary with his slick-backed hair, lack of eyebrows and
...
almost nosferatu-looking grayish face. And through the misunderstandings there are some good bits of interesting moments that are both funny and intense, like a sort of dark slapstick humor, the dark part more prevalent in the manga where they look more and more into what it means to judge Kitano based on his looks. Still though, this anime is a short hidden gem and a perfect jumping off point to read the manga (which is awesome BTW).

Hyouka is a detective, mystery solving anime and as with most mystery solving anime, the main detectives are high school students. But unlike anime like Ghost Hunt, Detective School Q, or Detective Conan, the main character is not a mystery nut and he also doesn’t go around solving murder mysteries, outsmarting the professionals detectives. Oreki is very uninterested in being a detective and solves relatively mundane mysteries at the behest of his friends who are enamoured by his abilities. Oreki meets Chitanda, the character that pushes Oreki to use his mystery solving skills, in the literature club and there he solves his first mystery of

the series, finding out why the door was locked when Chitanda herself had not locked it. The mysteries are always very informative in discovering things about how certain people in the school operate, in internal drama in clubs, and in the history of the school. There’s definitely something poetic about finding that there are mysteries all around you hidden in plain sight, and Hyouka definitely captures that feeling.

The YouTube reactions to the various ways people die in this show suggest that that's the main attraction of this show, but watching it, I found the most entertaining part was in the way the class handles their situation and the interactions between Mei and Kouichi. The characters don’t feel like chickens without heads losing all senses of themselves like in other horror shows (I’m looking at you Maiyoga) but rather, are fairly logical (for the most part). The show also builds tension throughout the whole show and only really lets it explode near the end. It's also vague enough to let the viewer believe
...
in whether everything that happens to the class is because of the curse or because of their self-fulfilling prophecy, though not so vague where its just guessing either or. The art and music are also high quality, not particularly super original or unique but still well done. Highly recommend for someone that wants a solid horror anime to watch that's not too over done.
