This review is not the most fancy of ones, so it will be very short and to the point about whether this anime is really good or not. The answer, is yes. Senjou no Valkyria is based off a video game under the same name, and it follows the story of Alicia and Welkin as they fight together in a war brought on by the empire. I highly recommend playing the game first, but if not, then watching the anime first, is fine. If I had to pick one thing about this show that ... stood out the most to me, then it would be that this is one of the best game-to-anime adaptions I have ever seen. While there is no OP or ED with this show, the quality is very much there. The characters are likeable, the sounds are good enough, the art style is very pleasing, the story is great, and overall, its an enjoyable military-style anime.




So in summary, this is one amazing videogame-to-anime adaption that I've seen and I highly recommend it for those who enjoy a country side of things and military. Oh, and check out the video game as well.

Wow, I ehhhh, don't know where to even begin with this. This show is one of the best shows I've seen yet worse ones at the same time. So much to like yet so much to hate.


Story: The story of Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt is basically about two Angels named Panty and Stocking who go around and destroy ghosts in order to gain Heaven Coins. Through out the series, the various events happen and the over arcing story is kind of lost but thats fine. Also, the weapons that the main ... two use are Panty using her panty as a gun, and Stocking using her stockings as a blade. How silly is that lol. Aside from that, there is not much else to say about the story itself.



Art: This is one where some will like it or hate it. The art style is unique to anime IMO, but the art style is very similar to some old cartoons I watched as a kid on cartoonnetwork. There are certain parts where the art takes on a more realistic form and the characters look very nice. The setting of the show has a very whimsical sort of feel and things have very sharp edges and curvy points.




Sound: The music is what kept me going because of how catchy and funky it was. Just listen to Fly Away from the OST or watch half of the first episode and you will hear it when Panty and Stocking are transforming. If you like electronic type of style and tracks with good downbeats,then you should like the music here. Also, there are many songs that are used from other films like Rocky and Space Odyssey 2001 or are very slightly altered to avoid copyright issues. Strong point for the series.



Characters: This is another part that will make or break the show for people. The main two characters are basically very very sleazy girls who bang a ton of guys, especially Panty since Stocking has a slight bit better sense of taste and is not as open as Panty is. They also swear a LOT, and I mean a LOT, and not just things like shit or damn, but like flat out, f bombs and other very suggestive things as well. To me, it was over the top and got stale, but at times, it was right on and funny. Still, its not common to hear that sort of language too often.



Enjoyment: Personally, I kept watching because of the music, the lewd jokes that I could partially relate to, and the outrageousness of the whole show. There are times where it was annoying and I would skip a bit just to get past an annoying scene or two, but outside of that, it was funny from beginning to the end.



Overall: If you can handle the very strong coarse language and the overwhelming amount of penis and sex jokes in general, then you should give this a shot. If anything, watch the first episode and wait til the transformation scene. And since I rarely rarely consider watching the dub for shows, Ill also add that the dub version of this show, is very well done. Language seems to be even more over the top, but the voice actors nailed the roles pretty well, even the small characters.

I'll keep this review short and sweet for those who don't want to read a massively worded review. Gangsta, is a show about 2 guys who live in a tightly packed town where there are people who have skills in fighting, and war is a constant event that happens due to people from different sections of the town being at odds with each other. Thats just the basics.


Now, the first thing that can be seen is that the art style, and the story (very loosely) is similar to Black Lagoon, which is a series that I really really enjoyed. ... So, why am I not giving this show a higher rating? Simple, because the story did not progress much. The plot would constantly pause and lots of 'memories' and past events would play through, and certain characters were introduced, but nothing much would come from it. It felt like it was building up for something big to happen, yet nothing big happened. Major let down. Besides that, the characters were fairly interesting. Each one had something interesting going on, even though the constant use of eye patches was overly done. The sounds/music was good, it really was. Animation style, started off great, then started to slacken near the end of the season. Maybe budget issues?


Anyway, the show itself, was okay, just, okay. Not bad, but not amazingly superbly great either. The art style made me like it because of the Black Lagoon style, the characters made things gritty, but the story progression, was really lacking.

This review will have no spoilers in it, however, I will be blunt in saying that the way this show ended, is very much like how Deadman Wonderland ended, which was that it ended with some resolution, but with TONS of questions left unanswered or things that were not ended that should have been ended. Outside of that issue, the rest of this will be fairly postive.




Story: Basically think of this as Survivor (the TV show) meets anime. No seriously, that's what the plot revolves around which is people stranded on an island and they have to survive except ... this time its a deadly form of survival where people can, and will, die. The story description in the MAL page here describes it best. IMO, the story was simple enough to follow yet interesting enough to continue. Various conflicts would happen and it was enjoyable. There are some scenes of sexual violence so if rape and implied rape makes you feel unease, then be warned that there are a few scenes early on, but you don't see the full act of it happening per se.


Outside of that, the story is basic and simple but that's not bad when compared to animes with stories so complex that you have to read wikia, the manga, online posts, or just rewatch it many times, just to understand it.


Art: I swear I had this vibe that the art style for some scenes and some people were like SnK. The style was fine. Nothing in particular to say about it. The people were interesting in looks, some had distinctive features like a large forehead (well it appears that way), braids, tats, mega breasts, etc. And speaking boobs, the fanservice was surprisingly mild. Sure the main female has nice DD or E cup breasts, but there was only a few fairly mild ecchi scenes, so the mood was kept fairly serious.


Sound: Not much to say here. The music OP and ED were great, BGM was fitting mostly. Of course the use of Half Life Crowbar-hitting-metal sound was there a few times.


Character: Weakest part of the show. There were plenty of characters that COULD have had more interesting things to them, but it was usually explained through flashbacks and would last for just one episode. The main two characters were lacking in detail but at least they established how they were loosely connected before you find out later how they truly met.


Enjoyment: I really wanted to like this, I really did. I found myself enjoying it from the near start, all the way to the end, but then when I saw the last few minutes of it, i realized that they were going to do a Deadman Wonderland move on me and end the show (and series) on a ton of cliffhangers and with many things left unanswered. With that said, I don't know if I would recommend this to anyone because I would hate for them to watch it and then say "Wow, all that just for an ending that isn't an ending?".

While this will not be the best of reviews, I will do my best to make it at least useful, rather than just random and useless.

So this series of now 3 OVAs, is based off the famous Touhou project which I highly recommend people to read about if they have an interest in bullet-hell games or about a story with a ton of characters and lore. I won't focus on the game itself since this is about the anime episodes that were made from an unofficial group.


Story: The story is really simple. It talks about past events and encounters ... that certain characters had. However, little to none of this happens in the story, BUT, key word is but, that is where the creator was able to use their imagination to create what they thought of and they did a good job on it. While there are plenty of plot-convience moments, and lucky pulls for the main two characters, the creator did a fair job in showing off a fair number of the characters. The plot is rushed like crazy, but still, it is enjoyable to watch


Art: The art style was amazingly well done especially when considering that it was made from some random group who has no where near as much funds as the big name companies do, so the style was shockingly good. The characters have their original designs and outfits and the maturity of some were put in a way that was very fitting.


Sound: Sounds were fine, nothing much to say here.

Characters: This is where they shine, but not too brightly. The characters are largely shown at one point or another, and some of them have their abilities showcased which for those who know the series and know the characters, can enjoy seeing the characters use it in a fight or use it in a convenient way. However, the focus was largely on two characters who use OP abilities to overcome anything, even when in theory they should have lost when fighting someone who has powers that are extremely superior to theirs.

Enjoyment: I'm biased here because the show as a whole, was not the best, but since I love the Touhou project and the modern spin on it, I enjoyed each and every minute of it, especially since I got to see my favorite Sakuya Izayoi character a few times within the 3 episodes.


Overall: I rate this higher than I should, not because the anime itself was that good, but because the amount of effort that the person put into creating an anime for Touhou, which is very much needed, and they did an incredible job when considering. I really look forward to future releases, and if Im correct, there should be episode 4 coming out this year.

There is nothing much to say about this short, and seemingly, quickly-put-together anime. This series of short OVAs, is based off of a mobile game called Chain Chronicle. The game itself, is actually enjoyable, but that is not what this review is about. This review is strictly based off the anime itself. To put it simple, there is really nothing to praise this anime about aside from being an adaption of a mobile game. The Story is simply not there, the art is ok, the sounds are ok the characters are unique in appearance and voice, the enjoyment ... is partially there IF and only if you have played the game. For those who have not played the game, this show makes little to no sense because important characters, and major side characters are just tossed out into the scene and it is just too confusing.


I believe there is suppose to be another series, a more complete series, that covers this and the game much better. Either way, if you have played the game, then I would say watch this to see if you can spot your favorite character. If you haven't, then I would pass on it because it wouldn't make sense, and there is no translation for the show either, just Japanese and Chinese subs.

Well this was your typical fan-service OVA. Personally bummed on how Hanabusa was treated here, but then again, if you watched the main series, you would know just how damn strong she was, so I guess they had to make her not as strong as before. Aside from the fanservice, there is really nothing much else to point out except for the ending song being good, the animation quality being good as before. Oh, and as for plot, the plot is basically the girls are fighting over these pin/badges. Thats it. Nothing else.

Gugure! Kokkuri-san is one of those shows that are a rare gem to find when mixed in season where big name shows like Psycho Pass 2 and Tokyo Ghoul, take all the attention. This show, like stated in one of the other top reviews, proves that you do not need big boobed women, gore and blood, harems, etc. to have a good show.


Story: The story for this, is really straight forward. A very odd girl named Kohina, lives alone in a house and does nothing but eat cheap bowl's of noodles. She then performs a ritual of sorts ... to call out for Kokkuri-san. She is able to summon him, and after a while, Kokkuri-san takes it in hear to constantly haunt her, and help her with things such as eating better. Through out the show, other characters are introduced and some of these characters are demons who decide to also haunt Kohina, while others do not.

From there, the story just flows on episodes having random encounters and issues that they face in life and each episode is unique in its own way. So if you are someone who is looking for a deep story, then this might be for you, but if you can handle the lacking of deep story, then you will be fine.


Characters: This is where the show shines. There are various characters through out the show that are introduced, and some are even used more than once. The characters are different from each other, and vary in personalities. The types of characters range from caring and sincere, to perverted or obsessive. It is hard to say which character was my favorite, because they each had their unique moment, and while some where short lived, others had more serious moments that had you think better of them. However, I am always a sucker for the sad-story-turned-sweet, so I will say that episode 10, the introduction of Kureha, was my favorite. I won't spoil it, but if you watch it, you will see why it is beautiful.


Art: The visuals are nicely done, the backgrounds are beautiful, the characters are nicely done as well, so nothing much to say here aside from it being good quality.


Sounds/Music: The sounds were good, but the music, was amazing. Just hearing the OP, made me realize that this show was going to be good, and man was it. The OP is very catchy and energetic, but also progressive through out the show. The very first intro, has the basics in it, but as the series progresses, there are more characters seen in it, and those who are in it already, do something different. Its very clever of them to do this. Also, the music used through out, was well done as was the ending song. A very short but simple song that I personally liked, was the Kureha theme song used in the beginning of episode 10. So beautiful.


Overall: Gugure! Kokkuri-san is a great show that people of many ages can enjoy. The humor is not too raunchy for kids, while not too childish for adults. If you are a person who enjoys stories, then this might not be the one for you, but if you enjoy good overall comedy mixed with interesting characters, then I recommend picking this up and giving it a go. If not, then at the very least, watch episode 10. Beautiful episode.

Mangaka-san to Assistant-san to The Animation, is simply an anime about a guy named Aito who is a manga artist, and works closely with various people, such as Ashisu. The show has a harem-like feel since it is a 'one guy, lots of girls', but no matter how perverted Aito is, he does not have any intention to do any of the girls wrong, even if what he says and does, comes off the wrong way.


Story: To be blunt, there is very little story to the show, aside from Aito being a perverted manga artist, and Ashisu wanting to be a ... manga artist herself. From the first episode to the last, there is no real progression in the story.

Art: I do not know how to properly describe it, but the style is a nice and simple design that is good overall. The many exaggerations used in different cases, along with the facial expressions when certain things were said, were well done.

Sound: The music, although minimal, was fine, and the sound effects used for many awkward and non-awkward scenes, were perfect.

Enjoyment: I enjoyed the show because it had the right mix of silly and perverted humor, without overly using the typical ecchi things like 'guy falls on girl and gropes breasts' or 'guy bends over to tie shoe and looks up at girls panties', so it gave it the right amount to be enjoyable, without being too overly weird or creepy.



Overall, the show was not bad. The only gripe I have with it, was simply that the episodes, were only 13 minutes long, instead of the usual 24 minutes. So in short, if you enjoy silly and perverted humor that doesn't have the overload of ecchi cliches, then you should enjoy this.

Before writing a review, most people write some sort of catchy thing that gets a person's interest, but I can not think of anything other than to say that I can not think of anything. Now then, lets get started with the review.


Story:

Seitokai no Ichizon is about a male student, Sugisaki Ken, who is the only male student on the Student Council which consists of four girls and a female teacher who is their advisor. The rest of the plot revolves around the days of student council members and on how Ken wants to make all the girls on the council, his ... harem. That is all there is to say about the main story. At first it sounds really lame and boring but it slowly grows and at the end, explains the rather honest and sincere reason for why he wants to have all the girls be in his harem (yes, the reason is good, even if the word harem is used to describe it lol). Although that is the main story, what makes this anime different than a regular comedy anime, is that it is a parody comedy.

Throughout the show, especially the first half, there are countless references to shows such as Higurashi, The Mel. of Haruhi, Strike Witch, Death Note, K On!, and possibly others. However, instead of limiting the comedy to just parody, there were many moments where the characters would practically break the fourth wall in and say things like "So why is it that the main character in the anime talked this episode?" or on episode 1 "We need a opening theme for the show, but what should we do?"


Art:

Nothing too special about the art style. It does have a similar style that reminded me of Higurashi (especially with the main male character from both anime), and School Days. When doing the parody parts, the art style would briefly change to fit the theme, but overall stayed true.


Sound/music:

Nothing special here either. The OP was fine, the ED was cute, the sound effects used were fitting.


Character:

I thought they were great at fitting their own little niche, like the girl who is too innocent to realize what others mean when they say certain things (even though she likes BL novels), or the girl who was the more busty n lusty yet deadly and scary. The main male, Ken, did a great job at being awkwardly perverted and still be enjoyable when he was honest and serious.


Enjoyment:

Well, I enjoyed it, so hows that? Ok, I liked this anime quite a lot, but it was getting dry near the end, but once you make it to the final episode, you learn about the true reason why Ken is doing what he is doing, which was a really sweet and touching moment that made it all worth it. The fact that the show was a parody type, made various references to the viewers watching the show, and other things, made me enjoy this. I don't think this is the anime that everyone will enjoy , but for those who want a comedy that uses parody, then this is a good find.
