Just wow. It's been a looooooooooooong time since I've wanted to drop a show less than halfway through the first episode. I made myself watch a couple more just to make sure but nope, there isn't any redeeming qualities unless watching good animation is the most important thing to you.
It continuously feels like the writer learned about games from a faraway land where no one makes or plays them. He was just out walking in the forest behind his house and happened to find a usb stick poking out of the mud, and in it was a collection of game reviews by Taylor Swift written
...
in hieroglyphics. Honestly, I feel like even if I was 12 years old and this was the first anime I ever watched, I would still hate it just as much. I mean, I rated Boruto 1/10 and I like it more than this show.
I wish this could fall into the "so bad it's good" category, but I couldn't even laugh at how absurd it is. Watch literally anything else instead.

While season 1 is an action/strategy/fked up coming of age story, season 2 is a slow suspenseful drama with psychological aspects up to this point. I say this not to infer that either is bad, it just simply feels like a different show with a reoccurring character. This probably isn't helped by the timeskip (however small) from the end of the first season.
I found it enjoyable to watch, but some may initially be startled with the sudden change. The new characters are quite varied, and many are interesting. Our main guy is of course still slow on the uptake, maybe this changes later. I'm also
...
very interested to see if he ends up meeting certain characters again and how that goes if he does.
All in all, it's too early to say if it's going in a good direction or not, or give this a real temporary rating, there just isn't enough content yet. Which makes sense, this is a 24 episode season. Not everything fits into the "watch 3 episodes then decide if you want to keep going" guideline. Have fun.

Definitely worth watching if you like Bleach (minus all of the filler arcs of course), everything is the same except better. More story, better looking fights, OP bankais finally being shown off that everyone has been waiting for. So why did I select mixed feelings?
There's actually one thing that's different. Bleach has always stretched the content out longer than it needs to be (like most shounen do), but it's always been enjoyable. But this time, the content has been rushed. Hard. This easily could have been 20 episodes and it would've been better for it. There wasn't enough time to fully enjoy anything as it
...
lasted a few minutes and then the next thing is thrown at you or the episode ends and the next episode starts off somewhere else. I could feel the time crunch multiple times throughout. There were multiple parts that could have been 1-2 whole episodes but instead were 3-5 minutes. I don't know if they locked in 13 episodes and couldn't change it later, or if they just decided that they were going to make it all fit no matter what, but it hurt the story.
There's one word I'll hate to see being stomped into the dirt even more, the once bright, golden "masterpiece," but this isn't a bad show either. Certainly a lot closer to it than many other shows I've seen labelled so in the past year or so by the kiddies.

There's a great story hidden within this mediocre one. Characters with extensive backgrounds and complex motives, adventures and fights on the level of Naruto, maybe even HxH if there was enough care put into its making. But the imagination cannot make up for all that is lacking.
Seth is similar to Naruto in that he's dumb but wants to help his friends, only turned up to an almost unbearable level. The Inquisitors at first seem like an enemy who has either good intentions but have been fooled by subterfuge into being too harsh on the sorcerers, or are villains pulling off an intricate plan to solidify
...
themselves as the heroes for nefarious gains. And then suddenly they are acting like some kind of racists against not just sorcerers and intelligent creatures, but even other humans who were born in a different country. Doc has shown subtle hints of becoming more, but then he is constantly used as a source of poor comedic punchlines.
The characters all have varied powers that are interesting or exciting, and open up plenty of avenues for deeper lore, but are usually just large blobs of color in passable animation work. The sorcerers' spells are usually green or blue while the inquisitors are gold. Makes me wonder if they were going after the look of lightsabers in Star Wars. The sounds don't feel out of place, but most of it isn't helping the show in any way. Better than dead silence but nothing memorable.
The good thing is that season 2 does improve on the first a bit. Just maybe season 3 could do the same and get a bit closer to what this story deserves.

Simply appalling. The first few episodes are nothing special, but you get the sense that you are about to watch a decently written underdog story set in a fantasy world that has a small semblance of originality. But the writers were just tricking you into wasting your time.
The story quickly devolves into nonsensical plot threads with characters acting completely unnatural, and the main character completely skips any sort of journey and just becomes OP on the spot. Characters that have been established as baddies are forgiven with literally 0 explanation, no matter how many or who they've killed in the past. Dozens of people die
...
during the story, but not really because one character runs around fixing them all up every time. They pretend to throw a wrench in the cogs when one time they are out of power, but the situation is resolved within 3 seconds. I could keep going on and on about all the failures in this show, but I won't.
That's because I sit here and ponder WHY this show is the way it is. The only explanation I can come up with is that it was done on purpose. What was the purpose? I'm not sure, I can only come up with some guesses. To sum it all up, utter garbage, and they have thoroughly succeeded in wasting a few hours of my time.

Of course, because Zeke has an extreme plan, Eren creates a counter plan just as extreme. This would be fine if Eren could come up with any kind of reason to justify it, whether his reason is good enough or not. It's never fully explained why Eren decides to do what he does, unless you want to include teenage emotions.
Quite a few characters are developed, further interwoven into the story, but the biggest problem is that their interactions feel dragged out to fill time. Before, everything felt relevant and pushed the story forward, now they talk in circles to move a few inches at a
...
time. Others are inconsistent or dropped entirely. Historia has been thrown to the wayside, Mikasa's motivations are weak, Armin hasn't done much, Levi and Hange have done nothing all season. Then there's Gabi who's constantly on screen to do nothing but run around and shoot giant guns.
Lately, a lot of the art has been pretty subpar. Hopefully this means they are saving up to do some really good scenes in the next few episodes. The best parts of this season so far has been when the story is expanded, and the action. Other than during the action scenes though, the story is not being progressed. I'm usually not one to say something is boring cause it's not all action, but more would be welcome right now.

The story continues in the same fashion as before, which brings us both the good parts and the bad. There's not that much action yet, though it is developing at a good pace, setting up for the big conflict.
Shinei is still the serious, competent warrior who carries the weight of his past quietly and without complaint. He cares for his friends, though doesn't show it often. His character is still pulled off very well without feeling edgy or too perfect. The rest of the cast is still relegated to a few defining characteristics, and feels mostly there as a background to Shinei's journey. Raiden in
...
particular feels like he should've had more backstory by now with how close he is to Shinei. Lena is only given a few minutes of screen time so far, to setup her involvement later in the season most likely.
The themes are still quite vague and one-dimensional. Hopefully this will be expanded upon soon to give more meaning to what is going on in the show.
The dialogue occasionally feels stilted and ham-fisted like in the first season, usually when there is an attempt to expand upon a character. This is mostly noticed in Frederica, who is a child but sometimes spouts lines in an attempt to make her seem more mature and capable than her age would suggest.
I have enjoyed it so far, and there's plenty of room to improve, or just continue to be entertaining enough to feel worth watching.

This show is an enigma. It is a shonen, yet the age rating is 17+, meaning it's intended audience isn't supposed to be watching it.
The story feels quite original, the lore intriguing, and at first I was interested in the mysteries proposed. But it quickly became tedious to watch. Every other minute, there is a comedic moment put in which ruins the mood, ecchi scenes are scattered throughout (where is the ecchi genre tag?) that feel specifically made for young teens, and characters often feel inconsistent. I think it is the perfect show for the audience they were going for, but they didn't edit it
...
to secure a PG13 rating. At the same time, I wish they had just designed the show for older viewers in the first place, as I feel I really could've enjoyed this story.
(very minor spoilers here) There is one part of the show that is a little off-putting. There is a female vampire character that the main character blackmails into having a relationship with him. She has a hidden affliction which he shows he can fix, but never does, and instead uses as the blackmail. He later mentions that he doesn't know if he can fix it, but he never actually tries.
The art is not top tier, but it's very consistent, with bright varied colors, and good lighting and backgrounds. They go a bit overboard with the sound, but it's solid overall.
If you like a light-hearted shonen with mysteries, comedy bits throughout, and some ecchi, then this show may be for you. (If you are younger, just don't let your parents catch you watching it during the more risqué scenes.)

I came into this expecting a very mediocre show with the usual elements that most isekai have. I figured the score was overblown like many others. What I found very much surprised me.
Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation takes the transported into another world aspect pretty seriously, instead of just using it as a plot device to tell the story it wants to tell. Rudeus (we never learn his Japanese name) brings all of his character traits with him into the new world, good and bad, and you get to experience the things he has to overcome from his past life. The show very well could've failed
...
here, but it doesn't. Besides the ecchi and drama, there are moments of comedy, seriousness, action and adventure, which are put together very well. I was never taken out of a scene because of misplaced comedy or anything else.
There is one problem with his character. Because of being a shut-in, he never completely learned manners, and became a bit of a porn addict. This causes him to grope women in his new life before thinking about whether it is acceptable. There is also a bit of a sinister side: because his mind is technically much older than his body is, he could be considered a pedophile by some. I find this not completely convincing. He is physically a boy in this new world, and likes the girls his age because of their personality and looks, not because they are much younger than him. If when he becomes an adult, and clearly tries to get with underage girls, then I would solidify him as a pedophile, and find this show disgusting.
The show kind of handles it well, usually showing that the behavior is bad, and the girls retaliate or mistrust him, ending in him apologizing and seeing that his actions were wrong. I find it good enough for the 17+ age rating the show has. If people at that age watch this and try to imitate it, then they weren't well adjusted people to begin with.
The art and sound is solid throughout, and compliments the scenes quite well. Nothing ever stood out to me as out of place.
If you like shows oriented towards adults, while having shonen/isekai aspects, then you might like this. I'm surprised it is not tagged in the seinen genre, but I feel it is looking to appeal to women just about as much as men. I thought it was definitely worth watching, and will be watching season two.

"The Vanetti name is more important than anything. More than friends, more than parents and siblings. I'm ready to do what I must." -Nero
Story: A great but simple story about revenge. Angelo has nothing else to live for, since the Vanetti's have taken his family from him, all shot to death on his 12th birthday.
World Building: The focus is pretty narrow around Angelo and the other main characters in which he interacts with, but you get a good feel about the city they live in. Studio Shuka does a good job making sure everything feels realistic for the time period, and I give them applause
...
for doing a prohibition era piece right.
Characters: Angelo is smart, hard-working, and willing to do what it takes to get the job done. If he had been in different circumstances, he could've easily become a businessman of renown and wealth. His best friend, Corteo is a great friend who truly cares for Angelo, though he doesn't do well with the mob types, and easily loses his cool in dangerous situations. Nero is a good man at heart, though he is forced into killing for the family. After letting his first victim get away, he resolves to do whatever it takes to make sure that the family name is well respected and feared, not bothering to think about the families he is destroying along the way.
Other characters aren't given very much background, but enough that I'm satisfied given only a 12 episode run time.
Art & Sound: Sound is nothing special, but not bad either. I felt everything fit well into the themes and emotions the show was trying to convey. Art style is not my favorite, and has a noticeable dip in quality around halfway, but it is serviceable.
Overall, a pretty well-rounded show that I enjoyed all the way through. Some may think some characters could use more backstory, but that would've forced them into a 13 or 14 episode show, and I felt they did a well enough job that it's better this way. Otherwise, they probably would've had to put some filler in to round out an episode or two. My biggest gripe with the show, which I have with any kind of media, is leaving the audience with an ambiguous ending. It's such a cop-out, and honestly makes me mad. The only acceptable reason to have an ambiguous ending is because there's going to be another season, or movie, or book. I was very close to an 8, but ended on a 7 because of this.
