When first looking at Idolm@ster you tend to think 'its just another show about becoming an idol' or 'oh its another show with a lot of cute looking girls who are happy-go-lucky'. However, if you give the show a chance instead of watching just an episode or two you will discover it can actually be more than that. Even though the show has a lot of main characters, Idolm@ster does a great job introducing them all and going further into their characters. Each episode can be about a specific girl, but each episode isn't solely focused on them either. When a problem is introduced to
...
one of them it not only shows how it affects them but the others as well. The story shows the idols [and the company?] slowly progressing to stardom. You even have a little bit of an antagonist in the show appear to heat things up! This anime is very funny, exciting, and can be dramatic when it wants. However I do feel as though the story lacked something. It might be that even though this anime is different it somehow felt predictable. Like a few other animes were similar to the show. However even if this is the case this show does stand out on its in own from others by the characters, art, and music.
The show isn't about being famous, but the the bonds these girls have created and their everyday life to get to the top.
This anime art style is one that I favor a lot. It is more realistic than other anime styles but it also holds the anime feeling. The style also complimented the character design, personality, and even their voices. Each character were unique in their own way from long silver hair to the shape of their face and even their eyes. Even if their personalities seem to be very bubbly the show makes it a point to show that they are different from one another and each girl has different tastes.
The animation wasn't half bad either. Especially the concert scenes, with the background of the audience to the dances they performed on stage, everything was constantly moving and you were rarely staring at a picture for minutes [like some low budget animes]. The flow of the animation really help keep it going and keep the viewers entertained. However, there were a few times the animation was still for a lot longer than I think it should have. The ending themes to the episodes I enjoyed it being stills. They were always different and also related to everything that happened in the episode. The music for this anime was also very enjoyable. A lot of it was kind of too bubbly or slow for my taste, but the music was still good none-the-less.
I believe I would re-watch this anime given a good bit of time since i prefer shorter animes. Other people planning on watching this anime should give it a go even if you are reluctant. I was at the beginning but i'm glad I watched it.

AnoHana is definitely worthwhile to watch! Especially if your into the animes that leave you with some kind of heart felt emotion [and maybe a few tears]. My friend had recommended AnoHana to me and I am very glad that he did!
Story :9:
The story of AnoHana is about a boy, named Jintan, who hallucinates about his friend Menma. But is Menma really a hallucination of his? Determined to grant her wish Jintan and his friends set off to do that. The story to AnoHana is at least no where close to boring in my opinion. The plot of the story might be to make Menma's
...
wish come true, however, the focus of the story is about friendship. That even after separating for such a long time friends can come back to being friends, and even if they change it'll still feel like the old times. Also some of the dark side of friendships is displayed in this show as well. By dark side I mean secrets and emotions that friends keep from their other friends. There is struggle, tears, laughter, and frustration throughout the whole anime. You learn more about each character as the show goes on even if its only a little thing. The ending went off with a bang too! It was definitely not a disappointment at all.
Art :8:
I found the art very pleasing. The backgrounds are beautiful and the anime style is one of my favorites. It kind of has a realistic aspect in the meaning that they don't have eyes taking up 2/3 of their face. The animation was pretty good as well. Most of the scenes kept moving and it wasn't like I was staring at someones face for 5 mins.
Sound :9:
I really enjoyed the opening and ending songs. Normally I skip through them until the last episode, however, I found myself listening/watching the opening theme quite a few times. The voices for the characters suited them very well as well.
Character :10:
AnoHana doesn't just introduce side characters in the show because they aren't just side characters. You learn about each one and their personalities. I feel like I could see myself becoming friends with most of them. There isn't a character in AnoHana that I dislike [although I do think one of them is a little creepy]. Each personality is unique, and each person was thought out very well.
Enjoyment :10:
This anime is very enjoyable. There are a lot of touching scenes and funny scenes as well. So funny that you would burst out laughing. After each episode I immediately clicked the next episode button. I even made sure I wasn't missing any little bits after the ending theme. I couldn't but laugh or cry because I was enjoying AnoHana to much.
Overall :10:
AnoHana is one of those rare animes these days. It has a unique and strong story without have harems or fan service. The show isn't at all dark or gloomy. Its a very enjoyable anime to sit down to watch. Would I recommend this anime to someone? Heck yeah! Before you know it you'll be finishing this anime in one sitting. That's what happened to me at least.

Mmm... I'm not a super big fan of super long reviews so i'll try to not make this too long...
Story :6:
As I was watching the anime I found the story very intriguing. The story is unique its own way, has some romance in it, and plot twists. However to me it felt that after half way into the show the story started to be crammed full of info and other major events. Some parts of the story also felt a little too cliche, but never the less it was still enjoyable. The ending however, in my opinion, was very good in the likes that it
...
wasn't the typical happy or sad ending. Also I enjoyed that there was a good balance of fan service. I believe if there is gonna be any in any anime to never over do it too much. So that was a big plus for me.
Character :4:
The reason why I give the characters a 4 is because I didn't feel very attached to them. When something tragic would happen to someone in the show I didn't feel any remorse for them or even tear up. As good as the main character is there were a lot of moments that I was tired of him. Also you never really knew much about any of the other characters. Only very few of them did they give a little bit of background info. So it wasn't really hard to watch a lot of the characters go in the anime. However i'm not saying there aren't any characters that I couldn't feel for or relate too.
Art/Animation :9:
Guilty Crown really shocked me a bit with the animation and artwork. I have noticed over the years of watching anime, cartoons, and animation films, that there are a lot of anime that doesn't have a lot of animation in their episodes. However this anime did a splendid job of satisfying me on that aspect. There was never a moment in any of the 22 episodes where you were staring at someone's face for 5 minutes as they talked. The show was always moving and not to mention their action scenes. I also enjoy this style of anime. It was beautifully drawn, colored, and animated.
Sound/Voice/Music :10:
The voices for the characters really matched every one of them. Not one felt like it didn't match the character's personality. I also like the opening and ending music that they chose. However there was one opening I didn't like, but that was because the english sounded funny. I especially love when Inori would sing her song. The singing voice was absolutely beautiful.
Enjoyment :9:
This anime has kept me up till 7:30 in the morning, because I couldn't just stop watching and go to sleep. I thoroughly enjoyed this anime for the past couple hours constantly clicking the 'next episode' button. This anime pulls you in with the action and fight scenes but also with the drama and romance as well. Each episode makes you want to know what happens next even if you get frustrated with the story.
Overall :10:
I give this anime a 10! Of course this is only my opinion on the anime. I do believe that everyone should try out at least the first couple of episodes and decide for themselves. This anime is good for those looking for something a little different or interesting. This anime pulled me in real fast even though I don't really go for this kind of anime a lot. When I was done watching this anime I felt a nice feeling in my heart, and that is a very big thing for me when it comes to anime. If I don't feel some kind of sensation inside then that anime would be something I wouldn't talk about or remember after awhile.
Welp... This ended up being a bit long. Sorry.
