Netflix, Trigger, and a failed game. This show has no right to be good, yet it’s a fucking masterpiece.
Animation 9/10: The beautiful and unique animation thoroughly represents the cyberpunk art style. The menus and UI are all loyal to the game, yet feel in place. While it isn’t perfect, the vibrant colors and emotions it displays make up for most of its downfalls.
Story 10/10: With so many shows being copy and paste today, it’s great to see something new and refreshing. The story is truly what makes this anime great. It ties together both heart racing fights and moments of sadness into a
...
rich, deep story rarely seen today.
Characters 10/10: Each character has a unique design tying into the cyberpunk theme. Even the static characters are filled with emotion beautifully portrayed through the vibrant animation. The characters feel human and realistic, a nice change of pace in an era of bland and senseless characters designed to connect with anyone.
Note: While the story is unique, the anime borrows many things from game. I’m not sure if someone who hasn’t played the game would enjoy it, but for those who have, you need to watch this. Also, if you have a Netflix subscription, I would recommend watching it there for better streaming quality. Sub and dub are both available.
