Their poor teacher is just some random guy who innocently wonders why his student's keep "transferring". Promising fun idea having a normal student trying to survive with a room full of 12 assassins. Seems like something full of wit and clever characters. Too bad it's played way too straight and no one is deep enough to be clever. Maybe this just wasn't for me but I walked away with meh opinions because everyone was so guarded.
Story
Bunch of female assassins compete with their classmates to kill one girl, the main difference here is that each assassin gets only one 24 hour period of their
...
choice to kill her. I'd say it's a battle royal like story, but like mixed with school life story. It's the highlights of school life where the cold character hangs out with the timid target. There's some slight mystery with what each character is about but honestly I wasn't too interested in exploring it prior to their episode.
Character
I found characters interesting only after we got a flashback or a call from the character of the episode. I found them more fascinating because of what could have been, I suggest watching the eds because they show character's wish being fulfilled or their backstory. The most interesting part of their characters are their backstories, occasionally their dynamics with one other person. It's one of those things where I wish they weren't assassins, they're all so guarded so it's hard to learn about anyone in any meaningful way.
Since the story is pushed by the target being the target it would have been nice if she had something more. As it stands she's a tragic timid nice girl who wants to enjoy high school. She doesn't move anyone to her side, she barely interacts with most of them and when she does it a "let's do well" kinda comment. Like it would have been neat if she pulled people to her side or at least made them torn about killing her. The most we get is "oh we've been classmates that don't interact, so I feel bad" or "you had a tragic backstory, so I'm sorry".
General feel
It feels more like a slice of life that got the battle royal thing kinda shoved in. It just doesn't balance the assassins with the slice of life setting, they are guarded and stay guarded archetypes until it's their episode then we learn about them.
Positive:
- Good to decent character stories
- Decent fights and action
- EDs all are of the character's wishes/stories and different songs
Negative:
- Shallow feeling characters
- Everyone is so deadpan
- Upon finishing hated it but coming back I'm like meh to it

Would I suggest to people? Ehhh I wanna say yes because it is interesting and explores some interesting topics, bomb powers too but I honestly mainly remember the excessive sexploitation, blood and gore with hints of clever schemes.
Story
I could recite some wiki or something but I honestly watched this like in 2017 so don't remember a ton of details. Basically a photographer stumbles on the exploitation of a girl he falls for and from there gets caught up in the drama and greed that surrounds her. It's an interesting world, it's a world running with the idea that anything is yours for
...
a price.
Characters
Truly Kagura and Tatsumi are fun duo? I guess it mildly makes me uncomfortable that she's like half his age but it's also heart warming to see the sheltered Kagura experience the world. The others are fun. I remember them being so much fun I was just waiting for the next time we saw them on screen.
mixed thoughts
Neat powers, I like the idea and exploration of themes too. Somewhere in the middle of watching I realized the powers were based off the person's sexual fetishes I thought that was a fun. I remember it being a slog for me to get through the middle but the beginning and end were really good.

The show is a post-apocalyptic one where teenagers wake up to a world that can kill them at any turn. If you read the genre tags I'd say only heed the adventure, drama and mystery ones. I swear the romance ones are there solely because a motivation is living to find/find out what happened to their loved ones. Anyways, decent enough start but depending on how you weigh your annoyance at the characters verses interest in world this may be a decent to terrible show.
Story
The story is generally about groups of people learning to live in their new environment. The story somewhat breaks
...
into mini paths following the different groups. A core part of the story is the exploration and mystery solving. It is a little hard to follow due to it skipping around which I wish they put better tags or set up the transitions between story threads better. The flashbacks and stories of how characters got to a place are fascinating and probably the best part of the show. The characters are the core part because we need to care and be worried about them in this new world they're experiencing, so your mileage will very wildly depending on how much you can stand the characters in the beginning. If they're grating I don't suggest continuing.
Characters
This sounds bad but just go with what the show is doing, like don't get caught up in learning everyone immediately. It will happen and honestly there are only a handful of characters out of the like 28 total that matter and need their names remembered. I know some people who didn't appreciate the speed in which everyone who was introduced. I think the groups and characters are introduced in a good order and pace it just takes a little bit to figure out who we need to care about. Anyways, just get to know a few and the rest will come.
The first group of people are the starting group who are exactly as confused and uncertain as teens dropped into an unknown time and place. As you travel with this group you meet others of varying competence. I can clearly say I don't enjoy everyone but it also feels natural. Debatably, the characters are too surface level, the first group especially. In group one we have the capable woman, somewhat capable but nice guy, the bully and the clumsy wimp. They're not deep especially when first meeting them but I also wonder if that's because we are thrown into the fray with so many questions. Group 2 is full of clearly more capable people. I think it's trying to introduce a few too many ideas at once and getting a little tangled in that. The next groups are more solid but like don't get bogged down with the names.
In character conclusion, if you don't like Arashi (nice guy from group 1), Natsu (wimp from group 1), Semimaru (bully from group 1) and or Hana (capable girl group 2) then you may wanna think hard about how much you like the world you'll be experiencing with them.
Sound
Fun op. I think it and the visuals set up intro better than the show's actual opening minutes. Good beat that carries the start of the show. It's got some unique sounds for all the new creatures and good background music for the environments. The background music is quite nice it really sets the mood. I think it needs better balancing when the background music comes in because the music is quite loud for background music but otherwise good.
General feel
It takes too long for the show to finally get comfortable and find it's pacing. Like it dips in and out every time it skips to a new group it's gotta find a new rhythm. Very adventure-y but it's gotta stop jumping, it does it like twice an episode and it doesn't work.
Mixed thoughts
This one is hard to talk about cause it sometimes really shows it's age. Like the manga started in 2001 just for reference, not old but like it can really show it. The show doesn't really start off on the greatest of notes, it picks the lovable doofs who admittedly aren't that lovable upon first meeting them. So like not great character moments in the beginning but I'd say as you go through they grow on you. The CG is kinda meh like the shots they use are fine if the object is still not natural but whatever. If the CG is asked to move well then it's probably water and probably real weird to look at too closely.
Positives:
- Beautiful world boosted by the art
- Interesting look into people
- Encourages you to discover and learn as the characters do
- If you watch it in one go it tends to make more sense. If there were week long breaks the story would have been more erratic and confusing
- Easy to binge
Negatives:
- The number of characters
- If you watch the first ep and find everyone grating I don't suggest continuing
- Depending on which group's story you care about you're somewhat stuck waiting for it to come back around
- Skips around to different story threads aka groups
- Trigger warning [attempted rape (it is treated as a bad thing and it's not til the end (ep 22?) but warning regardless)]

Can I like just cry? It's a fun trip, good company in characters, like it's in an early 2000-2010 style. It's pretty dang well put together with some interesting questions and ideas presented. I just can't fathom why they added this one weird element to an otherwise high-stakes and interesting story.
Story
Gotta say I live and die with one element. If I ignore that element my general and story enjoyment jumps up by quite a bit. As a whole the story has some amazing progression and is very snappy and action packed. It just tosses you into everything and explains a little later, which
...
depending on the person can be good. In the beginning it is very alien and crazy but as the story progresses all the mysteries are naturally unraveled.
Characters
They're really fun. I can't stay I remembered any of the divers' names on the first watch through. However, I can recall each and memorable moments with them. They spend a lot of time in their diver suits due to the malignant matter. Everyone else is pretty solid and I could really get attached to them. Aiko especially is fun and full of life, I really enjoyed getting to be around her. She was honestly one of my favorite parts of the story, which considering it focuses on her means they did well. However, if you don't enjoy her too much it can make it a tad hard to follow her for as much as we do. Most other characters are decent, their backstories take a little to get to but many are well designed. Only downside is it is all highly interlocked so it may take a second watch through.
Sound
I mainly listen to op and ed, not really a good judge of VAs. I don't particularly like the op or ed. They're not bad just not something I think does the show any favors. The op is a mini story all on it's own which is really well told, being mainly visual, the op music itself feels oddly operatic and maybe a little surgical with a general hopeful sound. I think they need to balance the background music a little, it seems they just turn the voices sound up when bg music is there. Otherwise the sounds somewhat compete. Good music tho it's just not balanced with the voices well.
General feel
It has a general feel of a deep dive mission through a dangerous alien world. Very fun if you like the world building. I loved the ride the show took me on it really is like a tour through the strange world. As I keep saying it's snappy so you'll have a fun time.
Positives:
- Solid CG and art
- Solid world
- Interesting questions and mysteries
- Op is a mini-story (I suggest skipping visual til ep3, just makes it better)
Negatives:
- Occasional use of cliches (they're usually surface level)
- It can be too much info scattered in some throwaway like-lines (eg: all this matter is bravo class, like 4 eps in explanation on matter classes and another 1 on what that entails)
- Divers are like always in their suits that all look the same
- One weird element that I can honestly rant about but won't

I will always describe this as a battle royal anime where it doesn't matter who dies but how and why. Many people dropped it or were annoyed with the progression of the battle royal which, yes, is predictable. However, I always thought that was intentional and really not the point of the show especially after seeing the first episode. It matters more who is fighting than who the winner is.
Story
Story is heavily linked with character because most of the story is about who the participants in the royal are. Thus most of the story is told through flashbacks which can break tension
...
because it is the past. By and large the flashbacks are well timed and don't break the flow, and you can learn a lot about the warriors.
Characters
The characters are all solid. The story kinda lives and dies with the strength of the characters because it spends so much time in their pasts. They can be a lot when you initially meet them but once you get to learn more about them it tends to make more sense. They're all very distinctive because of that and their designs.
Sound
Solid music and sound design. The use of the music to build and create tension is great. I especially enjoy the visual meaning(s) of the op and ed. The music's lyrics also seem to be a good match. Really the op is a great entrance into the episode, feels like a song to prepare for battle. The sound design is on point. The The VAs for both dub and sub, I can jump between the two and there isn't any whiplash. *I don't usually have much of an opinion on VAs.
General feel
The show has an odd feel. Best way I can describe it is determined but melancholy. The show's energy somewhat reflects that. It does have a decent amount of dialogue so the energy level can feel like it's bottoming out between action scenes.
Positives:
- Music (op and ed are solid and work well in the show)
- Art and CG are solid
- Solid characters especially the backstories
- Twist on the battle royal genre
Negatives:
- Not a typical battle royal
- Occasionally hard to visually follow (too much action or too fast)
- Battles can have varying satisfaction
