So, the ending to Ao no Exorcist - Season 1 is an "original ending". My guess is they created that ending bc the manga had not released enough chapters to cover that arc in the anime.

Ironically, Ao no Exorcist - Season 2 is airing soon and it covers the arc that the anime did not cover. Sadly, the "original ending" from Season 1 contradicts the events in Season 2. I don't know if they will disregard Season 1's ending altogether or not. I could tell you what happens or you could wait for Season 2 to air, it's up to you.
