LOL OMFG I didn't even realize you had left a comment on here, this site wouldn't even let me check my notifications for the longest (goes to show how fragmented everything still is)! All I had to do was scroll down into my comments, now I'm the one who feels bad! Don't sweat it though, no big deal.

I'm always interested in other people's opinions on shows I watched, especially if we have similar thoughts. After Takagi-san's anime finished airing I went back and read whichever of Yamamoto's-sensei's works were available to me (not many, unfortunately). I think the way he draws and writes his manga is very charming, although my fascination doesn't run so deep that I'd use the tankobon's to practice my Japanese! That's awesome! I read Ashita wa Doyubi (spinoff) after I finished the Takagi-san anime. While I wasn't as charmed, I think those 3 characters have great chemistry. That's one aspect of his manga that I like a lot taking into account how simple they are, his characters have such great comedic rapport with each other. Yamamoto-sensei is definitely a mangaka I am going to keep my eye out for whenever his works become more readily available to me.

I know what you mean, I think I could potentially be growing out of it a little as well. I feel like the nonstop action might be getting to me more than the misplaced comedy. I want to believe that when Gorilla-sensei joked that he didn't know how to end the manga, it wasn't true, but it's starting to show with the way this final arc has been paced. It feels like he's making a mad dash for the finish instead of pacing and setting up everything properly like the Shogun Assassination, Farewell Shinsengumi, or even the Rakuyou arc (which I find to be severely underrated). Maybe putting 3 of your best story arcs back to back isn't an effective strategy?

If you've been caught up with the manga, it's actually erroneous to call this the final arc, because there's still quite a bit of content after the fact. It feels like he's "letting his hair down" so to speak, and getting back into the groove of what people liked about the series to begin with. Won't say much more than that because I could be getting into potential spoilers! The dirty jokes don't bother me as much as the more topical pop-culture gags that feel like they won't age well, he threw in a Walking Dead joke at one point and I couldn't help but groan a little. I'm ride or die with Gintama, so yeah, I'll watch and read until it's ALL over, I've got too much of attachment to stop watching at this stage.

Couldn't help but notice you recently finished Takagi-san (a favorite of mine from last season, how did you like it?

From what I've read of the Black Clover manga, the pacing is a bit faster. That's really the only positive I can give it. It's much more boring in my opinion because you don't have mediocre animation, terrible voice actors, and filler content which enhances the "so bad it's good" factor.

This last arc of Gintama hasn't been what I expected. I'm not the biggest fan of Utsuro personally, but I appreciate that he's Gintoki's ultimate villain because he represents the past he's been haunted by over the course of the series. If you've seen Fullmetal Alchemist, my relationship with him is sort of like my relationship with Father, I feel like he's only really there to facilitate much more interesting characters (Nobume, Oboro), and to be the "big bad". I won't spoil what happens later if you're an anime only, but this arc to me when I was reading it in the manga felt VERY overstuffed, that gorilla created too many damn characters for his own good! It doesn't feel like it's that much of a "personal" arc to me because the focus and scope of this final arc is massive, but I guess at the same time I should've known better because Gintama's large cast is probably its biggest gimmick. I don't think there's a definitive episode count as of now because the manga is still going, I believe it JUST reached its climax so it should be ending soon. I can't even begin to imagine how long it's going to go on for after the fact. If I had to guess, I'd say it's going to be at least 30 episodes if they decide not to split it into a second cour.

Thank you for the kind words! My paltry review is not worthy! Frankly, it just baffles me that everyone's been bashing Black Clover aimlessly without taking a "peek behind the curtain" as they say. It's a bad show, clearly, but all the reviews I've read have been written in the same echo chamber of shallow observations...anyway...I see you're a Gintama fan...I happen to be a person of culture myself.
