Are you currently searching for a short series or two to add to your elitist collection to use for evidence of your obviously superior taste, or for a more modest individual, to make you question what makes you human? Look no further! Neon Genesis Evangelion is essential to the collection of any self-proclaimed elitist who's worth his/her salt, but Kaiba is the thing that truly will distinguish you as a true elitist amongst the phonies who's only 10s are Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and Death Note. Both of these fine shows have a lot in common, and really force you to think about your own life and values, and how you think of other people. Both have the idea of individuality as a pivotal theme integrated tightly into the plot, and both of them have somewhat open ended conclusions that leave a few unanswered questions to the viewers to find the answer to for themselves. Both of these shows define themselves from the crowd, especially Kaiba, and these are both shows that every anime viewer should see at least once, to hopefully expand their taste and perception of the world around them.

Not only do these stories share a similar premise of going back in time to same your friends, but they also share many similar features as well, such as irredeemably evil villains. Also, both had a romance subplot that managed to piss off every single one of it's fans by deliberately not shipping everybody's OTP and sinking them faster than a discount refugee ship from Syria. If you can tolerate one, you can definitely tolerate the other!
