The characters have training, in the Biscuit training they spent a lot of time in there, Gon spent a lot of time training the Jo ken po thing too, idk where you dont see training, it has much more training than naruto actually for example, and they always showed us Gon as a really powerful character, the characters in the hunter exam were weak, most of them, only the ones who passed were at least a bit strong, like Hisoka super strong, or the archer one that wasnt that much.
It doesnt make it even sadder bc both of them evolved as characters, its not like they became like that suddenly, the corruption in the world and bad thins (mainly kite death) made Gon change, and all the time Killua spent with Gon made them change as well, And Netero is actually the strongest character in the whole series, just behind Meruem, so no, anyone more could defeat him in that moment, just maybe Adult Gon but thats another story, dont forget Hunter x Hunter didnt end yet, what youre saying its like ending One Piece now and complaining about how we dont know almost anything about Teach, Shanks and Dragon for example.

Hisoka is smart and etc etc, why and how? wtf, will you ask why Einstein is a genius? And idk how you can dislike character development in HxH, did you saw the massive evolution of Gon and Killua? Gon in the beginning was super innocent and kind, and Killua was super cold, compare them to the Gon and Killua in the final of the series

Gon and Killua learned A LOT about nen in the tournament arc, Biscuit trained them in the Greed Island arc, amplifying their nen knowledge by practicing special moves and nen usage. Gon learned a lot with Knuckle's training. So, if you're going to complain, at least get your facts straight.
